The "statist" accusation
The "statist" accusation

Don't be surprised if you receive some ad-hominem abuse from libertarian evangelists when you don't accept their arguments. It's no different than if a communist called you bourgeois or a Bircher called you a commie lover. Sometimes they'll go overboard and even accuse you of mental disease, at which time you can point out to them the fine company they keep: Stalin, Hitler, etc.

Nader is wrong about Socialism on Wall Street
Socialism is a system in which the workers own the firms they work for. Capitalist representatives forcing taxpayers to bail out Wall Street without transferring those assets permanently to working people is not socialism. It's capitalism.

Where's the uproar from the Right?
Conservatives and "Freedom Lovers" always say we should act on principal, not emotion. Emotionalism is for those "liberal bed-wetters" pandering to "welfare queens."

I don't see any in uproar over this 700 BILLION dollar bailout to help out the people who NEVER had America's interests.

So, who's acting on principal, and who's acting on emotionalism?

Socialized Capitalism
Why aren't you capitalists outraged over this?

The Fed stepping in to help out these corporations and financial firms is despicable. They should just let those bastards fall through. And why aren't the uber capitalists in uproar over this? Many would say that capitalism and democracy instructs to let them fall. Well, IMO, I would love to see the bottom fall out from this rotting country.

Apparently we have enough tax-payer dollars to help corporations who exploit the poor but can't spend a dime to help struggling men and women have a better quality of life.

The Reality of Communism (TL;DR)
From Freedom and Reason

TL;DR:

The Soviet Union was not a communist society. The deformities of the Soviet Union were for the most part the consequences of Western capitalist action against the Russian revolutionaries.

Communism as a social system has never existed in the modern period, communism as a social system cannot possibly be responsible for the death of a single person. One can never claim that communism doesn't work because (a) it worked for most of human history and (b) it has never been tested in the modern era.

Communism is the moral philosophy that holds that, since most production is inherently social, members of society should benefit, on the basis of need, from the fruits of social activity, and, furthermore, that all members should contribute to that activity on the basis of their abilities. Communism is the ethical value that every person should have a say so in the decisions that affect her life. It is unremarkable, albeit not popularly known, that this form of social existence is the original form of societal ordering. Most of human history has been spent in communities based on communism (there's a reason why the words are so similar). Economically-stratified societies are a historically recent occurrence and its advocates have tragically managed to obliterate almost everywhere the way human beings lived for most of history and prehistory.
