Curse @ MindSay
Me I'm done with poetry
I think my words is through.
They just won't go, oh no, no further,
I don't know what to do.
So sweetheart listen close and hear me
'cause what I says is true,
I'm gonna use these last few lines
and dedicate 'em all to you.
I've got your curves all in my mind,
your lips for sure I see.
Can't taste 'em, barely hear 'em now,
but that's enough for me.
I can't remember where we started
how all this came to be
but wherevs it's from, don't matter now,
just glad that there's a we.
I'm all a caught up in your web
My fingers in your hair.
Just glad that when I turns around
I know that you be there.
So if these words just fall to silence
the sentiment I share,
leaving it behind, and doing fine,
but without you I couldn't bear.
It's not about anybody, but I think it was a nice try. I'm going back to prose.
Keep on rockin'

So I received an email from MFA and it was one of those "forwards". Being a librarian implies a general enjoyment of spelunking, so, as usual, I checked it out. (It was false, not surprisingly.) But, while on Snopes, I came across an interesting article that had similar keywords. My curiosity aroused, I read "The Curse of Tecumseh."
Snopes was unable to verify (duh) the actual existense of a curse, but they did their best to show the facts and let the reader decide. Here is the premise: every 20 years a president dies, either naturally or by assassination and the president must die in office. This affects presidents who are elected to office in a year ending with zero. Because of the every four year rule, the phenomenon occurrs every 20 years. The facts are these:
1840- William Henry Harrison was elected and died of pneumonia one month later.
1860- Abraham Lincoln first elected and was assassinated during his second term, in 1865.
1880- James A. Garfield elected. Shot in July 1881, died that September.
1900- William McKinley was re-elected. Shot in September 1901, died a week later.
1920- Warren G. Harding elected. Died of either a heart attack or stroke in 1923.
1940- Franklin D. Roosevelt elected to his third term. Dies during his fourth in 1945, of a cerebral hemmorage.
1960- John F. Kennedy elected. Assassinated by Oswald in 1963.
Here's where it gets tricky. Ronald Reagan was elected in 1980. He did not die during his presidency, but there was an assassination attempt that almost killed him in 1981. Supposedly, Tecumseh, an Indian tribal leader was killed in battle in 1813 by troops led by William Henry Harrison. Two years prior, Tecumseh's troops were defeated at the Battle of Tippecanoe, also by Harrison's men. It is rumored that this was when he laid down the curse to begin with Harrison and continue indefinitely.
The article goes on to offer possible explanations for Reagan surviving, but it does leave open the theory that our current president would have to die in office. If he doesn't, most likely it is just a string of very unlikely coincidences, but if Bush dies between now and next January 20th (the day the next guy or gal is sworn in).....
I have trouble believing that the curse could be real. I wonder why it would only affect one in 5 presidencies. (The article chalks that up to astrology...which I really don't believe in). But the fact is that these men, elected in those years, did die while in office. Still, it is pretty interesting to note. And I thought it worth blogging about.

Head on over to http://ericfrisch04.mindsay.com/embracing_accusations.mws and listen to this song by Shane and Shane, the lyrics of which I’ve posted below. It’s such a great reminder of God’s grace and of our inability, on our own, to know Him and to abide in Him. Jesus must help us. He must save us. We cannot do that by ourselves, no matter how hard we try.
It’s true that “cursed are the ones who can’t abide.” Without Jesus, we are in extremely deep weeds. But Jesus became a curse for us and has taken away the curse. Yes. Hallelujah.
The father of lies, coming to steal kill and destroy
All my hopes of being good enough.
I hear him saying, “cursed are the ones who can’t abide.”
He’s right, hallelujah, he’s right.
The devil is preaching the song of the redeemed,
That I am cursed and gone astray.
I cannot gain salvation
Embracing accusation.
Could the father of lies be telling the truth of
God to me tonight?
That if the penalty of sin is death, then death is mine.
I hear him saying, “cursed are the ones who can’t abide.”
He’s right, hallelujah, he’s right.
The devil is preaching the song of the redeemed,
That I am cursed and gone astray.
I cannot gain salvation
Embracing accusation.
The devil’s singing over me an age old song
That I am cursed and gone astray.
Singing the first verse so conveniently over me,
He’s forgotten the refrain...
Jesus saves!
Okay today, I am going to curse at teh first cop I talk to today. Which could be at anytime through out the day! I know the majority of the County Deputies, City Cops, Tribal, and BIA cops. Plus the state patrol rolls through off and on through out the day! This should be fun! Let's see if I get a fine! Read the below article link and yet again SHAKE your head and wonder what the hell is wrong with this world again!

Tell ya what someone sites me for cursing in my own house and it is over something that is cursable such as what the woman was dealing with............I would turn around and press charges on the cop for failing to assist a US Citizen who was being assulted by a household item!
