Comedians @ MindSay
K10 reports that Hollywood lost another talented entertainer on Saturday, August 9th. Comic actor Bernie Mac died earlier today of complications from pneumonia, according to his publicist and a member of his family. Mac was only 50 years-old and had been hospitalized in his hometown of Chicago for more than a week with the lung infection. On Thursday, Mac's publicist had released that his condition was "stable." The illness wasn't related to sarcoidosis, a lung disease that Mac had which was in remission since 2005.
"When I got the call this morning, it was just devastating news," said Chicago Sun-Times columnist Stella Foster. "Let's face it: Bernie Mac was one of a kind. He was the best of the best in terms of giving you a good laugh."
Mac -- born Bernard Jeffrey McCollough -- starred in the Fox television series "The Bernie Mac Show." Some recent film roles include the "Ocean's Eleven" series, "Friday," "Get on the Bus," "Transformers" and "Bad Santa."
I have a list of comedians I love....here they are:
George Carlin (of course!)
Dane Cook (Someone sh** on the coats!)
Adam Sandler (*thinks of Happy Gilmore**)
Lewis Black (There is a Starbucks.....right across from another Starbucks! That is the end of the universe.)
Jon Stewart (*thinks of the Daily Show*)
Bill Engvall (Here's your sign...)
Ron White (Call me Tater Salad)
That's all of 'em. I hope you like some of them as well...

Don't sit around and fret...it's BUSY
out there. Develop a routine that GUARANTEES
SUCCESS!
==========================
What's your routine?
==========================
Do you have a daily or weekly routine to "ground" you
as an actor or as a person?
SOME SUGGESTIONS:
1. A daily "cold reading" practice session (at least 15 minutes,
use the newpaper or a book or a script...look down, get the
words, look up say the words)
2. A "physical" workout of some sort. Get to the gym or just walk
the dog...but DAILY you need exercise if you want to have physical
skills to go along with your acting skills.
3. A "mental/sensory" exercise every day(10-15 Min). Use the
imagination to create mental and sensory situations to practice
connecting with imaginary circumstances. Don't wait for an acting
teacher, do it on your own.
4. A "career" evaluation session. Write down the good things you
are doing each day, the networking, the growing, the studying,
the contacts you make, etc., and do a tally of what you plan to
do to inch forward TODAY!!!
The total of time spent daily on the above list should take
about an hour...so you have to budget your free time to stay
sharp.
Some weekly suggestions:
1. Attend a workout class or host one at your home with
a group of fellow actors. IT'S IMPORTANT that you
don't let your practice skills drop if you can't afford an
expensive class. Some of the best
workouts are the MEMBER EVENTS at www.actorsite.com
2. Get out and see some LIVE theater at least once a week.
You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll be entertained, and INSPIRED!!!
3. Get out and see a movie in a theater at least once per week.
There are budget films in Hollywood...get out to see them, so
that you experience the THEATER experience at least once per week.
4. Socialize with friends at least once a week. Go to church,
where there are all kinds of people to meet and talk with...
go to other activities where you around "real" people.
5. Ride the bus or Metro at least once in a while...the Sunset bus from
end to end is a trip. Going downtown for an event on the Metro is
a wonderful experience.
6. Keep a log of how many positive things you've done each
week to further your career. If you don't evaluate, you are MORE
LIKELY TO GET DISCOURAGED. When you acknowledge your progress, no matter
how small, then you are more likely to KEEP INSPIRED...
7. WRITE A SCRIPT TO STAR IN...write a script in which you are the STAR.
It will help you define who you are, and it will make you respect
the creative process EVEN MORE...
