Quick Post: A few pictures from San Japan 1.5 Anime Convention, San Antonio, TX.
Security Level: Low (Public / Everybody)

Yesterday, Cynthia and I went to San Antonio, TX for the San Japan 1.5 Anime Convention. I'd like to tell you guys more about it, but I have to leave for work in 15 minutes. So I'm just going to post a few pics real quick and I'll post some more later with more pics.

The Alamo (I'm on the left)

Spike and Faye (Cowboy Bebop cosplay)

Jet and Julia (Cowboy Bebop cosplay)

Who ever can guess who these two are, wins a prize!
(clue: Naruto and .hack cosplay)

That's all I have for now. I took lots of pics. It's a four hour drive from Houston to San Antonio but we were able to manage doing all this within 24 hours. I'll be back to post more pics tomorrow.

Note: The new few entries regarding the anime convention might be friends-only entries.

See Ya Space Cowboy!

Ye ole pictureths.
A few select photos from the visit to the Renn Faire from this past weekend.

Savannah's costume is one I made last week. I was pretty busy!

There was a fabulous falconry show. The guy knew his stuff and was really down to earth. I was envious a bit. It has been a dream of mine since I was very little to be into falconry. This one was called "Fluffy".

A necklace I loaned Nomad.

Spotted her through the crowd.

This one is called "Jack" because he is blind in one eye.

A better view of her costume. I didn't add any boning to the corset though I probably should have.

Here is a view of my dress I made for this year's fair. It's not quite any time period but a medley of them. I wanted to create a "mourning gown". Like my Edward Gorey pose? Haha.

The whole time watching this beautiful fellow I was thinking of Myclette. I was lucky enough to capture him winking.

I do have quite a few other pictures that I would love to post but I wont because of keeping anonymity for certain family members. So unless I get permission I will have other pictures not from the Renn Faire for tomorrow.

."Gouda could solve your problems. That's all I'm saying."
.I'm costuming the opera Dido and Aeneas. Sort of. I have a co-designer with whom I've had some... how shall I put this? Issues.

.Last week, since my schedule opened up a bit, I came in to work in the costume shop Tuesday afternoon and evening, Wednesday morning, afternoon and evening, and Thursday morning and afternoon. Even though what I had been working on didn't come out exceptionally well, I felt accomplished. I had really worked hard.

.I came in Friday because I had some extra time. My co-designer immediately bitched me out about cleaning up after myself in the shop (something she never manages to do) and was incredibly unenthusiastic about the sort-of-Roman skirt I had constructed. I was totally crestfallen. I stuck around, eager to show that I could be of service, but she never offered me something to work on with her except bending a crown into shape. Finally, I stopped her in what she was doing and said, "Can we just sit down right now and figure out a timetable--when I'm going to be doing things and when you're going to be doing things and when they need to be finished. Please." She looked at me before turning to the skirt on which she was working. She stared at the skirt, said, "Umm..." and never finished her sentence. At that point, I was incredibly frustrated. I waited five more minutes, her still blowing me off, before finally saying, "I think I'm going to go," and just heading out.

.I had a message on my voicemail yesterday from my professor telling me he sees my co-designer working but really thinks I need to be spending more time in the shop and working more toward the show. I was flabbergasted. And furious. I spent every spare second (other than Saturday, my only free day on the weekends) in the shop... and here he was accusing me of not working on the show! I'M SO BUSY IN LIFE THAT I HAVEN'T UPDATED MY BLOG IN POSSIBLY A MONTH--AND HE THINKS I'M NOT WORKING HARD ENOUGH!!!!! Obviously my codesigner, the cunt, said something. These are conclusions he could not have reached on his own. He's never in the shop to know those things, so someone would have to have told him this. SHE would have had to have told him this.

.My first thought was to drop the opera and just costume some dance piece for credit, but I know my professor would be completely disappointed. I just have to do the grown-up thing--I have to confront my co-designer. I have to tell her, "You're wrong about me, and this is why (you stupid home-schooled bitch)." I, of course, would not say the things in parentheses. I fucking hate drama when it's not where it belongs--in a box, on a screen, or on a stage.

Pictures promised...
Here are our Halloween pictures! There aren't that many but I'm happy to share.

Savannah was once again the embodiment of winter or as others call her the Snow Queen. It's a good costume because I made it with warm cloth and also fleece. The cloak keeps her nice and toasty! I love making costumes.

My mom decided to come over and help Leif hand out candy. It was a very happy surprise! My costume is another one I made a while back. I love my hat!! That was picked up in an antique store. Too bad I couldn't wear it day to day without getting funny looks.

Mom was busy frightening children and Molly, her puppy, helped out. ;)

One of the best and original costumes I saw was this lady. "The Crazy Cat Lady" She would throw cats at people as she walked by.

Some of the other costumes were very questionable. Uck! Some kids didn't even dress up. Where is the fun in that??

The Pressure of Halloween

You never know what to go as.

We had a little Halloween party at work today. Mostly it's just the bosses that bother to wear a costume. I was wearing my normal work uniform. I told one of my bosses that if I did bother to wear a costume that I would go all out. I would wear something that would scare most of my co-workers to death.

He asked, "What's that?"

I answered, "Border Patrol!"
