This one is dedicated to sandyquill. For your 40th bday, your marriage, and the lyrical poetry of 80's hair bands :)...may your kids think your cool! :D

Man I remember when this came out....This is the Def Leppard album I wore out as a kid.

my floor fucking rocks!!
we are freakin' awesome.

first- open mic night. not a floor thing, but it was still awesome nonetheless. it was supposed to be 7-9pm, but it ran at least an hour longer. i left at 10. musicians are so fucking hot. something about a guy being able to play an instrument... lol

came back and tried to work on my spanish paper (due tomorrow at 8am, haven't started, of course), but got distracted by ben, kristina, and kayleigh. we all danced to def leppard's "pour some sugar on me" and toni basil's "hey mickey" in both english and spanish. kayleigh showed me a really funny video of a bull trying to bang a cow in the winter, but he slipped and fell on his back. then i watched paul (one of ben's roommate) play twisted metal ii. then they made me play. heh... heh... the only games i play with a screen are on the computer- diablo ii (which i'm not all that great at in the first place, but what i probably like the most) and various things on the internet that are not at all like twisted metal ii. i sucked ass and managed to die twice in 3 minutes. then ben and i got into a water fight out in the hall b/c he said i sucked and ruined his life. first spontaneous water fight i've gotten into. then ben's other roommate kirk came home and went to bed, so i decided to leave so i could work on my paper. i've typed my name and the class. i could have worked on it the entire time, but that's how much the second half of my day rocked- i just didn't want to leave.

the first half was nothing special, so i'm not going to bore you with it.

Saturday
Saturday was an awesome day. I went swimming with the guy I’m seeing/dating. That was really fun. We ordered in supper and then we took the bus to the Def Leppard concert. The bus was 10 minutes early but we were already at the stop so that was okay. After a while we stopped to pick some people up, and the guy sitting right in front of me went flinging forward and bashed his mouth on the metal bar of the seat in front of him. He chipped his tooth and his lip was bleeding but he didn’t make a sound. I mean he didn’t cry out in pain or curse or anything. He just sat there quietly. I think he was really embarrassed. The only reason he flung forward was because he had fallen asleep. His friends kept quietly checking on him. It was really very odd.

Then we got on the highway and were cruising along – until the people in the front of the bus started making a fuss. Something about a limo and Def Leppard. The bus driver slowed down and then stopped. On the highway. Without pulling over or anything. There was a limo on the shoulder of the road that had broken down with a flat tire. It wasn’t Def Leppard inside it, though, just some guys going to the concert. So they abandoned the limo and got on the bus.

The opening act was The Tea Party. They started on time and really went at it full force. They only played about 9 songs but I knew 6 of them! They were really good but the girl sitting beside me obviously didn’t like them. She kept fidgeting, frowning, and looking at her watch. There was a brief break after that where they tore down one stage and set up the other. I had brought bright orange disposable earplugs but hadn’t put them in for The Tea Party. I figured I wouldn’t need them until the main act. So I put them in a few minutes to 9. It was really weird with them in! At first I couldn’t hear anything, and then I could hear but it was really muffled, and then I could hear everything really clearly. That’s when my friend tapped me on the shoulder. She and her husband had also gone to the concert but had driven there. She had already offered my date and I a ride home afterwards but stopped by to change the meeting place. It was really odd because I could hear her just fine so I was kind of baffled as to why she was yelling so loudly! But because I was baffled by this, she didn’t think I could hear her so she started talking louder and directed herself more towards my date who did appear to be able to hear her. The only thing was that nobody could hear me! I was so loud in my own head that I couldn’t manage to talk loud enough for anyone else to hear me over the noise! Hahahahaha!

Then Def Leppard started and boy was I glad I had earplugs in! I could hear so much more! I could hear everything they said and all the words to the songs. I even heard someone make a cell phone call! I could hear individual people singing along and clapping and everything! It was such a surreal experience! Oh, and the concert itself was awesome too! I knew all the words to all the songs except for three. I didn’t know those songs at all. But that’s okay. I still enjoyed them.

After the concert I took the earplugs out so I could talk loud enough to be heard and was amazed at how loud it was! There was no music or anything – just deaf people talking really loudly. LOL

The ride home was an adventure. We took these back roads with no streetlights on them. At one point we drove by Terry Matthew’s private golf course and some of the roads we drove on were dirt roads. But we made it home with no problems and I really enjoyed myself. So that was my Saturday. :)

Practicing To Be A Good Fan
So last night I went to the official Def Leppard website. I was hoping it would have samples of all their songs but it didn’t. It did, however, list all their albums, all the songs on all the albums, and all the lyrics for all the songs. So I dug out all my Def Leppard music and listened to it while reading the lyrics to refresh my memory and clarify a few things. There have always been lyrics that I just couldn’t understand. I knew they weren’t saying what I thought they were saying so last night I got to see what they were actually saying. So there I was - chair dancing, lip syncing, and having an awesome time. I can’t wait for the actual concert! :)

I was also trying to figure out what songs they were most likely to play so I could review those ones a little more. I know that sounds like I’m studying for a test, but I love to sing along and I know I’ll have a better time if I actually know the words so that I can sing along. So I checked out their latest ‘best of’ CD to see what was on that. I know most of the songs and I remembered most of the words so I think I’m going to have an amazing time! Although I think I’ll spend a bit more time practicing before the concert. :)

Sunday - Sky High, Hellboy, Def Leppard, and Fireworks

Sunday I went out and saw Sky High. I quite liked it but then again I was expecting to like it. Out of 5 stars, the critics gave it 2, the person I went with gave it 3 1/2, and I gave it 4. There was less sappiness and less patriotism than I expected and, since I managed to stay away from all previews, I hadn’t seen the movie out of sequence before I went to see it. Afterwards we went back to his place and watched Hellboy. I really liked that. I thought the day was going rather well but then it got even better because he invited me to go to the Def Leppard concert with him in less than two weeks. :)

We’re also going to go to the International Fireworks Competition on either Wednesday or Saturday, depending on which country is setting them off.
