"And there came a lion" (1 Sam. 17:34).

It is a source of inspiration and strength to come in touch with the youthful David, trusting God. Through faith in God he conquered a lion and a bear, and afterwards overthrew the mighty Goliath. When that lion came to despoil that flock, it came as a wondrous opportunity to David. If he had failed or faltered he would have missed God's opportunity for him and probably would never have come to be God's chosen king of Israel. "And there came a lion."

One would not think that a lion was a special blessing from God; one would think that only an occasion of alarm. The lion was God's opportunity in disguise. Every difficulty that presents itself to us, if we receive it in the right way, is God's opportunity. Every temptation that comes is God's opportunity.

When the "lion" comes, recognize it as God's opportunity no matter how rough the exterior. The very tabernacle of God was covered with badgers' skins and goats' hair; one would not think there would be any glory there. The Shekinah of God was manifest under that kind of covering. May God open our eyes to see Him, whether in temptations, trials, dangers, or misfortunes.  --C. H. P.

Our men's group that meets on Tuesday mornings is working through 2 Samuel right now.  As we sat down this morning, Dave (our pastor) and I both had big grins on our faces because we knew what chapter we had reached.  2 Samuel 6:12-23 is one of my favorite passages of Scripture in the entire Bible.  Basically, as David is bringing the Ark of the Covenant into Jerusalem for the first time, he starts dancing "with all his might," as the NLT puts it, in praise to God.  Apparently that looked pretty ridiculous.  David's wife (well... one of many wives... but that's another entry) didn't like that very much.  She accuses David of being indecent in the streets.  And how does David respond?  By saying that he will dance before the Lord and "become even more undignified than this" (NIV), or as Pastor Dave so eloquently put it this morning: "Honey, you ain't seen nothing yet!"

David wasn't afraid to worship God openly and in his own way, even when other people questioned him.  He praised God in any way he felt compelled to, unashamed.  What would it be like if we all embraced that attitude in our worship?  If we worshiped our God with reckless abandon, unafraid of looking foolish or "undignified"?  I think the world would take notice!  I'll admit that this is an issue I've struggled with.  It's easy to talk about, but when you're on a stage in front of a group of people leading them in worship, it's very easy to bury your own feelings out of, for lack of a better term, embarrassment.  I'm a fairly shy, private person, so this is a tough one for me sometimes.  It's something I've been continually working on, reminding myself of, over the last couple of years.  I encourage my worship teams in the same way: to first of all be worshipers, and to lead by example of worship rather than with their wonderful musical talents.  In the end, I think that's all that God really wants anyways - our genuine, passionate expressions of faith and worship.

Will we worship freely and without reservation?  Will we give God the praise that we truly owe and feel inside?  Will we become more undignified?

Ok so yesterday me and Aaron went to Johns house and omfg it was so much fun. There was this little kinda dumb fest thingy and all these dumb fuck little kids were everywhere and they kept winning goldfish, Aaron won one, AND HIM AND DAVID FLUSHED IT DOWN THE TOILET! John was playing Countersrike and Tom was playing....something and they go into the bathroom and come back and I'm like where'd the fish go? And they just look at me. I was like...'WHAT?! OMFG...WHA NO! OMG?!' And they were laughing. SO we like got pizza and shit and Tom must have no heat sensor things on his tounge. He just fukcing wolfed that thing down. Haha he eats like everything, we were at John's dad house and we walk in and the first thing he does is shove like 409423 hohos down hs throat. I was like 'Gimme one' and his exact response was 'My hoho!' Hahah but he gave me 2. And they all were sccaring mewith balloons, but Tom was the worst and blavblaldsasa shit happened and we were all really cold so we went into John's mas van and me and Tom found and blanket and were under it and then like we were shoved next to each other[which trust me I didn't mind at all!] , and everyone else was under it hhaha it was amazing. Then we played a short ARE YOU NERVOUS? game. John is offically a beach ball. And I think that I'm always gonna steal David's hat and always call him Steven. Well I'm going over there tommorow, AFTER I GET MY LIP PEIRCED!
