auctioneering
I'm spending the later part of this evening on the phones for the New Hampshire Public Television auction. Eric's mother volunteers every year and invited me along this time around. Since I'm pretty new to the area, I figured it could be a fun foray into the local(ish) community.

This is my second shift -- I did the early shift last Friday (theme: flashback to 1974) and decided to go back for more (tonight's theme: Mardi Gras). Last week was a lot of fun -- though I'm not a big phone/dealing with the public kind of person, there was enough chocolate (Lindt is an auction sponsor) and goofing around with the other volunteers to make it worthwhile. The whole production is also delightfully low-budget -- I say that not out of snobbery, but with a genuine appreciation for all things discount (Eric cringes at my passion for the Christmas Tree Shop). From cheesy graphics -- e.g., the curtain image that looks like a plywood cutout someone's holding in front of the camera --  to people randomly walking in front of the camera to guest appearances by "local celebrities" (e.g. politicians who haven't held office since the mid-seventies), the flavor of the production is definitely a testament to the fact that public television needs your money.

On the other side of things, I've also been watching the auction off and on in the evenings. It runs for six and a half hours every night for 11 days, and the sheer volume of merchandise, from gift baskets to vacations, is amazing. After seeing the deals that winning bidders come away with (Eric's mom, for instance, got a hotel stay worth $150 for $90), I can definitely see myself becoming a TV auction nut.

Let the bidding begin!

Getting Closer

Well some of my nervous energy has been expended.  I haven't touched the bathroom yet besides putting things away and starting dirty laundry.  It is going to be a long few days to possible weeks of being nervous and me posting alot so please bear with me.

In the next few days to weeks I can post some major updates on what is going on with my brother.  Let's just say one of many court battles is taking place today and leave it at that.

We are also getting nervous for this coming Friday.  My sister in law is going to be undergoing breast cancer surgery to take out a 3 cm lump and a few of her lymphnoids to see if the cancer had spread past the breast area.

I have to jump in the shower in the next few minutes so we can leave in an hour to go to taekowndo.  Hopefully our instructor isn't to upset with us for missing the majority of classes last week.  The Gods just didn't want us going to the city last week, every time we tried my van broke down!  It is back in the shop and now they are pretty sure what is causing my van to blow fuses to the fuel pump and loose accelaration!  The mechanic cleaned out the fuel pump, changed the fuel filter, and changed fuses last week.  It didn't help.  This week the mechanic is changing out the starter coil, replacing the fuel pump all together, flushing various fluids, and if that doens't work will be changing out the modulator.  All at a discount price due to the fact the initiatal fix dind't work and I was stranded along the road again.  This time I had a County Sheriff pull over and picked us up.  Took us back to the van after he called dispatch to call randy.  He was on his way home so they sent a County Deputy which I happened to know because he is married to a high school friend!

We are slowly but surely getting closer to either the end of some things or a long drawn out battle on things.  It is no wonder I have been stressed!

Lo, how the mighty are discounted
So. Do you remember how I was all excited that my church's bookstore was selling one of my novels?

I got to church yesterday to find that the book was on the DISCOUNT TABLE!

I've never been "sale priced" before. Had me laughing off and on all day.  I'm still chuckling. :D

Tungsten Jewelry

Tungsten jewelry is the hardest jewelry ever to be manufactured. These are not only comfortable to wear but also hypo allergic to the skin. Like titanium, tungsten jewelry does not need much attention but they tend to develop some micro-scratches on its surface but they are generally not visible through the naked eyes.

Tungsten-Introduction

Tungsten jewelry is made up of tungsten carbide, a mixture of tungsten and carbon. When these two elements are grounded into powder and infused into high pressure of 2400 degrees Fahrenheit, it creates into blanks. These generated blanks will finally convert into attractive polished fine jewelry with the help of diamond tools. Tungsten has an unmistakable dark gun metal grey color and an unbeatable high gloss that sets it in a class apart from any other precious metal. In course of time, Tungsten Jewelry may develop micro-scratches on its surface but they are generally not visible through the naked eyes. These micro-scratches are considered normal and are not usually able to be seen with the eye.
