Monday Ramblings
It's been obscenely hot around here lately (I'm sure it's been the same where many of you live).  After consistent temperatures in the 90s the last week or so, today is literally a breath of fresh air.  Right now it's 77... and the air conditioning is finally off for a day.  A cool breeze is drifting across my desk from the open window, creating ideal blogging conditions Smiley  Having been "mini-blogging" the last few posts, as it seems, it's good to be able to sit and work a couple things out this afternoon.

The last few days have been crazy, but very good.  Deanna came up on Wednesday, and we hit the Ohio State Fair on Thursday.  I have never been so hot in my life... it was pretty disgusting.  Friday we went up to Tiffin to see old friends, Saturday my cousin got married up there, and (thanks to my current unemployedness) we stayed until Sunday and went to church up there.  She headed home yesterday afternoon, and things have been fairly quiet around here since then.

I love our house here in Westerville.  There is a small wooded area out behind our house (kind of rare in the middle of the city...), and when I sit at my desk and look out the window, all I can see are trees.  the music playing on my speakers blends with the sounds of bugs and birds outside... today is simply wonderful.

I'm actually working some this week, which is good.  I'm playing with the Westerville Symphony this weekend, so I'll be practicing with them throughout the week, plus the band I'm playing with right now (Brandon Abbott Trio) has shows the next three weekends, so we're keeping busy.  We just finished recording our first EP and it sounds really good... we're doing a photo shoot tomorrow for the cover art.  All in all, good times.

Well, I suppose at least a bit of productivity is in order today... perhaps more later.

Goodwill Hunting
IMG_7021.JPG hosted for free by ImageShack

I bought a rocking glider at Goodwill today although I didn't go there with that intention.  That's what I like about thrift stores, they are full of surprises.  The chair is like new and the cushions are serene hunter green.  However, since my office is still carpeted in the periwinkle blue that was most likely fashionable when the room was my daughter's,  I covered it with a cow throw that also must have been fashionable then.

The chair looked forlorn and abandoned there among all the others.  I wondered if it had rocked and comforted a child and given a young mother needed respite as she sang a lullaby, or if it had eased the ache of a grandmother as she knitted and hummed a hymn.  I do hear something when I rock... and read... and the room is very quiet.

This is the way our home has been furnished--not with thrift store furniture, that's a new concept--but with items gathered here and there that I liked for one reason or another. I always thought that one day I would toss everything out and start over.  Urban modern would be nice, but since I'm neither urban nor modern it doesn't seem likely.

With School out ...

As amazing as it may sound, since school is out, I am struggling to find something of consequence to relate here in this space!

I am also struggling to "let go" of my baby ... but seasons change whether we like it or not, whether it's comfortable of not.  This change is certainly NOT comfortable even though I know it is good.

More Thai Fun! Interested in you and poetry

Howdy Howdy all!

I suppose you all thought that the last post was all the terrible footage that existed of Myclette  yours truly and callmeroger . Well too bad so sad it was not! This is video has me (behind the camera of course) trying to learn how to record on the darn thing...

THIS IS NOT A CANON COMMERCIAL!!!!!

As you can see they are taunting me about my ignorance of what my camera actually does...the funny thing is that I only last month learned how to record and upload videos on the thing even though I got it last December for my B-day.....pitiful.

anyway school is tomorrow and I have to go there straight away after work and hope that my little bus itenerary I put together works out well enough....

How about some poetry...here goes....(for you, for you, for you)

Life In A Love

Escape me?
Never---
Beloved!
While I am I, and you are you,
So long as the world contains us both,
Me the loving and you the loth
While the one eludes, must the other pursue.
My life is a fault at last, I fear:
It seems too much like a fate, indeed!
Though I do my best I shall scarce succeed.
But what if I fail of my purpose here?
It is but to keep the nerves at strain,
To dry one's eyes and laugh at a fall,
And, baffled, get up and begin again,---
So the chace takes up one's life ' that's all.
While, look but once from your farthest bound
At me so deep in the dust and dark,
No sooner the old hope goes to ground
Than a new one, straight to the self-same mark,
I shape me---
Ever
