Well, firstly, I have had the pleasure of living in this amazing city of Dubai for almost 15 years now. During these fun-filled years, I have personally witnessed the unbelievable growth of Dubai – phenomenal and unsurpassed growth in economy, tourism Dubai, infrastructure, real estate, education, technology, sports, celebrity visits – the list goes on…, not to mention the huge oil reserves that UAE primarily thrives on.

If you look at the map of United Arab Emirate to see where is Dubai, it is clear how conveniently the place is situated allowing easy access from all parts of the globe. This has also contributed to making Dubai a preferred choice for many, the world-over, be it for taking up jobs, setting up businesses, furthering education plans, buying their dream houses or just to avail a cheap all inclusive holiday to Dubai.

On the other hand, I have personally seen many people landing up in undesired situations and soon wondering whether the grass was merely greener on the other side – all because crucial and critical information was not easily available to them beforehand. Well, if truth be told, I have not only seen but have been subjected to such situations too!

But the fact remains that there are vast attractions in the lifestyle and huge earning potentials await the right set of people who have the answers to what, when, where and how.

Would YOU rather not have all the information handed over to you readily beforehand, rather than cry later over spilt milk?

I am committed to provide comprehensive information to all those who want – extremely useful information that will help people to make informed decisions about their visit or move to Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

'Lo there.

  Welcome one and all to the show, we're wired up,fired up and we're ready to go - as in the words of the talented Michael Kenji Shinoda.

I've somehow managed to piece my blog together and I'm fairly proud of it since it is palpably decent-esque. Got some freebies in the "bookmarks" bit, so feel free to entertain yourselves if you find I'm ranting on too much. I just threw out some random topics of interest into the forum, waiting for someone to get the ball rolling. I don't wanna act like I'm pluggin it - and even that sounds like a plug - but all the art you see on this page, all 100% homemade by yours truly. (If you look at my profile, you'll notice 'digital graphics editing' as one of my hobbies-I have sneaky feeling that I just coined a new term right there.) I will be adding a Photo Album soon, which will showcase my amateur artistic attempts and other photos, so keep an eye out for that.

Just returned from my birthplace, glorious Singapore, to Hyderabad where I am now schooling. Had a blast on my sunny island 'course. I transformed into a cinema addict before the eyes of the world, caught up on movies such as

Juno(Jason Reitman kicks ass),

27 Dresses (which was bordering on mediocre),

Jumper(which was a complete and utter waste of my time and money),

Cloverfield (I regurgitated my sweet n salt popcorn all over the poor epileptic teenager seated in front of me, and OH YEAH it was a complete and utter waste of my time and money) and of course

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street, my latest muse which I watched 3 times :D (thank god for insane barbers which somehow keep us sane).

Was in Dubai for a while too, and people, if you know China as 'The Waking Dragon' and India as 'The Reigning Maharaja', Dubai would probably be 'The Rising Camel' or something 'cos i have never known a desert bursting with more life. The nomadic equivalent of a rollercoaster in Dubai would be the Desert Safari. Do not underestimated those silken undulating dunes and the charming driver of your jeep. Definitely not for the faint of heart. The Emiratis are such warm people, down to earth but extremely savvy. They are at the top of their game, truly.

It feels great though to be back in ISH especially since there are more people. Personally, a classroom of 11-12 people is what I call mentally stifling, simply because the more people, the easier the flow and circulation of ideas. And now there're 21, yes you heard me, 21 students in our grade. Maybe its because I'm used to my having nearly 30-40 people in a class. (that's what's considered a healthy class size in Singapore Smiley)

I have great memories of Vysh's Birthday party on Saturday (Happy Birthday again if you happen to read this, which I highly doubt Smiley). Had lotsa fun, although at the expense of the peace of mind of fellow Fusion9 diners.(We're a rowdy lot) Met Vysh's grandmother after the party,a sweet a gracious individual whom I had the privilege of being acquainted with, along with the rest of her family. I got back home and promptly hung the party glowband on my wall. (I latch on to memories like a basket case for those who don't know)

And all Sweeney lovers out there, be sure to check out the poll of the month. And in honour of the occasion, I have here an impeccably done tribute to Sweeney Todd - ALL CRED TO WAYTINO who indirectly introduced me to the infectious magic of Yann Tiersen. This tribute is very aptly named "Revenge"

<<<randomness:(this means the following paragraph[s] are just some of my random musings that I jot down when inspired)

"He left the bistro, shuffling down the street with the look of a broken heart bleeding all over the place. She'd been unfaithful, he'd been unwavering.

