Sometimes...
...the radio is absolutely terrible.

But sometimes... it is just absolutely amazing.

Case in point, I went out to CVS tonight around 8:30 (it closes at 10 apparently) to get something I needed.  They were all out, and I needed it tonight.  So the nearest CVS that had any in stock...20 miles away.  Yeah.  NOT excited (but tempted to sleep at my parents tonight because hey, what's an extra 10 miles when you're going 30 out of your way?).

I get in the car, and what's on? Hotel California.  And I'll have you know, the DJ was kind enough/smart enough to play the real version; the six-and-a-half-minute version.  Perfect.  So how do they one-up themselves with that one?  Oh, they put on Lola by The Kinks.  I used to have a cat named Lola, so that song has always meant a lot to me.  And then, Instant Karma (John Lennon) made its way into my ears.
Then, I wasn't in the mood to listen to Santana's Smooth (I ODed on that song when it first came out), so I switched over to my beloved hard rock station...and was met with Filter's Hey Man, Nice Shot.

Blog #90

I likes me some excessive WavePad...

There's nothing like a bit of excessive WavePad to remove your mind.

I've been wanting to make a HUUUUGE music-mash up for a few weeks now.

I recently upped my NEW PLAYLIST from 170 songs to 200.

(I added Vicarious and it became 171. 175 seemed too uneven, so I went for 200)

So, I cut 30 seconds from all 200 songs and blended them all together in a music mash-up.

The final file is 1:40:29.

I expected it to be near the 1:40:00 mark, but those damn nanoseconds sure add up. :)

My PC actually coped with having 200 music files open at once too.

As I was opening them - there was only ONCE that it jumped and crashed briefly - and that's when THE WHEELCHAIR (LOL!) opened.

Ashleigh was amused when I told her that.

She came online today.

Ash only ever comes online when she wants something - and she asked if she could come down tomorrow.

No problem - I've not seen her for over a week, I'm missing her.

Good news - Denham is home and he's starting to walk about again.

I was glad to hear he's alright. Denham is proper sound. I was worried about how him being away was affecting Ash too.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I expected this 200 song mash-up to take me about 2 hours.

But no, it took me FIVE.

Whatever, it helped me de-stress a little.

Watching lots of green frequency bars jump around is quite theraputic.

MUSICAL FORM (WWW.GRINDMODEC...

Modern music’s D.I.Y. ethic has created a strange situation where there are many artists without knowledge of music itself. Some feel that their ignorance of things such as how to read music has been help, with Timbaland being an obvious example as he once stated that he did not want to learn in case it hurt his way of producing.

But step back a little and you will see that most artists use an at least rudimentary knowledge of music in order to succeed. Prince has had a long and successful career based on his ability to play many instruments and the undoubted insight it has given him. Taking it away a step to DJs and it is a fact that while many may be able to beat-match if the tracks you are mixing are in opposing keys the result will sound like a catfight. A basic knowledge of notation…

Afro's and Roller Skates... Good times.

Hey ladies and gentleman, time to get far-out and funky because it’s 70’s time again! This time around I chose some more well known booty-shakin’ tracks that you, yes YOU used to wear out those old steel needles on.

Ah, but no wear to worry about… hell, no track changing to worry about for that matter! I have taken 16 wonderful Diss-ko songs and adjusted them just so; now they all play one right after the other in a flawless progression. Yep, it’s like one long song consisting of all the other songs that you like. Pretty sweet deal huh?

Plus it has a totally awesome title… it’s called: “If It Feels Good, Do it”.

Solid, Jackson.

It was painstakingly assembled by yours truly… you can call me Ray, or you can call me Jay… Ha, I’m just kidding. You can actually refer to me as either DJ Maru or Killerjunglist. Or “the” Killerjunglist. That last one is your call.

Let’s take a look over hear, where the song list is:

(Please note: Song title is first, followed by artist)

  1. Boogie Oogie Oogie – A Taste of Honey
  2. I Love the Nightlife (Disco ‘round) – Alicia Bridges
  3. Sensitivity (Extended album version) – The Shapeshifters
  4. Shootin’ the Grease – Jessie Graham Plus 3
  5. Ring my Bell – Anita Ward
  6. September – Earth, Wind and Fire
  7. Everybody Dance – Chic
  8. Let’s Go ‘Round Again – Average White Band
  9. It’s a Disco Night (Rock Don’t Stop) – Isley Brothers
  10.  Lay All Your Love on Me – ABBA
  11. Rasputin – Boney M
  12. You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real) – Sylvester
  13.  Dance to the Music – Sly and the Family Stone
  14.  Can You Feel the Force – The Real Thing
  15. I Feel Love – Donna Summer
  16. Can You Feel It – The Jacksons

Stinger: Just a rumor

Total running time is approximately 40 minutes. While that may not be enough to keep your discothèque packed all night long, it is a pretty perfect length for your lunch break or commute to work.

So come on, man. Break out that dusty old El Dorado (yes, the one that leaks oil and needs a new starter), roll down the windows and crank the tunes. If you don’t have the ladies all over you in a matter of minutes, then I owe you a coke*.
