Morning coffee

When I get a chance, or have the supplies, I will make my own coffee at home and take it on the road with me on the way to work.  It's cheaper, quicker, and there is less of a chance that it won’t be made to my liking.  However, I ran out of coffee a few days ago and haven’t gone to the store to get more, so its Tim Horton’s on the way to work.  I pull up to go through the drive-through, in Johnston near the highway onramp, but there is a guy blocking the line, talking on his phone.  He clearly just picked this spot to BS to whomever, with no desire to get in line.

So I give the guy a little toot.  Using the horn in the car is all about the pressure and frequency, otherwise you can really piss someone off.  I give him the light toot, and he proceeds to move out of the way in quick fashion.  Total time elapsed, 15 seconds.  Not bad, so I give him the thank you wave as I drive by.  This is when I notice him yelling “Fuckin…” at me.  Another stupid Johnston Italian Mafioso wannabe.  I hate these idiots.  They puff out their chests and talk like retard meatheads.  You know that guy.

Anyways, as he see’s my hand raised, he backs off 100% immediately and starts on the “oh, yeah, no problem.”  Too late, you’ve exposed yourself as a prick, moron, and degenerate in the span of 45 seconds, not to mention ignorant for blocking the lane in the first place.  First impressions count my friend; you get no second chances, way to be an asshole.

Getting ready.
Well my camera came yesterday but the lens wasn't in the package. They said because it was in a different warehouse they would send it separately. I'm very disappointed with them right now and I'm hoping to haggle some extra items from them. ;)

I really need that lens before tomorrow. You see tomorrow we are heading out to get my sis in Rhode Island & I was looking forward to breaking it in. (Well, I hope not literally breaking it in.) We rented a 2008 Chevy Uplander and it is comfy & roomy! It will make the trip much more enjoyable. On the plus side it takes E-85 so it will make it much more affordable.

I wish we had more time for this trip so that we could take our time and sightsee. I'm so excited!! I love traveling. I guess it's in my blood.

I made up some coffee and am making my list of to-do and to-remember. Ever since I went to Costa Rica I have been addicted to their coffee. So when I find a good Costa Rican coffee (especially if it's Fair-Trade) I snatch it up.

I hope to work on some of my drawings at some point in time today. That's mostly an IF I get my cleaning and packing set. ;) I did draw something up the other day. Once again this is another quick sketch and I didn't clean up the drawing as much as I could. I am happy with how it came out though. YAY!

Hope your day is going great. Remember the weekend will be here soon!

Paris Hilton or War, Which is news?
Thank god for coffee. I have been up since five-thirty this morning because some work was being done at the shoe store. The new owner of the building is having a fire alarm installed. My father wanted me to be there to make sure they didn't fuck anything up, or walk off with any tools or shoes.
I just sat around drinking coffee and trying to stay awake while the work was being done. I am so freaking tired right about now. I'm on my third cup of coffee for the day and I'm still not quite awake.
My father is being nice enough to let me talk some time off before I head back there to close for the day. But as ussual I am too busy, I'm taking a little time at my favorite coffee shop and then I have to go and pay my tuition.

But this morning I  flipped on NPR while the work was being done and listened to the news. When Dad come in at opening time (8:30) he changed the station to the commercial talk radio station. He really just wanted to hear his ads.
I found it very interesting the the NPR news was almost a complete 180 of what the commercial talk was. NPR was reporting about the Iraq funding debate while the Commericial station was talking about American Idol and Paris "I'm a spoiled little rich girl" Hilton trying to get out of serving her prision time.
Why The fuck is Paris Hilton news!?!
You know, we have really reached a sad point as a country where a fucking celebrity is more news worthy then a war. I mean who the fuck has such short attention span that they can only pay attention to what the people in Hollywood are doing?
Or maybe that's not it. Maybe we as a country are just so lonely that we can only see our lives as what we see on  TV.  I mean people are signing a bunch of damn petitions to have the Governator Arnold pardon her. Who the hell is signing that? She broke the law more then once she deserves to serve her time like everyone else.
Thousands and Thousands of people are being killed daily in Iraq and all we care about is Paris Fucking Hilton. They are saying it's unfair for her to go to prison for forty-five day.  What the hell is going on?  You wanna know what is really unfair, The fact that we still occupy Iraq and that our men and women in uniform are dying when they shouldn't have to.
Put things in perspective, Paris Hilton's jail sentence is no where near as bad as George Bush refusing to change strategies on the war. Paris Hilton will serve a month and a half while somewhere there is a child who wil never see her father again because Bush wanted oil.
Which is more important? You tell me.

