From April 7th:
Kansas Wins National Championship in Dramatic Fashion
The Kansas Jayhawks trailed the Memphis Tigers 60-51 with 2:12 left in the game. They had the Tigers right where they wanted them.
KU had taken a 33-28 lead into the locker room at halftime. However, some clutch shooting by freshman star Derrick Rose and Chris Douglas-Roberts gave Memphis the lead and momentum in the closing minutes of the game.
Robert Dozier hit two free throws with 2:12 left in the game to give Memphis a 9-point lead. That's when KU put on a display of basketball brilliance that will live on for years.
Darrell Arthur got the comeback started by knocking down a long two. KU immediately called a timeout with 1:54 remaining. Sherron Collins then got into the act. He started by stealing the inbounds pass after the timeout. He knocked down a clutch three-pointer just seconds later. The Memphis lead was cut to 60-56 with 1:46 still left on the clock.
Memphis pushed the lead back to 6 with two FT's. Mario Chalmers cut it back to 4 with two FT's of his own. Douglas-Roberts missed the front end of a one-and-one on the other end and Darrell Arthur came down and scored two more for KU. Arthur's bucket cut the Memphis lead to 62-60 with 1:01 left to play.
Then the pace picked up even more. Douglas-Roberts missed again setting up an opportunity to tie for KU. Sherron Collins got the rebound and raced down the court. He drove it all the way to the hoop before having the ball stolen.
Douglas-Roberts was fouled by Arthur with just :16 left on the clock. He went to the line for two. He missed the first one. He also missed the second one but Memphis caught a break as the ball was rebounded by Robert Dozier for the Tigers.
The ball wound up in the hands of Derrick Rose who was quickly fouled by Brandon rush with only :10 seconds left. Rose had a chance to put the game away for Memphis. He could have pushed the lead to 4 which would have all but ended KU's hope for a comeback. However, he missed the first FT.
Rose found his composure and knocked down the second FT giving Memphis a 63-60 lead with :10 seconds on the clock. KU had one last chance. They would need a three-pointer to at least send the game into overtime.
The Jayhawks inbounded the ball to the speedy Sherron Collins who took the ball across midcourt. He made it to about the three-point line before he began to stumble. He clumsily got the ball into the hands of Mario Chalmers. The junior guard from Alaska then proceeded to hit the biggest shot of his life. Chalmers hit a three-pointer from the top of the key while fading away with a man in his face.
Chalmers tied the game and sent it into overtime. KU had captured all of the momentum.
Memphis grabbed the tip to begin overtime but the ball was stolen away by Collins moments later. Brandon Rush scored off a Collins' assist to give KU a 65-63 lead. Memphis missed a shot on the other end and KU made them pay. Chalmers found Arthur cutting to the hoop for an alleyoop. The score was 67-63 in KU's favor. Memphis then missed yet again. KU came down and put the dagger in the heart of their opponent. Arthur found Darnell Jackson for a driving layup just as the shot clock was expiring to give the Jayhawks the last points they would need.
That made the score 69-63 with 2:38 left in OT. KU finished the game with poise and won it 75-68 to capture their first National Championship since 1988. It was the third NCAA Championship for the Jayhawks.
Mario Chalmers finished with 18 points, 4 steals, 3 assists and 3 rebounds. He was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player. Darrell Arthur led KU in scoring with 20. He also grabbed 10 boards. Brandon Rush added 12 points and 6 boards. Sherron Collins contributed 11 points, 6 assists and 3 steals off the bench.
Chalmers, Rush and Arthur were named to the Final Four All-Tournament Team. The team finished with 37 wins on the season which is a school record.
Congrats to Head Coach Bill Self and all of the players.

I'm out to Suncorp tonight to watch the Roar's last home game of the season. In the lead up to the start of the match the league ladder looks like this, with one round to play.
1 Central Coast Marriners Played: 20 Won: 9 Drawn: 4 Lost: 7 Goal Difference: +3 Points: 31
2 Newcastle Jets Played: 20 Won: 8 Drawn: 7 Lost: 5 Goal Difference: +3 Points: 31
3 Queensland Roar Played: 19 Won: 8 Drawn: 6 Lost: 5 Goal Difference: +6 Points: 30
4 Sydney FC Played: 19 Won: 8 Drawn: 6 Lost: 5 Goal Difference: +4 Points: 30
Out of the 8 teams, only those four matter, as they are the only teams contesting the finals, let alone the premiership.
