Dork @ MindSay

Wow. I'm a boring dork.
(insert fresh new greeting here)

This morning I continued my pet-sitting routine, and I think I'll miss the puppy when this is all over. We seem to have formed a bond now. :( At least I'm getting paid.

After that, geek that I am, I got caught on Shippuden episodes (OMG SASUKE KILLED OREO) and read for a while. When my mom got back from work, we decided to walk Sam. That is how today's story begins...

A few minutes into walk, Sam had to do his "business," which is, of course, not uncommon. But today the stench was especially unpleasant, and I had to endure until we arrived at home.  When we were closer to the house, I picked up a piece of long grass (can't say I know the variety) and tore of the ends, which left one slender, smooth piece. I find this sort of thing meditative. ^_^'

Just then, a breeze went past our party, blowing the stink of Sam's poop bag directly towards my face (unpleasant, I know). Disgusted, I quickly brought the grass to my nose and inhaled its sweet scent.

The grass still in place, I heard my mother's voice beside me. She politely informed me that the car of a boy from school had just zoomed by, and said boy had waved. I was briefly mortified by this news, for at the exact moment of his passing, I had been...

a) sporting unwashed hair
b) wearing too-small pants
c) and hideous blue raincoat
d) sniffing a piece of grass

Hahaha. I'm so cool.

I would also like to add that the boy in the car was the ex-boyfriend mentioned in one of my earlier posts. My friends will know who I mean.

So, yeah, a pretty uneventful day. *sigh* I guess there's still tomorrow.

Fallout 3

Fallout 3 is one of my new favorite games. Almost as fun as STALKER, and really reminiscent of it. I like the demos so much I decided to go all out. I got the Limited Edition game, as well as the Collectors' Strategy Guide. The game came with a Fallout themed lunchbox, which is actually an item you can pick up in the game, and make into the Bottlecap Mine.

I kinda want to design a non-explosive replica of it, and it seems pretty easy.

An Introduction
OK, so after years of ignoring knitters and all things yarn-inspired, I have finally become obsessed with knitting.  And, since knitting blogs are all the rage, I decided I'd start one to chronicle my trials and tribulations and put up pictures of my progress (what's a knitting blog without pictures??).

Of course, every knitting blog must have a catchy, yarn-related title/username.  I first came up with Mallory Knits.  Sigh... so many blogs start with [Name] Knits already.  Hm... how about Mal-Knits?  Nah, then it just implies bad knitting.  Titles with my name are out.  So, like the uncreative dork I am, I googled "words with nit."  I'm sure you see where I'm going with this.  Affinity, eternity, infinite, insanity, nitpicky, opportunity... then I saw sanguinity.
Sanguine (adj): (definition adapted from Merriam-Webster)
1: bloodred
2: consisting of or relating to blood; bloodthirsty
3: having blood as the predominating bodily humor; having the bodily conformation and temperament held characteristic of such predominance and marked by sturdiness, ruddy complexion, and cheerfulness
4: confident, optimistic, hopeful
san·guine·ly adverb
san·guine·ness noun
san·guin·i·ty noun
It's a word I remembered distinctly from a Firefly episode and definition #4 is a pretty accurate description of my attitude towards this new hobby.  And thus, my knitting blog was born:

Sangui-knit-y
the hopeful adventures of a knitting novice

Perhaps it's too much story-telling about the blog title, but I thought it was interesting.  Plus it may help to explain the definition to people who define sanguine as "bloody."  Yes, knitting needles can be dangerous, but I really hope this definition does NOT describe my future knitting adventures.

Anyways, I guess we'll see how this goes.

Disappointment

Sometimes you might think something is one way, but come to find out it is actually another. You may have suspected that the other was the way it actually was, but were convinced by some that you were being pessimistic, so you chose instead to believe in the positive image of the thing.

So - having believed in the positive image, you may find it a bit of a kick in the pants when you turn around and have good reason to believe that you were duped. You've been duped in the past, so therein lies the conundrum... Be wary and protect what you let get destroyed before, or walk right into what might or might not be a trap, the same trap you've tripped at least once in your life....

Oh well, there goes another moment of naivete. I just wish I had wasted it on something good like world peace or something.
