The epilogue to Day One...

Alas, the time that I spent away was so very short, and not nearly filled with enough minutes to document the entire holiday. One thing that I can say for sure is that in the Land of Hurry up and Wait there was a great deal of hurrying up and waiting for things to happen, and I suppose that this is the way it is and I can do nothing else...

Being that time was mostly occupied with the hurrying and wait and I did not have enough time to fill in the details of days two, three and four, I will just give some generalities on the observations that I made during all these days. The one thing that stood out far above the rest was those who were on power vacation with their children who were small enough to be in strollers. These folks are some of the rudest people I have even met, and heaven forbid if one would happen to block their mad dash for even a millisecond. I just do not understand why they feel the need to see everything in such a short time when their children will never have a memory of the whole ordeal, which is probably for the best anyhow...

Number two generalization for the holiday would be that some of those who drive rental mobility devices usually are far less courteous than those who actually own their mobility devices. Though there are times when I wonder if some of t survive a he rental nobility device people do so just to get through the lines quicker or are too lazy and/or out of shape to survive I day when some degree of physical fitness is required. Yep, I have wonder about such things as I was hit in the ankle once and had numerous close calls with the rental crowd...

It is good to be queued with the common rabble at times, but it is just as good to use the power of one's position to speed through lines at times. In the Land of Hurry up and Wait, sometimes the wait is not worth the time spent experiencing the thing that is being waited for. Though I suppose that if I had rented a mobility device, the queue time would have been greatly reduced in regards to both cases...

It was somewhat unusual to be so near so many wild animals who are dependant upon the vacationers to provide them with food. In my next of the woods, it is extremely rare to be within three or four inches of non-domesticated birds, but it is possible there. And the same holds true of the rabbits and the squirrels for in my neck o' the woods such creatures are for eatin' and for the most part these creatures do not appreciate being consumed by other creatures so they tend to stay far from those who will devour them...

And here I sit on my return flight, back I go to my humble abode. At least the scenery outside the window is different than the flight down. For the most part on the flight south, the clouds were just tiny cotton balls set against an earthly background. But on the return flight from this window, the world appears to be a winter wonderland; the landscape is entirely white with a few gray mountains reaching for the heavens. The Earth as I knew it is gone, and I am wondering if this is what the planet looked like during the last Ice Age, I wonder if my ancestors are walking the plains of snow chasing a mammoth, I wonder if life ten thousand years gone passed has been resurrected down below my window, I wonder if the world that I knew five day before has been swallowed by my visions of the past. I wonder as I sit here flying toward my home so far away...

And life is the road...
And I wanna keep going
Love is a river and
I wanna keep flowing
Life is a road now and forever a
Wonderful journey...

The prequel to Day One...

Oh to dream...

And I sit a million miles from the earth aboard a large metallic object that is soaring through the Heavens. And far below the puffy white tops of the clouds that are blanketing the ground - keeping it hidden from sight. And here I sit and wait until I reach my destination so very far away...

And such is my life - an odyssey of hurry up and wait. Hurry and wait for the shuttle bus to pick me up and delivery me to the terminal. Hurry to the airport so I could wait until I am given permission to enter the top secret portion of the airport. Hurry and wait while my shoes are thoroughly checked for illegal substances. Hurry and wait for the OK that notifies me that the plane is now ready for boarding. Hurry and wait while the plane drives about the airport waiting for the signal to reach for the stars. Hurry and wait until the plane will be allowed to land. Hurry and wait until everyone in front of me has left the plane. Hurry and wait for the shuttle to take me to my resort. And such has been, is, and will be my day today...

It is interesting to me that the beginning and end of this journey occurs at a terminal. I am wondering if before the Pearly Gates there is a terminal though to reach the St. Peter one must reach the terminal of life. So I suppose that Heaven in a sense does have a terminal. And the end will be the beginning and such is the circle of life as it rolls through the universe on its merry way to wherever it is heading. Everybody sing, "The turbines on the plane go 'round and 'round..."

"You spin me right 'round, baby, right round like a record, baby..."

And all of life is circular beginning and ending at the terminal. We learn up until we reach the mid point of our lives and them we unlearn all that information until it is no more. It is the Alpha and Omega of existence and there is no way off the ride once you have strapped yourself in. You have handed your ticket to the Man and the ride will continue until you again meet face to face with the Man. And such are the things of the life and thusly are the things of the afterlife...

We are now cruising at 30,000 feet above the planet, which is not all that far from a cosmological standpoint - we may as well be on the ground. We still have many miles to go before we leave this planet. We have so far to go before we reach another heavenly body. We have so very far to go before we reach beyond this solar system. We have so very far to go before we find ourselves in another galaxy. We have so very far to go before we end up in the next universe. We are so very near the ground at 30,000 feet...

And so I will sit an await the landing that will eventually happen for it will happen for we will not leave the gravitational field of this blue orb - the crown jewel of this solar system. We will not travel all that from home...

And I will sit and tell the world of my experiences as I find myself gazing upon the tops of clouds seemingly so very far below my feet. And all will know of things that I have had to hurry up and wait for on this day just one of many in my life, just on of many in the history of this universe. And I shall just enjoy the ride...

There is just one moon and one golden sun...
And a smile means friendship for everyone
Though the mountains divide and the oceans are wide
It's a small world after all...

A continuation of Day One...

And here I am sitting face to face, eyeball to eyeball with a dragonfly and feeling as if we have both been here before. There is something, some emotion that is far older than I that tells me that we have done this before throughout the ages. His kind has seen my kind evolve from creatures far removed from what I have become. He has seen countless species die out or change into something far different than what they started out as. And yet he remains unchanged throughout it all...

It does not matter if this confrontation had taken place yesterday, a hundred years ago, a hundred thousand years ago, it would have been the same for him, only I would be different and he knows this fact as he stares at me and twitches his wings every so often. He knows that he has one this battle, and that he is the constant and though he may not recognize me because of my changes, I know him from his unwavering appearance...

And now he is gone and I remain though I know that we will meet again and I may be different, yet he will be the same...
