Casino Royale @ MindSay

is the sex.  Not just any sex but THE sex.  What a beautiful man.

 

As you can telll, I've seen the movie Casino Royale.  Twice.  In the past week. 

 

Daniel is by far the best Bond I've seen.  And I'm in love. :)

So I finally got to see Casion Royale.  Left from work and went with one of my co-workers because, dammit, I wanted to see a movie and I hate doing stuff alone.  Thankfully he wanted to see it anyway and didn't have anything else to do so it didn't take much to talk him into it.

Amazing.  I don't know if it was the best Bond flick I've ever seen but it sure as hell ranks up there.  Very clear developement of how Bond became Bond and Daniel Greg did an amazing job as Bond.  I really enjoyed it.  It was a surprisingly long movie but I didn't notice.  Just remember going in, then coming out and blinking at my watch... thing was about two and a half hours long.  Anyway, go see, it's a great flick.  Now I'm off to wash my drysuit.

I had a great Thanksgiving!  It was held at my mom's best friend's house because my mom couldn't do it this year.  She just had orthoscopic surgery and was unable to stand for hours at a time trying to prepare a meal.  My mom's best friend's daughter is my oldest friend. We've known each other as long as we've been alive! There are pictures of use sitting next to each other in our babyseats. :) Anyway, I spent a nice calm Thanksgiving with the husband, my kiddo, my mother, my mother's best friend, my oldest friend,  her husband and their 8 month-old baby boy, my oldest friend's brother and his wife.  My sister went to Maine to visit her boyfriend's family and my father and brother went to Bastrop, TX to visit my Big Mama.

 

After we stuffed ourselves with really good food, the Dallas Cowboys made our day and won baby!!!! Later, my oldest friend and her husband went with my husband and me to see Casino Royale. Wow, what a great movie! Daniel Craig is a fantastic James Bond.  He ain't yo mama's James Bond. This Bond is quite ruthless. Daniel Craig has those cold, steel blue eyes you just wanna warm up. *sigh*

 

 

But, I digress... :P

My friend and her husband were so glad to be able to get out and go to a movie.  Like most new parents, it had been ages since they've been able to go to the movies and they felt woefully out of the loop.

 

Today my friend and her husband are out doing battle in the stores in honor of the dreaded Black Friday. I HATE BLACK FRIDAY!! Believe it or not, I really hate shopping. My mom and her best friend are power shoppers. They literally spend the entire day shopping.  As a kid when my mom and her best friend dragged us along, I held back tears while my oldest friend learned the concepts of charge cards, and how to figure out a 20% discount.  I especially hate shopping when its crowded. People become rude and act like animals. Since I'm an alpha bitch (at least I am according to the husband) I tend to assert my dominance when people get testy.  Since I don't want to go to jail or get sued, I tend to shop for my Christmas gifts online, via catalog, on rainy days or even late at night. Don't worry I drag the husband with me when I do this. I just wanna avoid things like this:

Well, I saw Casino Royale last night. I must say I never really liked the James Bond movies. Then again the only 007 movies I’ve seen are the crappy Pierce Brosnan ones. I’ve been meaning to watch more of them, but I just never have.

 

Anyways, I really enjoyed Casino Royale. I’m a sucker for anything in black and what that has been made recently, which means the first about 10 minutes I was absolutely in love with. It was all black and white and beautifully grainy. It set a very nice tone for the film by having a high contrast with a very bright scene inter-cutting into a very dark scene. A lot of the film is contrasted, mostly using the characters eyes.

 

Some were worried about getting a new Bond. I say its a breathe of much needed fresh air. Brosnan’s last movies were getting worse and worse.  Daniel Craig’s first outing as Bond is great. Despite not having the dark hair and eyes of most of his predecessors, he fits the role like he’s been playing it his whole life.

 

Going into the movie I was a bit worried it was going to be a couple hours of people playing poker with some tense music. I was happy to find that the pacing of the movie was great. The exposition was nicely written and interesting. The action scenes were as tense and well done as you would expect from a Bond film.

 

Overall, Casino Royale is a film I can recommend to fans of Bond and fans of movies in general.

I lost my James Bond virginity on Saturday with From Russia with Love.  I meant to blog before now.  Now I need to see the sequel: Goldfinger.  Then yummy Daniel Craig in Casino Royale.  I saw the original, well it was actually a spoof - with Woody Allen.  I'm told that doesn't exactly count as a James Bond movie.  That's ok. From Russia with Love will always have a special place in my heart.
