- Back @ Mine – Decoder
- 8 Bit – Breakage & Threshold
- Pacman (Remix) – Ed Rush & Optical

- Subculture – Styles of Beyond (Upbeats Remix)

- Panic Attack – E. Keely and A. Ash, ft. Nu Balance
- Puerto Rico – Ed Rush & Optical
- Short Kut – Nu Balance
- Because I Got It Like That – Jungle Brothers (Freestylers Remix)
- Snow – Wildchild & Damage
Almost all of these tracks (exceptions are track 2 and 17) come directly from my own record bag. They were all encoded using Sound Forge to MP3 format at 192kbps. Despite the slight drop in quality I think they sound pretty darned good.
The two tracks NOT from my vinyl collection were ripped from CDs. I actually used to own a white label of the Freestylers remix of "Because I Got It Like That" but it was stolen (or perhaps lost) at a gig I did once. Kosheens "Suicide" has long been a favorite track of mine but I was never able to find a good vinyl copy of it, so I had to settle for a CD... I am still searching for a good vinyl copy tho.
Puerto Rico by Ed Rush and Optical is off of the "Original Dr. Shade" LP and is essentially a remix Frankie Cutlass' "Puerto Rico - Black People", a pretty rad break track. I balk at calling it an all out remix as it only really used the line "Puerto Rico" and a sort of rezzed out yell from the original.
The Upbeats remix of "Subculture" is one of my favorite tracks period. I just love the intensity so I let the thing play alomst in its entirity. For anyone who hasn't heard of Styles of Beyond I suggest this track in its original form and "Style Wars". This exact remix can be found on the "Human Resource" LP, presented by Deiselboy.
"Back @ Mine" by Decoder is a pretty old track and is off of one of the first LPs I ever bought. The high pitched "ah ah ah ah ah" noise in the background is a sped up version of a classic house noise... unfortunatly I really don't know it's origin at this time.
"Panic Attack" is an interesting track in that it gives a "featuring" credit to Nu Balance, who's voice is indeed featured on the track in a sped up, stuttered and almost completly unrecognizable way. For some reason I keep incorperating this track into a majority of my live mixes. It tends to get a crowd pumped up.
"Snow" may or may not be by the same Wildchild of "Renegade Master" fame. There really isn't a whole lot of information available on the subject, but in my opinion I think it is the same Wildchild. The basics of the two songs are too similar for my ears for it to be different artists.
So there ya go. Enjoy the tunes and remember, if you have any ideas for a mix drop a comment and I'll see what I can do.

A little about this mix:
I had the idea to do a straight up battle mix and this was the result. I also chose to give it as much of an old school sound as possible, so none of the mix points use anything but volume tricks (no EQ changes). I broke my own rule a little with the adding of "Renegade Master" with "Old School Scat", but the effect was just too cool to skip.
Tom's Diner is a rather famous acapella track that most people recognize instantly as it starts to play. The version I used here is a break remix with no name attached (from a white label record). I sped this version way up to blend with the other tracks and I ended up really liking how it sounded.
"Last Bongo in Brighton" actually is "Electric Rain Dance"... or at least the beginning is. "Last Bongo" starts with the sampled drum beat of "Rain Dance", adds a little more bass, then quickly switches to the guitar and horns part. It's actually kind of hard to distinguish the two tracks and where the mix point is exactly even tho I just slammed from one to the other.
"Clear" by Cybertron is the beat that Missy Elliot used for her hit single "Lose Control". Drop the Boom is a remix of the Freestyle track "Don't Stop the Rock". "Renegade Master" is technically a remix of "Old School Scat".
I used two Zeb Rok Ski tracks on accident, but would have used more if I was paying less attention. Zeb Rok Ski is a standard name when it comes to Old School Breaks. The fact Zeb makes mostly compilations and medleys makes mixing out of his stuff a breeze and adds a more playful air to the overall mix.
I am listed as DJ Maru as the artist here. The first nine or ten mixes I post will have that name only, but after that it will be split with DJ Maru/KillerJunglist. I haven't quite decided if I want to change my name on my mixes yet.
Please use the Mediafire link (once it is posted) as your main download source. It will have the most updated file information and album art etc. If the Mediafire link doesn’t work for some reason, please feel free to use the mirrors provided. Thanks!

