Cold Day @ MindSay

Tough year ahead

Now I am really starting to see the gas price crunch on my budget.  Food is way up and my salary just ain't keeping up with the pace.  When will it all end.

I know the answer to that but I still want to bitch about it.  I stayed cold all winter and kept my heating costs way down from last year.  But summer is going to be even tougher.  I can stand the cold.  You can put on more clothes, gloves and whatever else needed to keep warm.  But how do you stay cool when it's 90' outside and 80' in the house?  Air conditioning is a must.  In April, my electric bill is going up another 10 %.  Whoopee!  More expenses.

Since last summer I have been very prudent in my electricity usage.  I have found that I do not need the hot water heater on all of the time only every other evening.  So that is one saving.  I turn the electricity off for my entertainment system when I am going to be out of the house for long periods of time.  I keep the drapes up almost all the time so the sun can help heat the house.  That will change once the temps get go up.

I had decided a couple of months ago that I will buy another standing fan and put it my living room.  I figure that until July I might be o.k. using that instead of the a/c.

I have been looking in the papers, careerbuilder and other sources for a second, part time job or mabye another job.  I haven't worked two jobs since college but a guy must do what he has to do, you know?  Whatever will be will be but this is going to be a tough year ahead.

I think I will buy a lottery ticket tomorrow.  You can't win it if you ain't in it.

Fog and Ice
Despite having worn contacts since the age of sixteen (I started wearing glasses in the second grade), my first instinct when I come in from the cold, cheeks glowing and face just beginning to hurt from the icy wind, and am enveloped in a warm embrace of 'room temperature' - my first instinct is to reach up and take off my glasses so that I can clear the fog off.

That being said, it is a lovely, chilly day. I am personally in favor of finding a friend, and as hooky-playing conspirators, we will dash off laughing, and hike around and play outside until our buns freeze, or the sun goes down - whichever happens first.

Winter's not my favorite season, but I do most definitely appreciate it. :D

Wain Wain... Go away... come again some other day!

A friend got some tickets for the Ren Fest and I got lucky enought to be off today so we met over there this morning... Yuck... Major rain and cold.  I can take the cold... I can take the rain... I can't hande both!  LOL

She was running late (it took her longer to get into town than she thought) so turned out I missed the opening procession again.  Arg... One day I am going to see that bitch. I stood out in the drizzling damp for an hour till it occured to me to wait in my car with the heater running and get the feeling back in my toes.  She got there 5 minutes later.

Naturally there was hardly anyone there.  I didn't dress up this time.  Too cold and wet to fight a costume.  We made one good circle of the place and shopped a bit for some last day bargains and hit the road.  I made sure we took the time for a trip over to "my" dragon bench that I love.  I need to take that sucker home!  LOL

OK... You see how my Hoodie is dark pink and light pink... That's cause it's wet!

Next Stop... Lunch and girl talk in the woodlands.
