PACKING UP AND HEADING OUT ....
Heading to the river today.
Not sure how many days we will actually stay in but want to stay till Thursday or Friday. It really depends on the weather .....
And then more than likely we will pull out of camp for the year. Its going to be an emotional time ..... accepting that its over. It went by so fast. And winter seems to drag.
Dave tells everyone I'm a different person on the river. And I am. I'm truly happy there. As content as any one person could be. And the darkness and coldness of winter weighs heavy on me. But it is what it is.
Hopefully with the fuel prices dropping a bit I can get back to geocaching again without feeling guilty about wasting fuel and money. That would be nice. Really nice. And a good way to pass the winter blues. Now if I just had a friend to go with me it would make it even better. Dave is burnt out on the geocaching thing. And I feel guilty even asking him to spend a day with me doing it.
Ok .... enough whining .... wasn't the intent of this post. A shower and then busy marking things off the list that need to get done before we leave. Dave is finishing painting a house this morning. Final payment on my car that I got last year that I drove once and has been parked ever since. Shit .... I was done whining. Sorry.
Something about being married to a mechanic ..... damn it Julie, stop WHINING. You going to the river girl ..... BE HAPPY!
***sigh***
Enjoy your week all. Looking for the big nuggets .............. the next big nugget already has a name on it ......
Peace All. J.

One Of Those I Don't Have Anything To Post Post .......
Alright so I am totally lacking for anything of any substance to post ..... so, what else is new, huh? So I'll just start a ramble and see where we end up. Yep, one of those scary kind of posts.
1. Mom left today on a five day trip with her senior group up to Washington. I had to have her at the bus at 7:00 this morning which meant getting up at five to start coffee, smoke a bowl, get dressed, load her and her luggage up, stop at the ATM, pick up her friend, load up her and her luggage (and both of their walkers), go to the post office (an unexpected side trip) and get them over the hill to Yreka to the bus. WHEW! By 7:30 I was whipped for the day. You try wrestling walkers at 6:15 in the morning. They won the battle ..... trust me.
2. Laundry. Yep .... have plenty to do. So I will ..... eventually ..... when I get my butt up from this computer.
3. I know you are all dying (yeah, right) to know about our little visit to Cecilville which could of ended up badly ..... but it didn't. So here is long story short ..... With me being already tipsy from a few beers before we headed out it didn't take much for me to get flat out wasted once we got to the bar for burgers. While waiting for our food in walks three kids (two probably 22-23 and one 19). The youngest a girl looked really familiar to me and she was kinda looking at me so I asked her her name. "Boo" she said. And I knew immediately where I knew her from. She had worked for me a very short period bussing tables at the restaurant where I worked. So we started talking ..... and her boyfriend turned out to be the son of someone I have known since I was a kid and started coming up here. Small world. The third kid ..... rather rough looking ..... and gangster looking with his tattooed neck and face I had never seen before but turned out that Dave grew up next door to his distant cousins or something like that .... so we all sat and talked and partied a bit. Then Dave got up and went in the store to buy a 12-pack and some Swishers (cigars) to take home. I sat outside with the three kids and waited for Dave. Boo asked me for a Swisher and I gave her one. Her boyfriend asked for a beer ..... so I gave him one. After that I'm not really sure what happened (and I hate that) but apparently when Dave grabbed me and our purchases up to leave the tattooed dude took the beer and cigars (and four candy bars) away from Dave and said they belonged to him. Dave said he didn't think so .... and the dude said he bought them ..... they were his ..... and it got uglier from there I guess. The 12-pack ended up torn apart ..... we made it home with three beers. Dave didn't want to fight or end up in jail so they got our cigars and our fucking candy bars. When you are out in the middle of fucking nowhere .... in their fucking territory ..... what do you do? Like I said ..... we will meet again and paybacks are a motherfucker. So much for a long story short.
4. Looks like it could rain this weekend. Not sure when we are heading back into claim but am worried about leaving it alone long due to the aforementioned story.
5. I need to get something productive done. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
6. Thats all folks ..... all I have for now ...... to bad so sad.
Peace. J.

JULIE'S RIVER JOURNAL - WE HAVE THE GOLD .......
This summer on the river has been awesome. With the onset of fall our time there will be short. But we keep pursuing the gold and this trip in found some very very nice pieces. One has been declared the biggest we have found yet. And I am actually going to dedicate that nugget to josiejunk and blueeyedtawni for wishing us luck when we left. Our last stay in resulted in very little to no gold so my expectations were low. Then the first run out of the box ...... BOOM ...... no pictures yet, folks ...... for a reason ...... when we are done for good a final photo will be taken of all the gold found this summer/ fall with separate photos of the larger pieces. Can't wait to get back. Now .....