A win and a draw in Queenslands final 2 rounds should see us claim the Premiership, as well as the double-chance a top 2 finsh gives. in the championship series. 2 wins will definatly seal it
At the moment we are 5.5 hours away from kick-off and I am absolutly PUMPED! It is going to be huge! Our most hated rivals, who knocked us out of the Championship last year by keeping us to a draw, the state that every Queenslander has been bought up to hate.
A settler in the pub pre-game is not going to be nearly enough, I'll need 4 or 5.
God, I can't wait.

Slept in till 1130 am, when I was woken by the phone next to my bed ringing. I didn't even bother to answer it. Hell, other people live in this house, and its probably for one of them. Like I said it was.
Upon getting up, I made my bed and then went and shaved. I am clean shaven now. Except for side burns, which I really don't consider facial hair. lol I Then returned to my room, where I got changed, and watched TV till 1230.
Then my father and myself went out and mowed the lawn. We where almost finished with it, when my mother started arguing with my father about the pill of twigs and stick that are behind our house. This resulted in everyone helping to drag and carry them out to the curb. Where they will mostly like be for a while. The town isn't exactly quick and picking stuff up. If they do it at all. So, I guess she got what she wanted.
After all that drama, I returned to my room , and got changed. Then turned TV back on and set up my TV line up for tonight. Right now I am watching Star Trek the next generation. With shows tonight such as batman, Reba, house, Criss angel Mindfreak, and the local news. Other then that, I took my replica wwe championship belt down off the wall, and polished every detail on it. It looks like a mirror now. Hehe. I love it! I keep looking up at is as I sit here at my PC. Its in the corner here, with me, on the wall.
So that's all I have planed for tonight. If anyone wants to do anything feel free to ask. Otherwise I'll slowly become more bored as the night goes on. Other then the TV shows I have planned, I may take a break to play PS2 if I want.
So, lets see. Hopefully everyone got arguing out of there system now, and will be nice to each other. I should wash my hair, and may, if I feel like it. Other then that, there's really nothing left on my mind that I haven't mentioned at the moment.
If I feel the need to vent I'll make another blog entry. Otherwise I'll just be like myself thinking depressing thoughts as usual. Contemplating the meaning of my life, you know that kind of thing. Like I do everyday. Ugh...
~ Peace
This morning as I haven't gone to bed. Its 430 am, when I have to take my mother to work. My father still isn't home from his night out yet. Which worries me. I decide to stay up after taking my mother to work. To see if and when he gets home. Around 5 I decide to lay down on the couch in our living room to rest a little. While laying there, it gets later and later. Finally I hear him come in at 10 minutes to 6 this morning. Good. I got up off the couch and went to my bed before he walked in the door.
So, I slept in my bed from then till 1058 when I decided to get up. Didn't feel like staying there I guess. So, I decided to take my championship belt, which I bought yesterday (read the blog) down off the wall and polish any finger prints off it. Which I did, and put it right back on the wall. If it had any finger prints, it super shiny now.
After that, I am doing this. I turned on my PC and am writing today's blog. Cause there's no one online to talk to yet. I guess they are still snoozing in there beds, or have better things to do. Me .... I have nothing better to do. Haven't even got dressed yet.
The only plans for today , is I have to go pick my mother up from her job at 1 PM. Unless a metrical happens and my father does it, but I don't see that happening. Dinner will be sometime after she gets home. Other then that, there's nothing going on today. Even NASCAR nextel cup has the weekend off.
I dunno what I am gonna do with myself the rest of the day. There's really nothing left to do. There's even nothing that I want, that I know of anywhere. So, anyone have any suggestions, as what to watch on TV, do in buffalo NY , or do on here ?
What's on my mind? I am just happy the drunk came home and is alright. I am happy I finally got the belt I wanted. Even though I think it cost to much money. It's only money, and you only live once, right ? Now I just have to figure out if there's anything to do. If not I fear I will be bored out of my mind all day long. Ugh ...
Alright, well, I guess that's all for today's blog entry. If I do anything blog worthy, or anything happens, maybe I'll post a second blog today.
