Fugly McNugget is back with attitude
So the McNugget blogs again. Has it really been that long? Well a lot has happened and I won't even go into it. Basically I can sum it up as, people suck (not all but a lot of em) and computers suck. People and computers. Ain't that a kick in the ass - I can't win either way, human or machine. Animals are better, but mine tend to crap all the time and I'm always cleaning up shit, whether figuratively with humans and computers or with the physical crap lovingly created by animals. I wake up and feel like I'm in the Osbournes reality show. I smell coffee brewing along with the aroma of dog poo. The dog was housebroken til he got old, now he can't get up quick enough to go outside and the morning routine is often picking up dog crap, washing his blanket and getting ready to do it all over again the next day. But I digress....

My beautiful install of Ubuntu Linux is now gone because of a faulty fucking hard drive I installed it on. All the work I did the past two days is gone. I will never get those days back and the one thing I hate more than anything in God's universe is doing the same shit over and over and over. So I can't go out or get any actual "work" done today, I have to sit in my office and do a complete reinstall and tweak everything back to how I had it when it all worked perfectly. Most of my programs from winxp can be used on Linux, which is a fantastic OS until the hard drive ruined everything. My xp runs on 3.2gig dual core so that fucker had best not slow down or die. I hear Micro isn't going to support xp anymore and the hell if I'm going to Vista if I can help it. As it is, I have nearly everything I need on Linux Ubuntu now, with exception of a few web authoring programs that are made for xp. Even then, it depends what language they were written in, as a lot of things made for xp can be installed on Linux. The fucking clincher is that the stable OS, Linux got installed on a faulty Hard drive. The crash was hardware related, not software. I guess it's better Linux was destroyed because all of their FREE programs are simply downloaded again....Windows bullshit? HA!!! Swish, other programs all want a new reg-key, and it depends what jackass company you deal with--some will automatically send you a new reg-key license because they have you on file as having PAID for the software. Another like Moyea video FLV converter? If your computer crashes and you have no reg-key, it's fuck you Charley - buy it again. Nope, I'm a Linux girl now, I'll find me a freebie.

So my stupid point in this rant is: Computers will always suck, pen and paper will always be superior for anything other than web authoring or things you actually NEED a computer for. Linux is reliable unless you put it on a sloppily made mass produced lemon of a hard drive.

At this point, I, the reluctant she-geek who would rather be outdoors, has 6 computers total, 5 in win xp, 1 HD on the big machine running Linux and then there's my MacBook laptop. Windows, Linux, Apple... I speak all three...now if I learned to speak Klingon I'd be a geek's wet dream.

Anyhow, I have to go fix things.....AGAIN. Fugly is one pissed off Nugget today.

Video Games Live
This past Friday I went to the Video Games Live concert which was performed by our wonderful Louisville Orchestra. For those who don't know what Video Games Live is, it is basically a concert in which the orchestra plays the music from video games, old and new. The music is played alongside video footage of the games. This is the 2nd year that I've attended Video Games Live and for the second year in a row I had a hell of a time. There were some new additions to the music lineup this year. This year they played music from the Metroid series, BioShock, and Castlevania. Of course, that wasn't all. There was music from games like Tetris to the Halo series. And you can never forget about the music from Final Fantasy.

There was also a special guest appearance by Martin Leung also known as the Blindfolded Pianist. This link will lead you to a YouTube video of him playing the first part of a Mario Medley blindfolded. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHn-L6odDP4  This is no joke. I saw Martin Leung perform this feat of piano playing genius at Video Games Live when he played the same Mario Medley and did much of it blindfolded. Simply put, he is amazing to watch live.

If you're a gamer and you happen to enjoy the music from video games then I suggest you see this event at least once in your lifetime. Just like last year, it was a blast. Last year, was the first time VGL had ever come down to Louisville, Ky. There were old and new fans there for this years' edition. When they come back next year I will be there.

I forgot to make a note of this. If you visit www.ocremix.org there will be a new download of remixed music from Jade Empire. I know because some of the founders of OCRemix showed up at VGL and talked about it. So if you like OCRemix and you like Jade Empire, check it out.

Peace.
