Terrell Owens Becomes Hillary Clinton

Let the crying begin.

Giants -21

Cowboys -17

The Divisional playoffs ended on a high note yesterday. I heard many bodies hitting the ground as people threw themselves off rooftops last night. Check out T.O.:

"This is not about Tony," Owens said, sobbing. "You guys can point the finger at him. You can talk about the vacation. And if you do that, it's really unfair. It's really unfair. It's my team. It's my quarterback. If you guys do that, man, it's unfair. We lost as a team. We lost as a team, man."

Wah!! Boohoo!!

That ought to teach those arrogant pricks. And speaking of people with no class...

Let's turn our attention to another group of fans. Indy fans, what were you thinking?

Chargers -28

Colts -24

I started out this game rooting for the Colts just because I hate the Chargers more. However, I changed my mind after something that happened in between the 3rd and 4th quarters. A little presentation was held for the national winners of the NFL's punt, pass and kick competitions. This is a program set up for the youths of America. The winners get to show up on TV during one playoff game every year and receive their awards. Yesterday, the winners are being announced and everything is fine and dandy. Each kid is wearing a jersey of their favorite team. Then a little girl is awarded who happens to be wearing a New England Patriots jersey. The Indy crowd starts booing! They hate the Patriots so much that they let their rage out on a kid!

They deserved to lose after that classless showing. That said, Chargers QB Philip Rivers is also a clown. He could be seen jawing with the fans for most of the second half. Hey, grow up, man! Let's see how much you run your mouth in New England next week.

Here are my predictions for the championship games:

Chargers -17

Patriots -34

Giants -14

Packers -28

NFL’s Game of the Century: Pats vs Colts

Today’s game between the New England Patriots (8-0) and Indianapolis Colts (7-0) is a historic one for the NFL.  It’s the first time two teams with records better than 6-0 have ever met during the regular season.  Given how dominant the two teams have been this year, the winner will have a fair shot becoming only the second team in NFL history to go undefeated.

The game is also a rematch of last year’s AFC Championship Game, which the Colts won 38-34.  Despite having won last year’s match-up and being in their own stadium, the Colts are 6.5 point underdogs in the game.

So, with a few hours to go until kickoff, who are you picking, Colts or Pats?

It's a Blackout Thing...
... I've always been fascinated by the NFL's broadcast "blackout" rules -- the ones that prohibit a local market from showing a local football game on television unless that local venue has sold out its seats in the stadium.  The purpose, apparently, is to motivate local fans to actually go to the games rather than sit home and watch it on TV.

(More information here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackout_(broadcasting)#NFL_blackout_policy )

Anyway -- I read this interesting tidbit on the Consumerist website:

Here's an odd situation. There are only two markets that will not be able to see the much-anticipated Colts/Pats game on Sunday, Houston and Cleveland—unless the Raiders manage to sell out their game and lift the NFL blackout. If they do, San Francisco will have to watch the Raiders. And they're not real happy about it.

The Raiders have until 1:15 p.m today to sell the tickets. Will they do it? If they do, many Bay Area pro football fans will be "crying in their beer," according to the SF Chronicle.

Which would you rather watch? Raiders (2-5) vs Texans (3-5) or the ultimate Brady/Manning showdown?

"We are always interested in showing the Raiders' game because that's mainly what people want to see," said local station spokesperson Akilah Monifa said. "But at this time, it doesn't look like that will happen. It doesn't look like it's going to sell out, although that could change."

The Chronicle does a really excellent job trying to explain the "Byzentine" NFL blackout rules, so if you're ready for a headache, head on over. Patriots match ups are drawing a lot of eyes this year, and stations that don't show the big ones are besieged with angry phone calls.

Although it was not aired by a Bay Area station, the Patriots-Cowboys game was the most watched TV show in the nation that week. Its audience of 29.1 million viewers dwarfed that of the second-most watched show, "CSI," by 9 million viewers.

It also was the most-watched regular-season Sunday NFL game in a decade, drawing slightly fewer than the 29.7 million who watched the Cowboys-49ers game on Nov. 10, 1996.

The Patriots-Colts telecast should beat those numbers. Even without the Bay Area, it will be available to 94 percent of the country. The only markets that definitely won't get it are Houston and Cleveland.

"The regular-season average for a Sunday NFL game was 16.3 million last year," league spokesman Seth Palansky said. "This game is likely to come in around double the average."

I find this fascinating -- probably because I don't want NFL football much anymore ever since Washington, DC lost its NFL franchise back in the late 1990s and got themselves a team which could possibly beat a pee-wee league club team about half of the time.   But this is the game people will want to see! Even if these other markets.  The NFL, however, has its own stupid rules about what fans can and can't see.

Nice way to treat your customers, NFL...

Superbowl XLI!
Colts take the Superbowl 29 to 17! Hooray! So my sister and I, plus one other friend, were the only Colts fans against 15+ Bears fans at the Superbowl party we went to. Just one of the reasons that made victory all the sweeter! The truth of the matter is that I never watch football, but I love the Superbowl. Don't ask me why. Anyway, although I was rooting for the Colts, I must hand it to the Bears for making history by making the first touch down in the first 15 seconds! I have to admit that I was very impressed! On the Colts end of it, their last touch down was incredible! Such an exciting Superbowl this year! Peyton Manning is my man!

I tried to tell you

Congrats to the Colts for their 29-17 victory in the Super Bowl.

Congrats to me for almost predicting the final score. My pick was 31-17.

I told you to take the colts and give the points. Did you win any money in Vegas?

Maybe next year you will listen. Just in case you are wondering...

No, I will not be giving out a prediction for the Pro Bowl. If you are placing a wager on the Pro Bowl then you need to seek help immediately.
