So Kevin Rudd turns out as big a pussy as the rest of them. I'm so very disappointed in you Kev. It saddens me that politicians are so swayed by the apparent voting power of the "Religious Right" and "Big Business".

 

My city (which is also a state) Canberra - the Australian Capital Territory - recently put forward a submission to local government to legislate gay marriages in the form of a civil union.

 

 Completely forgetting the fact that marriage isn't always a religious ceremony but that it can in fact, also be a civil one, the old people said that was "against god, because marriage is between a man and a woman"

 

 Who the hell mentioned god??

 

 Of course we were all very opptimistic that we might be a forward-thinking, progressive bunch of aussies but . . . nnno. Kevin Rudd bowed his head before us and bared his bottom to the religious zealots in preparation for his buggering. Apparently we the states, have no power to formulate our own laws except under the supervision of the federal gumbyment. So Much for our supposed 'democracy'.

 

 John Stanhope, I applaude you for your efforts and your fearless pursuit of justice for all, you're a man I respect.

 

Kevin Rudd, you big fat pussy. I'd still rather have you as PM because you've done some pretty good things up to now but I've lost a lot of respect for you.

 

It's sad that religious interests have so much influence on what should (and is supposed to) be an secular form of government. Sadly, government does not represent the will of all the people, it represents the will of the powerful lobbies, those who have guns, those who sell oil and those who worship gods. Hence we are in an unjust war, still using expensive oil products and unable to say to the world that we are proud to be officially joined with our gay partners.

im also really jelous of adelaide for their absoltly awesome raving scene.. i was looking thru the pics on itm.. and seriously.. i want to move there.. its common for them to have famous DJs such as neophyte and promo to come there. .and alse the raverbaby crew.. which i fuckn worship.
still... why dont these people ever come to canberra? seriously.. they would have such a big turnout its not funny.. i mean PVD came to canberra.. and that was absolutly massive, even tho hes not very wat u call "mainstream"...massive turnout.
and serious.. what is the point of making these gigs 18+? i mean its been proven that it is possible to pull off a successfull all ages thing.. you simply id everyone that comes to the bar. ...so why not do hat for events such as that? i mean look at the raving scene in canberra.. sure we just lost the venue coz gecko is getting a face lift and that shit, but look at it.. if there wasnt a bouncer on the door.. seriously, business would have gone so much better...for fucks sake.. the majority of ravers atm are aged between 14-18...
i mean ok.. i can understand that the bouncer is there to stop fights and shit aswell.. but really.. why cant they just make these events underage? really doesnt take much effort.. .bar tenders should b iding everyone neway..so wats so hard about that.
GRRR.. neways.. i think i may move to adelaide at some stage of my life.. one because jess lives there..and i miss her greatly.. but 2 for the raving scene.. sure its not as big as sydney, but you have to admit that sydney is not a safe place to live.. with gangs and murders and bashings and shit all the time.. im comparing it to canberra.. its not safe to live in and many people leave coz of that.

Today is good, yet perhaps not so.

A good thing about today was Australia finally wrapped up the two dead rubbers of the Davis Cup tie between Belarus. Translation: we won 5 - 0 ;) A satisfyingly satisfactory result, meaning we either face Croatia here or Argentina over there. One or the other. On home soil would be nice. I might even pop down to Kooyong (in Melbourne) to check it out... if we end up facing Croatia in the semis that is :)

 

Another good thing; INXS are finally doing their much-awaited Australian Tour. Annnnnnnddddd, they're coming to Canberra!! Of all places :D But it rocks, cause it means I'll get a chance to go and see them. And it's in early September so it'll be mid-semester break, which also rocks cause it ups my chances of my parents agreeing to let me go.

 

Which gets me onto the not so good side of today. My parents. Arghhh, they suck. The end. Too difficult to explain, but they do.

 

And I'm tired. Cause I worked today so now I shall sleep. Sleep in till very late in the afternoon. And try rush a Chem prac that's due on Tues.
