Card @ MindSay
originally, i was going to apply to 10, maybe 15 schools. much less than the average (which i think is around 20). i ended up applying to 20. $730!! ah well, such is the sacrifice we make for our dreams, eh? actually my dad ended up paying for most of it. he does have a lot more money than i do...
at some point i'll find out which schools liked my primary application enough to send me a secondary application. hopefully that will be soon. first, the application service has to verify all my information, grades, test scores, etc. then i get to request my committee letter/recommendation letters. those get sent to the application service and then the entire application is sent to my schools. who send me another application. fingers crossed.
i don't know if that process made sense the way i said it.
anyways, to celebrate, i'm going spend money at the apple store (.com). my dad gave me a $500 apple gift card (yeeha!) for my birthday. it's from grant money, so it's less of a deal than it he'd paid for it out of pocket. i went to the apple store, but there wasn't anything these that i needed or wanted. i thought about getting an iphone, but i'm sure those will get even cheaper in the future and i already have a cell phone. on verizon ;) i was also thinking about a camera, but i have one of those also. not as good as some in the store, but i'm not much of a photographer, so it's not a big deal. i wanted speakers, but the ones in the store were ugly. or for ipods. which i don't have. so to the online store i went. here's what i've found so far:
coolio messenger bag/backpack hybrid that's supposed to be pretty comfortable
pretty speakers, small but works well for its size (i don't need huge ones anyway)
microphone, because the one in my macbook stinks and this one's pretty :)
i haven't made these my final purchases yet, i'll look around for a bit longer.

Its time to end the whole artificial race flap between Hillary and Obama.
I listened to big fat Rush today and he is all over it. All we are doing is
helping the Republicans. Lets get back to the real issues!
LMAO Call me a bad parent I don't care. Randy and I introduced our kids into the finer playing aspects of card play according to our families yesterday!
See Randy and I both grew up in families that back in the days (60s-late 80s) would get together on the weekends and drink and play cards. It was a way for the families to see each other, get the cousins together, and for the adults to go out but not have to "drive". Trash talk in the games can get vicsious! If you haven't ever seen your mom slam down a card and say Booya Bitch! Your missing something funny!
Our two kids have been showing a great interest in learning how to play Spades, Hearts, Poker, and other card games, so Randy and I busted out the Uno Attack game and realized real fast that the kids weren't quite ready for that fast of a pace Uno game. So we had DeLaney go get the straight Uno cards and we played Uno for about an hour yesterday afternoon on the living room floor. About 15 minutes into the game, our kides realized that Mommy and Daddy play for blood in everything we do! Coltin picked up the straragey of play to win with us really fast and poor DeLaney was sitting off to my right and randy's left going "YOU ALL SUCK! Skipping me, Reverseing me, Making me draw two or four! I am going to tell Grandma on you guys for being mean!"
Coltin looked up from his cards and said: "It's Uno You Bitch! Uno! Play the game or shut up!"
Randy and I were laughin so hard at what he said and DeLaney's shocked look on her face at what her brother shouted at her that she finally got it through her blonde little head to either play the game to win or get use to being left with a loosing hand all the time! Randy and I did tell Coltin to clean up his trash talk or he couldn't play but we couldn't help but laugh that he got enough of both family genes to start trash talking yesterday afternoon!
DeLaney did tattle on us to my mom and my mom told her that she needed to play to win or get use to the fact of various ppl trash talking to her. And if she couldn't handle the trash talk don't bother playing Gin Rummy with Grandpa cause Grandpa has a vicsious streak with Gin Rummy.
I took over the phone and told my mom what Coltin said to DeLaney and my mom goes that's my boy! Learning to trash talk at playing cards young! How is he with Spades and Poker! Your dad is a sorry Spades partner! Maybe I will take my grandson with me to the next get together with my brothers and have a decent partner!
We will probably play Life today. DeLaney can clean up on that board game. I can't wait for the Holiday gift unwrapping to get here! We got the kids dominoes, Clue, and Junga. And my sister got the kids Monopoloy and another board game! When I can get Randy to shut his big pie hole he is actually quite fun.
Our night with all our friends we really enjoyed ourselves! We played TX Hold Em and Spades. Andre, Arjan's brother, found out real fast that Sebrina, Nola, and I played spades and poker in highschool to kill time and Arjan and Randy played spades and poker when they were in the military to kill time. Andre got his ass handed to him in TX Hold Em. And Bree and I had to hold back Nola from jumping across the table to kill Andre on spades. We played couple partners and Andre kept renigging and over bidding or under bidding in spades and pissing Nola off!
My mom and dad are talking to my mom's brothers about inviting those of us cousins living in the area to their every 3 month get together of card playing, camping, going out to movies, and parties to keep the family tradation of card playing alive! So far my Uncle Gene (our landlord), who has all three of his kids in the area is all for it, my Uncle Mike is okay with it as long as it isn't held at one of the houses with cats. So my house is out of the question. My uncle Mike HATES cats. My cousin Tammy and I are excited cause we can't wait to teach our kids the finer points of Spade and Heart Beating and how to trash talk their grandparents!