Hey everybody, it's me, DJ Maru AKA KillerJunglist.
In this, my super brand new blog I will be posting all my music crap including mixes, mash-ups, original tracks and possibly more. I started posting my mixes on my old blog (www.mindsay.marukun.com) but that blog isn't about music, so I am starting this one in order to keep everything nice and neat.
In the next week or so I will start putting up the most recent mixes that I have made as well as some of my better practice sessions. I will also put up some tracks that I made in the past that I am proud of and some mash-ups that I made as well. I would also like to post links to other artists' tracks that I like, but I am currently making sure it is okay with them so that might take a little longer.
As this is my first blog entry, allow me to introduce myself.
I go by two DJ names, DJ Maru and KillerJunglist. My nickname in real life is Maru, but it turns out there are a bunch of DJs with that name already. KillerJunglist was coined by a friend of mine a while ago when I was spinning a Jungle set. And speaking of Jungle, My preferred styles of dance music are (in order):
1. Jungle/Drum and Bass
2. Battle/Old School/New Skool breaks
3. House (mostly UK Hard, but also Funky and Disco)
4. Old School Hip Hop
5. Unclassifiable (I like taking old rock and roll and such and mixing it... sort of like medleys).
I use software and turntables to mix. I am currently living in Japan (until November of this year) and far away from my turntables, so I have been making all my mixes on MixMeister; a simple but very useful (and inexpensive) piece of mixing software. My turntables are Numark TTXs and my mixer is a Denon DNX 100. I plan on getting a pair of CD mixers upon my return to America so I can include more songs into my live mixes.
My philosophy on DJing is simple: as long as it sounds good and/or moves the crowd you're doing it right. I don't care if you use two tape decks with no mixer, if you can keep the flow going then you are doing your job. I feel that creativity in DJing is what it's all about.
As an added bonus, I am willing to take mix requests. Here is how it works:
Leave a comment with your idea for a mix. You can give a specific playlist, some artists you like or just a genre with some song titles and, if I am inspired enough by it, I will take your requests and make a full length (30, 45 or 60 minute) mix out of them. I will post the mix on this blog and give inspirational credit (song credit too, if you happen to be an artist) to you. Mix requests will be considered by song availability (in the case of artists wanting their own music mixed by me please tell me where I can download a copy), time consideration and mixability (if you want a mix that goes from Elvis at 102 bpm to KMFDM at 165, I doubt it's gonna happen). I think it could be fun tho, so let's hear what you want to hear!
So that's my story. I will have my first mix posted within a few days, so stay tuned and start thinking of those requests!

Post Script - I am not posting a mix today because I plan on writing some trivia about the tracks I used in each mix first. I am also planning on making a podcast soon that works on the same idea; talking about the artists and songs used and then playing the mix in full.
@@ called and is on his way to the doctors right now.
I've opened my emails and thanks to blueeyedtawni DJ and I had a good laugh with breakfast.
He has a woman come in every morning to cook breakfast and clean his house. He's not a neat freak really but I drive him crazy the way I forget to put the tops back onto things.
I've dried out lots of @@ things by doing this....I'm banned from opening anything or borrowing any special pens of the Great One.
The cleaning lady was tsk-tsking because I left the cap off of a few items. I know she's wondering why the hell a girl around his daughters age is here...she can wonder all she wants.
Speaking of the Great One I'm really worried about his hand.....he said that it kept tossing and turning because his hand is hurting so much, he also says that he doesn't like me in New York Shitty....lol...without him....awwwwww Watcherrrrrr....I love you.
I can't wait for him to get here, although he's bringing Paul....well Paul is driving him.....he assures me he's not dating him and he is not consulting my monkey ass on who he should date so stop flopping the gums at him...he's always saying some crazy shit.
Donna and I are going shopping....she's going shopping...I'm tagging along.
Donna: did you bring anything nice?
Me: all of my stuff is nice....i just like dressing comfortable
Donna: you dress like a boy with girl shoes.
Me: i like dressing in comfy clothes
I wear a lot of boy like stuff but I am a Shoe whore....I'll wear boy clothes with girl shoes.
But I dress up when the occasion allows....I have loads of dresses and skirts waiting for occasions to be worn.
Roomy clothes feel better...I can dress like a boy and when someone bothers me...take off my heels and beat the hell out of them!
Right?
Donna: *laughing* right!....okay....meet me at 10 at Scoop.
Me: alrighty then.
It's going to be in the 90's and sweltering in the shitty....cargo shorts, a tank top and sneakers should do.
Later Taters!
Will chat with you Minizzels Lizzels.
Aggressive? You betcha! It’s the musical equivalent of kicking a guy in the face for an hour, only with less lawsuits!
