Sunday - A Day For Geocaching - Finally!
Yes .... yesterday was a good day.  Sunshine and a touch of warmth to the sun.  A very cool breeze now and then but not enough to detour me from logging in a few caches.  With the price of gas anymore I decided to make it a quick round trip over to the outskirts of Yreka and back instead of going to far down the road.

The first cache was called "The First Log House" ..... apparently the first log house in Yreka ..... just one problem .... which you will see .... the logs are long gone .... so it seems truly bizarre ..... but then again I have to "remember where I live".

Not a log one ..... lol

Your truly and the cache.

The "Klamath River View 2" cache.  Alas ..... no view of the river.  It was one of those days .... lol  The river was across the way .... and if I stood on my tip toes I could almost see it down below ....

Ok, cllecr  remember this one?  "NSA Rebellion" the cache we couldn't find at the ambulance company?  Well, they moved it from those coordinates, apparently we were not the only ones having issues and now it is in the hedges you see off to the right of the picture.  Dave took a photo of me getting the cache but it was so bright I could not edit it to any kind of normalcy.  That is one of the EMT's that works there in the photo.

The "Paradise Crags View" cache .... never found the Crags .... but I will take the word of the cache owner they are viewable from here.  This was a big open field with on lonely pine tree in the middle of it ..... and the cache was in the tree.  Apartment buildings look right out over this field ..... something tells me this cache will be short lived.  The look on my face is "what Crags?"

Once again, cllecr  the "Historical Yreka" cache.  Remember the cache on the walkway behind the museum we spend quite a while looking for then when I got home I looked and it had been disabled?  Well it was replaced and yesterday was the day .... finally .... a small fake rock hide a key at the base of this tree.  Great hide. And still took me forever to find .... damn!

Me with the cache (rock hide a key) .... a nice little creek running through what probably at one time a nice walk through a pretty park.  Not anymore.  Overrun with graffiti and garbage.  A very sad statement .... the big cities moving into small town California.  Sucks.

The last cache of the day.  "The Road To Alturas Indian Rancheria".  The local Indian tribe has been fighting forever to have a casino in Yreka.  The people of Yreka have been fighting forever to keep the casino from coming to Yreka.  The local Indian tribe said "Fuck You" and started building a casino on their land anyway.  Yreka contacted the Governator .... Arnold .... who put a stop to the building.  The road to the casino is now gated and locked with Government padlocks and the building has been stopped.  The hull of a casino can be seen from the freeway through the trees.  Who knows what will happen to it.  I think they should have their casino .... geez .... and once again I need to "remember where I live".  Republican hell.

And that was my Sunday.  This morning I picked up the lady I drive and spent a few hours with her in Etna running errands.  Came home posted this and just realized I have not eaten yet today .... I was late this morning .... I almost totally forgot her.  So I'm hungry and a grapefruit sounds most inviting.

So hope everyone's Monday is going well .... chilly today .... burrrr!  That hint of warm was a brutal tease last week .... brutal!

Peace.  J.

Just Another Thursday
Once again my day was lost to other things than what I should be doing.

Off to Yreka this morning .... insurance stuff due again ....  and of course I have procrastinated till the very last second ..... thank god for leap year and that extra day.

Then this afternoon I headed over to the Senior Center to meet with the current Bingo committee.  Yes, I do lead an exciting life.

One thing I did make clear ..... I'm not there to get yelled at ..... so, if they feel the need to bitch about stupid stupid shit like the last time ..... I have no reason to VOLUNTEER my services.  I'm 50 ..... not dead ..... and I don't live for Bingo.  I volunteer solely because of my mom ..... she loves her Bingo and would be bummed if there were not enough people available to make sure it continues on.  I also told the committee chairman lady that if the old "crew" don't like what we are doing or how we are doing it ..... they need to back off.  They walked out on the job and were ready to let it go ..... so SHUT UP!  This benefits them as well.

And of course one of the ladies that showed up today was one I about pushed away from me last Monday ..... she was up in my face ..... and I don't freaking care how old you are .....  trust me, if you are in my face you are going to get pushed away.  Or punched out.  One of the two.  So back off.

Another beautiful day ..... sunny ..... and warmer ..... 55 degrees today.  Our artichokes are showing some signs of life as well as the rhubarb.  And the onions have shown some life as well.  Its amazing what a little sunshine can do.  Seriously ..... spring / summer can not get here soon enough to suit me.  As I have said many times before.