And on this oh so gray

                  Valentine's Day,

                  He swiped the roses

from the blistered hands of a pedlar

handed the man a 50,

just enough for a  pinch of weed,

and as if the beauties were gritty,

he threw them into the dump,

then woefully he said,

'Love is a place where all is rosy red,

and salvation is dead'

'Even pedlars should not sink to the level of promoting love'

                       The pedlar was left puzzled but content with his easy money.

                                           And he sank deeper into the suffocating trench of heartbreak...

:randomness>>>

Attend the tale of Sweeney Todd,

His skin was pale and his eye was odd,

He shaved the faces of gentlemen

Who never thereafter were heard of again

He trod the path that few have trod,

Did Sweeney Todd - The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street

Sorry, couldn't resist the urge to put that in, heehee :D

P.S. Be sure to give a shout(angry or intoxicated, I won't mind) at my tagboard before you leave.

Tolerating the Intolerant
In case you haven't heard, Dubai wants your tourist dollars. They are using their oil money to set up a fantasy land for the world's wealthiest tycoons. The city includes an indoor ski mountain, a 7-star hotel, and soon to be the world's tallest building. However, there is a dark side to Dubai: Islam.

Islam is quite possibly one the world's most dangerous religion. Now, I know that one can point to bits of the Bible/Torah that are as nasty as the Koran, and I would totally agree. I sure as hell wouldn't want to run into a Christian in a dark alley in 1215, and I definitely would hate to encounter a Jew in 2500 BCE (if they did indeed commit one of the most atrocious campaigns of ethnic cleansing in the history of mankind like their holy book brags). But there is one main difference between Christianity/Judaism and Islam. That difference is the fact that the mainstream elements of Christianity and Judaism have actively rejected those violent, primitive laws in their holy books and Islam has not.

A Christian or Jewish suicide bomber would be condemned by most mainstream churches, not to mention one who stones his child to death for being rebellious or making fun of important bald men. Christians and Jews have learned to not take their holy books so literally.

Islam, on the other hand, embraces violence. Oh sure, maybe some of the moderate muslims that live in the comfort and convenience of the United States, Canada, and Europe don't, but that is only because the areas they live in are not ruled by Sharia law. Believe me, many of these so-called "moderates" would be lynching rape victims along with their desert-dwelling cousins in a heartbeat if they were. Look at the muslim leadership in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Iran. Almost if not all of those men fully support muslim violence, and continue to do nothing about the violence in Darfur. Not a single one of them has stood up and condemned the countless suicide bombers that kill innocent people just trying to have some damn breakfast. Instead, they give religious bigotry, hatred, and ass-backwards laws from the middle ages a nod and a wink. Those that do condemn it are usually only paying lip service to appease their western oil customers.

So, what are we going to do about it? I for one wish we could nuke every last muslim on the face of the earth and say 'good riddance' to bad rubbish. I wish I could personally castrate the rape gangs in Dubai that prey on foreign tourist, knowing that they can commit their crime with complete impunity and actually have their victim thrown in jail for it. Then, I wish I could continue on to the lawmakers that blame western culture for their citizens' bad behavior when it is them who refuse to prosecute any muslim on non-muslim crime. Face it, Dubai is a pervert's paradise, a rapist's wonderland. So imagine me, at the seat of the big red button. If I push, the Islam problem goes away. But I don't push, I wouldn't.