Arrived at camp at around 5:15 pm. Got unloaded and fed dogs. While Dave got the camp set up I wandered down to the river to get a bucket of water for the dogs. At the river I heard a big "KERSPLASH" and barely saw where it came from. Since I had passed some river otter poop on the way to the river I assumed it was probably him. So I waited and watched to see if it would make another appearance. Then "KERSPLASH" ...... a flipping fish. A big flipping fish ...... Salmon. I yelled for Dave to come and see but it swam up river before he made it down. YAY ...... ! Another first for me on the river this year. Night falls early these days so it is off to bed after dinner. Looking forward to mining tomorrow even though not expecting much. Nice to be here. Warm breeze ......

Up very early. COLD!!! 68 degrees at 10:00 am. After breakfast Dave raked pine needles and split a load of firewood to take down tomorrow. I did dishes and swept out trailer. Got stuff together and headed down to the hole. **After our last no gold trip I told Dave that I wanted to pick where to dig. And that if I was wrong I would no longer rag, nag and argue about where / which direction to go. But if I was right he would have to listen to me from here on out ..... he took me up on it** After looking at the hole over and over again ..... I finally picked a spot to dig. And I wanted a full run of no less than 30 buckets ...... none of this 11 buckets to see if we continue or not ...... I wanted a full uninterrupted run. When we turned off the machine and started to disassemble ...... I moved a couple rocks and there it was ..... our biggest piece by far. Danced, screamed, peed my pants ...... and that was just the beginning ..... there were quite a few nice pieces and a lot of gold flake ...... can't wait for tomorrow! YAY! 86 degrees for the high today. Down to river to look for Salmon and play with the dogs. Took my last river bath ..... water is just toooooo cold. Dinner and a two out of three Backgammon match. Dave won ..... kicked my ass good. Bed.
My woodcutting man .......
Another salmon picture.

Another cold morning! Up early. Breakfast and down to hole to clean out machine and get ready for the days run. Dave filled up wheelbarrow with material and also four full buckets to run while he takes the load of wood home. After Dave left I ran all the material ..... probably over 20 buckets worth. MORE gold! Some more nice pieces to add to yesterdays find. Dave will be excited. Fixed some lunch and started a book. Faye Kellerman .... Stalker. So far so good. 86 degrees for the high today. Dave back late afternoon. Went for a walk and then fixed dinner. We are both tired so bed will come early.

Another early rising. Mornings are brutal cold. After a slow start we headed to the hole and did our first run of the day. Not as much gold as before but still enough to keep us motivated. A late lunch then back down to do an afternoon run. 88 degrees right now. Afternoon run was not a disappointment. More of the gold. Not a lot ..... but enough. Decided to go to Cecilville and grab a burger for dinner. Ran into an ex-coworker of mine at the bar / restaurant. And her boyfriend and their friend. Stayed longer than we needed to. Got very drunk ..... and now there will be some payback involved in the near future ..... too long of a story. But we were .... geez ..... not even sure how to say it except robbed by these fucking kids .... and that seems over-dramatic. But what I did not realize is that it almost came to blows between Dave and "their friend". But PAYBACKS ARE A BITCH .....and I know the right people. Their people ......

Woke up to rain sprinkles and a very dark sky. Wind kicked in and blew out the storm ...... high temp today was 90 degrees. And humid. We had breakfast and did a morning run before packing up and heading home. Another successfull dig. And more nice pieces to add to the collection. We are both very tired. Time to pack up. Hate this part.
Didn't get a whole lot of pictures this trip. Just a few. And three fish videos that I will spare you all from viewing. Pine needles and leaves are falling .... a definite change in the air. Shorter days ..... longer nights. Another month hopefully before we have to pull out. The dogs will miss their trips in. And I will patiently or not so patiently wait for spring ..... and warmer weather to make its apperance once again.
And Jen and Justin need to get over too before we leave for the season. I'm holding them to it. And next year I'm hoping that a whole new group of friends will be able to come and spend time with us at the claim ..... six and Ruthie ..... Kalli ..... this means you ..... Jen's brother Chris ..... it could be one hella summer! And I love sharing this place.