So tomorrow I need to get up  early and force myself to get moving.  Thinking a little geocaching this weekend ..... ***fingers crossed***

And speaking of geocaching ..... the cache I hid last week ..... private property.  One of my finders got his ass chewed apparently .... and the owner of the property "not amused".  Well, there are no signs .... none, no "Private Property", no "No Trespassing", no fencing .... nothing ..... but the cacher that the owner found assured him I would remove the cache.  He (the cacher) then contacted me.  We had snow and rain for a couple days after that ..... I got over there on Monday ..... the cache was gone.  So today I go back knock on the door of the closest house which was about 1/3 mile down the road .... opposite side of the road from where the cache was.  It was a very quick visit as he told me without hesitation he had thrown it away.  And I realized there was no reason to rant ..... it would only make things worse.  The bad part is the coin someone had dropped into the cache.  I guess I need to offer to replace it.  I apologized for my mistake but feel that it was met on deaf ears.  He said something about vandals .... but yet again, no signs at all .... no fencing ..... and close to the forest service boundary .... its like he is inviting vandals .... and most geocachers are not vandals .... most are very respectful folk.  Done ranting.

I hope everyone's Thursday was grand.  And enjoy what is left of your evening.

Tomorrow is another day .... yay ....

Peace.  J.

A Day To Myself
A day to myself.

Mom went off to a senior driving course .... which is a good thing since she backed into a pickup the other day and put a sizable dent in the bumper of our car.  Then drove off.  Yep, drove off.

Dave went to see if he could find any firewood that wasn't buried in snow in the woods somewhere, picking up a buddy on the way to help.

Me, I found a cache and hid a cache.  Doesn't sound like much, but for two hours I was by myself ... doing what I wanted to do ... and I enjoyed every second.

I also did some errands but didn't mind since the payoff was caching.  If the weather had been a bit drier ..... I probably would have hung over there a bit longer, but with rain and wind .... the one find was enough.  I off loaded the geocoins and travel bugs I had grabbed at the Mt. Shasta event and then off to hide the ready to go cache I won at the same event.

When first moving here I heard rumors of a statue in a strange place that no one really know why it is there or who put it there.  One day Dave and I took off to find the statue in the woods and sure enough .... its there.  Nothing around it .... just the statue .... which is of a man in long robes, looking like from the Jesus era, who has his hand on a small child .... standing in front of him .... the child has no face.  Anyway .... I remembered this spot the other day and found it to be a very cool place for a cache.  Maybe I can now find out the story behind the statue.

A low fat sugar free vanilla latte for the way home and I was in heaven.  Left over turkey penne pasta, salad and bread for dinner .... done already.  The rest of the night is mine .... sort of .... ok, not even ..... was a nice thought though.

Hoping everyone has an enjoyable Wednesday tomorrow .....

Peace.  J.

Mt. Shasta Geocaching Event
Yesterday turned out to be a very fun day.  It was Dave's birthday as well and it was good to get out and celebrate.

With every intention of arriving early we got to the geocaching event about 15 minutes late.  There were a whole lot of folks there.  Some I had met before, others I had not .... but you get used to seeing most of the names when they log your personal caches.

Good food, yummy salad bar ..... good beer and lots of good people.  They raffled off about 8 caches ready to hide and I was the lucky recipient of one of them.  So now I have two caches ready to hide.  Snow needs to go the heck away ..... soon.  lol

After the event we found a couple caches .... one right at the center the event was held out that had been hidden that day by the event givers.  The other not too far away .... most of the others I had marked to find were not too accessible in the shoes I chose to wear yesterday .... Sorels were a must.

An amazing beautiful sunshiny warmish day.  And as always Mt. Shasta caught my attention .... she stood tall and white against the blue blue sky.  We took our time driving home .... enjoyed what was left of the day ....

Driving into the fog on the way out of town.  It was all gone about a mile down the road .... yay!

Yep, Mt. Shasta ....

once again .....

Most of my pictures didn't come out of course, beer was involved .... but this was some of the group.

Me and my ready to go cache raffle prize.

Searching for the "Extra!, Extra!" cache.

Me and the cache.

Me signing log at "Tree House" cache.  You can't tell by the photo but I had to crawl over a five foot wall of snow in my open back clogs to log this.  My feet were cold and wet.

Destiny the Dragonfly left on her journey yesterday.  Wish her well in her travels please ..... this was a hard one to let go of.

Mom wants to take Dave out to dinner tonight so I guess we will be off to Yreka for some chow.

I did manage to exercise today ..... music choice .... Tom Petty .... the "Wildflowers" CD.  62 minutes of rocking exercise.  My butt muscles have been hurting lately ..... ouch .... no pain no gain, right ?   And I wore my size 10 jeans yesterday for the first time in months ..... Smiley  It was nice.

Well, I have some reading to do to get caught up .... replies to respond to yet, and a whole lot of geocoins and travel bugs to log as discoveries.  I don't think I had ever seen so many in one place before.  I took five myself to set out on new journeys.

Hoping everyone's weekend was wonderful.

Peace.  J.