I wouldn't push the button because every fiber of my being would want to. Every inch of me realizes that we can no longer tolerate the violently intolerant. We can no longer tolerate men that rape in a country that prosecutes the victim. We can no longer tolerate laws that allow a man to beat his wife with a cane so long as it's a smaller diameter than his finger. For this very reason, we must tolerate it. If I give into my base instinct, as represented by the above paragraph, I become the same animal these muslims are. I'm better than that. Getting rid of them isn't the answer, because you can't get rid of intolerance. What we really need to do is become independent from the one thing that's keeping us involved with them: oil. It will happen, whether we like it or not. All that cheap, easy-to-drill oil is going to run out one day, and their civilization will either evolve or die. They have to realize now that they aren't always going to be holding the Oil trump card, and that they're going to have to start making some non-oil friends and evolve their religion if they want to survive as a society for the next couple hundred years. I guess I'm a little sad that I won't be around to see the good side of Islam come back into the light. There are too many minds going to waste in the desert, too many descendents of the minds that gave us algebra. I'm a little sad that I won't be around to see this large segment of the population start to contribute so much to the world. But the sadness is reason enough why I wouldn't push the button, it's reason enough why no one should.

America ... falling behind further.
_____________________________________________________
    Date Line July 21, 2007

Shrink, shrank, shrunk.  Surpluses move into record deficit territory; the population grows shorter, as the short nations grow taller.   But wait!  Population height is generally equated to intelligence, wealth, and general well-being.

America, as lead by the Hard-Hats, the Right-wing, the Evangelical, the Idiots of the world, is getting worse on every measure.  Now comes the real insult.

The world’s tallest building belonged to Egypt, when Egypt ruled the world.  The tallest structure belonged to France, when French was the language of the educated and the artistic elite.

As America grew in power, the Empire State Building, the World Trade Center, even the Sears Towers could be said to have marked that preeminence.

Taiwan, the land claimed by China, claimed the mark with Taipei 101; but everyone understand that 10 is only a basic level.  In 2004, Taipei 101came in at 1667 feet.  Oh well, the World Trade Center was only 1368 feet tall (300 feet; not even close).  American decline without the aid of Osama and Company.

I earned my Real Estate Brokers License relocating firms from the old building being razed to make room for the Trade Center.  Seeing it come, seeing it go, seeing America become a World Superpower, and an economic disaster in the making.  Add the 60's and quite a life.

You can measure the fall of America by the distance the Sears Tower  exceeded the World Trade Center ... only 1.9 feet ... less than the length of my arm.

Taipei 101 beat the sears Tow by fully twenty (20%) percent.  Now there is a new entry: The Burji Dubai has passed 1680 feet and is still under construction.  The goal is in excess of 2275 feet!

The Burji Dubai shall be nearly a thousand feet above American best efforts.  Where are our engineers?  Where are our skilled construction workers?  Where is the money needed to construct a world monument?

The United Arab Emirates has the immigrant work force, the money, an intelligent engineering and architectural staff, and they are doing what many American “experts” said could not be done; they are going to take a manmade structure two-fifths of a mile above the earth.

When, in the sixties, I was skydiving, static line release was from a lower altitude that the top platform of the Burji Dubai.  I doubt anyone will successfully jump, because I’d doubt anyone could bring a chute to the top; but we are talking potential structural jump record.

Poor America.
Our educational system is being stripped to pay for Iraq;
Our healthcare system is being stripped to pay for Iraq;
Our Social Security System is being bleed to pay for Iraq;
Our roads and infrastructure are being abandoned, to pay for Iraq;
Our future earnings will be excessively taxed, to pay Iraq debt;
Our future earnings are pledged to China because of Iraq debt; and
If we don’t want to pay, China forty million surplus men to put into the collection army that will ensure collection.

Reagan Voodoo Economics, combined with King George military adventurism and routine lies, will ensure the fall of America.

Were is our next generation energy resource?  Are we following the Carter mandate to build solar?  Or are we looking to build more nuclear plants; those things which can be exploded by terrorists?

Nuclear fallout will be of our own making; Economic destruction of our making; teach our kids that a deity created the universe in six days, and that evolution is a myth.  What use have we for reality?

Fantasy worlds, the worlds of the Right-wing and the Evangelicals.  The Armageddon which the Christian Right wants so dearly; and will do anything to ensure comes.  We want these for America; and if we get them: What need education or healthcare?