Thanks,
Mark

One of the Best Places To Be

Because of having so many jobs and having such a wacky schedule I have been unable to indulge in one of my favorite past times.

I love going to PCJ, spending time there reading online, and sipping on a delicious tasting coffee. I haven't been able to do so in almost two months and hadn't realised how much I missed it until now. I went out to lunch with Kari and then came here to PCJ to wait until my little sister gets out of school. So...joy of all joys! I get to spend at least another two hours here!!!! Two whole hours to spend on my own.

Life is good when you've got coffee.

DIVERSITY MAKES FOR A RICH TAPESTRY

I needed this alone time, just being with me. No daughters asking me which dress to wear, if hair looked better straight or curly, or which job offer was intriguing – Alaska or Timbuktu. No nephews or nieces telling me that their moms and dads suck, that the guy in the next seat in class today was cute, or that they don’t want careers but would rather bum through life. And pardon me this time, no buddies heaping their woes on my small weary shoulders. Lol So here I am now at my favorite regular coffee bar with my favorite hot cup of cappuccino. Thor, waiter and friend, was doting on me like a mother hen asked if I wanted a refill on my cup.  Teasingly I told him that I was only half through my first one. He smiled and said that it was getting cold so a hot replacement would be just fine. Well, who’s to argue that?! Still wonder why I like this place? :-)

So my coffee was getting cold, unimaginable. That usually doesn’t happen. I looked through the glass wall out to the street – saw the day outside moving on quite normally as any other day. Boring to a certain point. So I shifted my gaze back to the people traffic inside the mall, at least that part fronting the coffee bar. I wonder what goes on behind those bland expressionless faces. Often what’s seen on the outside doesn’t necessarily reflect what’s within. Who was it that said -- a person is a behavior triangle– one is how people see him; another is how he wants people to see him; and the other is, how he sees himself – if I remember that correctly.  Here at the mall, the battle ensues within the person as any one of this grapple for center stage. I guess we can say that it’s the same thing in any other arena of life a person finds himself. One or any side comes out to the fore in response to the encounter, environment, or circumstance presented. Oh well!

So much for that now, I withdrew into memory lane the mood shifting wistful. Whoa! Memories came tumbling out like a tipped-over bucket of KFC fried chicken – crisp, spicy, delicious! Lol, nope that doesn’t refer to the memories. :-) Each memory held a precious moment or milestone or meaning which stirred up overwhelmingly varied responses. I’ll say I ran the whole gamut of emotions on a wide assortment of events and experiences. At different points of life have-- made my mark, had mistakes, experienced failure, was betrayed, disillusioned, lost loved ones, loved someone, married, raised children, made friends, worked. Oh yes, these were the diverse threads of my life under the page of yesteryears. There’re more threads to be put in, of course, as this long journey continues.

We each have our different stories to tell, yet we’re all still the same– laugh, cry, grieve, love, hate, fight, hope, trust, believe. Our similarities and differences all make up the colorful threads of our lives, separately or collectively.  Author, Maya Angelou said this --- We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color.

“Maybe you would like a sandwich now?” butted in Thor’s pleasant voice cutting through my reverie.

I looked at him and smiled “I’ve never asked you about your name. Where’d you get that?”

He laughed. “Mom gave it to me”.

“She reads mythology?”

“No. Well, yes, when she met my father. She was doing her literature assignment at the school library….”

Warmed by the thought, I replied  “And she was on the page of Thor when love sparks flew.”

He grinned sheepishly. Ah! -- Their own tapestry of life.

“Thanks, Thor; I think that sandwich sounds good.”  Time alone like this --is indeed time well spent. :-)
