Cindy Sheehan @ MindSay

When Trumpets Fade

Ah, look at all of you. Living your so called "life" while others are dying for you. How do you repay them? By mocking them, their war, their fight, their life, their death. You have Cindy Sheehan who never gave a damn about her son until after his fall. You have Ted Kennedy who knows more about war than America's best Generals.

While they die you live in the comfort of their sacrafice. And you repay them with your infinite knowledge of war and peace. Peace was never won without bloodshed, a war was never won without death. Innocent people will die. They always do. But remember, the first casualty of war is Innocence. While brave men and women prepare to go into battle you cower in the sidelines like the cowards you are. How I hate you.

General George Patton once said, "There's only one proper way for a professional soldier to die: the last bullet of the last battle of the last war." I can only hope I am worthy of such a death. You know nothing about the Army Values of: Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity and Personal Courage. You only know how to please yourself.

It's funny how people fight and die for your right to speak your mind, but in speaking your mind you demean their sacrafice. But that is what makes this country great. I am proud to serve all of you.

"Heroes are born

when

bullets fly,

when

the earth explodes,

when

cannons roar,

when

trumpets fade..."

You're either with us or against us!
Just prior to the President's state of the union address two women were asked to leave the gallery.  Each had a t-shirt on with a political message.  One of these women was Cindy Sheehan with an anti-war slogan on her shirt and the other was conservative congressman  Bill Young's  wife with a "support the troups" t-shirt.

Read the details at CNN.

The interesting thing here as that both women were ejected for their political speech, one for and one against the President's personal idiology.  Both women did nothing outlandish to draw attention to the shirts.  Both women were asked to cover them and neither would.  (Good for them both!)

One of them was arrested and charged with a crime.  One was not and was personally apologized to by the capitol police.

Can you guess which woman was arrested?

The Fightin' Irish: I heart Phil

There's just something about Phil Donahue that I've always loved.

Not only does he share my birthday (Pearl Harbor Day, if anyone wants to know), but there's just something about a white haired, bespectacled old Irish-American liberal talk show host that just gets my heart pittering and pattering.

Many of you younger folks may not remember this, but Phil Donahue was a talk show host. His show, "The Phil Donahue Show" was in fact the grand-daddy of all talk shows. His show wasn't of the white trash, baby daddy, chair throwing, Nazi transvestite on crack variety. It was, frankly, quite classy, and Phil was never afraid to speak his mind.

Oprah and all of those other folks owe their success to him and should bow at his feet.

Well, anyway, I recently came across this.

Apparently, Phil, in support of Cindy Sheehan (anti-war activist and mother of Casey Sheehan, an American soldier who was killed in Iraq) was on the show of my mortal enemy, Bill O'Reilly's "O'Reilly Factor" and in my opinion, served the wattle-necked, hot air windbag his blotchy ass on a platter.

Have a look-see:

About Cindy Sheehan
There has been a lot written/said about Ms Sheehan since she started her vigil outside of the President's vacation ranch...some good, some bad and some downright despicable. Well one quote from a guy I respect sums up my feelings on this entire Cindy Sheehan saga:

"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win."

--- Mahatma Gandhi

So thank you FOX News, Limbaugh, MoveAmericaForward and all the rest of the rightwing smear machine because your actions (and overreactions) made sure that Cindy Sheehan's message got out, that the incompetent handling of the Iraq War became a front page story again and gave the anti-Iraq War movement in this country a swift kick in the ass and in the grand scheme of things that's all that really mattered.
