Took the car into the shop this morning to get the caliper fixed. The guy who did it is very knowledgable about BMW's. He is also a good mechanic. The car runs much better now but there are some things he noticed that are going bad. The water pump mainly and that scares me. The tires are almost gone but I new that. The right rear shock is leaking so when I get the tires replaced I will have that fixed at the same time.
After over $500.00 it better run better. But when I got home and was placing the bill with the other car stuff I noticed he over charged me for the labor. At an $80.00/hour rate, the luster was off of the work a little. Since I have been calling everyone else out lately who have been f****** with me, I still had a little left in me to call him out about it.
I know how mechanics work. The get the parts at a wholesale rate, bump the prices up some and then pass it on to the needy. I get that. So when I catch them overcharging me on something else, well, I get "involved". When we talked he assured me he was not out to gouge me. Maybe I am being naive about this but I believed him. I know everyone needs to make money and I do not mind paying a fair price for a good job and he did do a good one on my car. He did say that when I come in to get the water pump replaced he would cut the rate some.
That was all I needed to hear.
