Now that the Supreme Court has finally gotten off its butt and given the people of the District of Columbia their constitutional right to own firearms in their homes without fear of arrest perhaps crime and murders might come down now. For over 30 some years District residents weren't allowed to own a handgun or shotgun legally for that matter, any type of firearm. Those who did had to have it unloaded and locked and kept in a safe place. My question has always been, what happens when the burgular or robbers attempts to breakin ? Do you tell him to wait while you fine the ammo to load it or let me find the key to unlock it ? Only Law enforcement officers are allowed to carry weapons in the District, not only that, there are many SPO's Special Police Officers in the District working on Government jobs that have arrest powers but no weapons and those who do are only allowed to carry 38 cal. revolvers. Whats my point here ?
1. The police don't protect you and your family from harm you do. They can only respond after the fact. Until something happens they'er hepless in helping you/us. Mayor Fenty tried tirelessly to get this case through the Court, he wants all guns out of the District. He feels there's no need, and yet DC is like a war zone. Anytime you have 8 people killed in a nine hours, you have a crime ridden city. This was just one weekend.
2. Restricting your ownership of your choice of weapons is another means of control. Meaning you don't get to own a semi automatic weapon.
3. The old law as far as having weapons in your home will be illegal for 21 days until the Metro PD has come up with the propper registration forms and fees.
4. There will be no carry permits issued to private citizens, you can only own a firearm for the home not carry, citizens may feel just a little safer now. In the State of Va, people a have right to carry permits, and crime is down.
5. We as citizens need to look at our constitutional rights under the second ammendment and paay close attention. We barely won this on in the highest court in the land. 5 to 4, it seems we have 4 justices who wish to rewrite the constitution their way. If we aren't careful all gun owners will have their weapons taken away just like they have in England, and look at that country plum wild and off the hook with crime.
6. Criminals have better weapons then the police beleive it or not.
A majority of Americans view Homosexuality as an immoral practice; however Homosexual Agenda Activists have been slowly eroding that majority. Of the majority that views Homosexuality as immoral, growing numbers ironically are beginning to view that Homosexuals should equal rights as Heterosexuals. For me this is a moral/immoral American paradox that I feel is highly influenced by a Secular Humanist agenda of removing and denigrating Christian Values as the bedrock of American society.
Even I, a confirmed homophobe, am beginning to wonder where to draw the line on what is acceptable and unacceptable according to the U.S. Constitution on the Freedom of thought or expression.
I clearly believe the creators of the American Constitution would be horrified at the acceptance of Homosexual and Alternate Lifestyles acceptable in American Society today. It is also clear a significant majority of the Founding Fathers including the Liberals favorite – Thomas Jefferson – would be abhorrent that black slaves have received full manumission with an ever growing enlightened equality of Constitutional civil rights.
As much as I hate to say it, the Left has done some great things for America along the lines of civil rights. That is the greatness of the American Republic style of Democracy. The right thing always seems to manifest even if it is difficult road.
Nonetheless for every good thing the Left has accomplished there also seems to be a price that degenerates America’s moral absolutes causing a slow whirlpool of sinking values that in the late 20th century and early 21st century seems to weaken the nature of what has made America great by blurring what is good and what is wrong.
That “blurring” is the elimination by the Left of Christian Morality as the standard of right and wrong in American society. The blur is even now increasing because of the push for multiculturalism to override what has been America’s National Motto: E Pluribus Unum – Out of the many, one.
The Multicultural push by the Left will create a divisive America in which citizens will demand their cultural heritage to supersede the Constitutional Rule of Law; e.g. Sharia Law by Muslims, Relativism by atheists, the establishment of multiple languages such as Spanish or Arabic to be a part of legal documentation or public signage and so forth.
E Pluribus Unum will be eliminated in favor of a divisive and ultimately an inward destructiveness of Ex plures, divortium - Out of the many, division.
I write all this to make this observation: The Barack Hussein Obama campaign website has an open letter [In case of removal click HERE] to the homosexual activist organization – LGBT – “assuring them he believes in ‘full equality’ for homosexuals and stating that, unlike Sen. Hillary Clinton, he advocates the complete repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act.” (WND)
Since a majority of Americans consider homosexuality to be an immoral lifestyle, a vote for Obama is a vote for immorality. Does America need more immorality?
I posted an article by Jim Kouri on the Slantright.com website. Kouri hammers a Georgia State Judge for playing the slanted left activist in the State Judiciary.
I filed this under "All about Democrats" because former Democratic Party Governor Roy Barnes of Georgia file the suit and Democratic Party Secretary of State for Georgia - Cathy Cox - is highly supportive of the suit. Cox is running for Governor against the Republican incumbent Governor Sonny Perdue.
If this does not smack of Democratic Party collusion with a liberal judge I do not what would!
"The restraining order means the law will not be in effect for the state's primaries on July 18, which is good news for Democrats who will now be allowed to continue their practice of busing illegal aliens, deadly people from local cemeteries and others to the polls."
If the Democratic Party cannot influence the legitimate electorate, then they simply create an electorate to vote them into office. The slanted left Judge in Georgia has ensured that the July 18 primary will have Democrats voting, let us hope that the State Supreme Court overturns the Judge before the main ballot in November. I have confidence the State Supreme Court will do so, for it is the same group
Gay Marriage Amendment Supporters Seek Constitutional Convention?
By Robert Novak
June 24, 2006
The National Ledger
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Supporters of a constitutional amendment to keep the courts from legalizing homosexual marriage, stunned by poor support in the recent Senate vote, are beginning a campaign for a constitutional convention.
The provision of the Constitution's Article V requiring such a convention if called by two-thirds of the state legislatures has never been used. Fear of throwing the Constitution open to general amendment has overridden support for specific issues. However, key advocates of barring gay marriages believe the constitutional convention strategy will keep the issue alive.
A recent memo circulated within the anti-gay marriage coalition lists Princeton Professor Robby George, Tony Perkins and Chuck Donovan of the Family Research Council, and conservative financial consultant Frank Cannon as favoring the strategy.

This is an excerpt from the top of this Robert Novak post in The National Ledger. This is an idea that its time has come. Conservatives and Liberals alike fear the Constitutional version of a National Constitutional Convention. The reason for the fear is the potential for changes that both sides of the political scale feel may not be able to live with.
A Convention may be called for a specific purpose; however a Convention might open the door to address everyone’s pet peeve.
I am no longer fearful of such a situation. There are definite issues the moral majority needs to address in this nation. The Leftists and irreligious are allowing morality to be steeped in Humanism and relativity. I hear all the time that not everyone has a Christian viewpoint and that the Christian viewpoint is archaic. While it might be true that not everyone has a Christian viewpoint, I believe the majority viewpoint in America is still a Christian one. Therefore a concept of what is and what is not archaic would only be valid to the irreligious and immoral.
It is time to take Humanistic and Left leaning Judges out of the equation of legislating American Law. The Judiciary is there to interpret law, not to create law.
It is time for the people of the States to decide moral issues of homosexuality, prayer, religion in public, abortion and so on. It is appalling that a huge majority of people may decide an issue by Initiative or by being a voting constituency of its Representatives and then have a Left thinking Judge strike the Law down.
Here comes the neoconservative in me. I am all for a loyal opposition, however some serious issues need to be addressed relating Presidential Appointments. For example instead of the Senate confirming an appointee, the framework should be debate and up or down vote. Screw the procedural hogwash relating to committee. If the person is not qualified, then vote the person down.
Yes, the time for a Constitutional Convention is needful.
