Carnival Of Injustice @ MindSay
I am so sick of the injustice in my house. I cannot wait to get out! Only a few more months then I am finally on my own =]
Welcome to the November 23, 2007 edition of carnival of injustice. Today I have articles that will prickle the hair on your neck. Number one, being that the military is trying to make wounded soldiers pay back part of their enlistment bonus. Why? Because they cannot serve out their full term in the military. Can you believe that? If not, go read and see if you can believe it.
Alfa King presents Labor and industrial relations reforms to be reconsidered posted at Alfa King Memories. When women can't even take maternity leave, something MUST be done!
Rachel presents A special PSA on domestic abuse. posted at Confessions of a Fashionista, saying, "This is an article I wrote on the reality of domestic abuse. Encouraging those who are experiencing it to speak out and stand up. A friend of mine is going through it, but she's making the motions to leave." I know people who have gone through or are going through this right now. I was also a victim of it myself in past relationships. It's not pretty. We all should educate ourselves as to the reality of this travesty and educate others on how to get out.

Madeleine Begun Kane presents First Pakistan And Then? posted at Mad Kane's Political Madness. It's an eye opener about the nuclear arms race. This is stuff we need to know, but probably don't.
Marcella Chester presents Support International Violence Against Women Act posted at abyss2hope: A rape survivor's zigzag journey into the open, saying, "Too often a lack of response to certain acts of violence is overlooked as a form of injustice because nobody is released from a government-run prison when the injustice has been righted." When you have to yell "fire" and not "rape" in order to get people's attention, it's a sad state for all people. Let's join in the movement to end violence against women.
Ian Welsh presents Making Bankruptcy Harder Comes Back To Bite Banks In the Butt posted at The Agonist, saying, "Chuck Prince III, the head of Citigroup, lost his job over this. Of course, he's still worth hundreds of millions, I'm sure, so you needn't cry any tears for him. While Prince won't pay any price worth mentioning, the families who are losing their houses because of the banks' greedy decision to revise the bankruptcy act certainly will." I know a few people dealing with this right now.
Ian also encourages us to take a look at The 10 Minute Immigration Debate. He says that "The US has an immigration problem because large numbers of people, primarily subsistence farmers, have lost their livelihood. If the US wants to reduce it illegal immigration, step one is to fix its own trade, agricultural and development policies." I think that his idea would help to an extent, but what do you think?

Hell's Handmaiden presents The War on Indecency | hell's handmaiden posted at Hell's Handmaiden. This one is not kid safe, due to the pictures. You have to admit, though, that he has a point. I don't want my child being exposed to the exposure of others, but who are we to tell them what they can wear? There is a thin line being crossed in either direction. Read and decide for yourself.
Peggy presents It's not your fault that MEC wants to turn off your power. posted at Keep the Lights On Bullhead Blog, saying, "We're suffering from class discrimination in our Arizona city!". In my state, they aren't allowed to cut your power or gas if you are within the months of November to March and are able to qualify for the hardship payment plan. In other words, you pay when you can and your power is not to be cut between those months. I hope that something is done about what they are trying to pull in AZ.
