Child Left On A School Bus For Hours!

Credited to wisn.com

A 4-year-old Milwaukee boy was at home with his mother Tuesday night after spending hours alone on a cold school bus.

"It could have been more tragic. A lot worse could have happened out of this," the boy's mother, Brenda Rachal, said.

Tuesday morning, Cantrell and another little boy rode the bus from day care to the 68th Street School. When the bus pulled up, one boy got out, but Cantrell stayed on.

Four hours later, Rachal got a call that Cantrell never made it to school. School officials said they thought the boy was absent.

"What do you mean he didn't get off the bus?" Rachal said she remembers asking.

Rachal said she was afraid her son had been kidnapped, but school officials said Cantrell was found later, still on the bus, which was parked right in front of the bus driver's home.

A manager from the Laidlaw Bus Company said he was found standing on a seat crying. Their bus driver was immediately fired and arrested by police. She could face child neglect charges.

Rachal said there's no excuse for what happened.

"It only takes a few seconds to check a bus, and this bus was small. (It) had like five rows of seats," Rachal said.

"There's no telling what was going through his mind. He was said he was looking out the bus to see if he could see his friend, you know, any familiar face," Rachal said. Cantrell told his mom that he cried on the bus and didn't sleep.

Cantrell was examined at Children's Hospital and is doing well, but Rachael said it could have been serious. She said her son has a condition where his blood sugar can dip very low if he doesn't eat or drink regularly.

Police and child protective services are investigating the case.

My son used to ride with that same company last year and on the short buses as well. They switched bus companys this year...although I don't know exactly why.

But anyways, What hell? She could face child neglect charges? She should face child neglect charges! I agree. There is no excuse for that at all. Besides, it was one of the small buses. How the hell do you overlook a 4 year old child on a small bus, let alone any size bus? Common sense would tell you, that you need to always make sure there is no exsisting persons on a bus. How do you overlook something like that?

Chapter 15... The adventures of Cheeko, the much forced loved cat.

Cheeko the Cheeky Cat!!

I met first met Cheeko when I went to visit Eagle after he had nagged and nagged for me to stop by. Sick of being asked, and seeing he hadn't showed his nutcase self I got into my car and drove over. I arrived at the house and wandered up the pathway, Eagle came towards me, arms opened ready to embrace me in a hug. Behind him I saw a little ball of fur hiding in the garden. After a quick 'friends' hug I advanced forth towards the ball of fur, off it scurried away from me..

"DINNER!" I exclaimed in utter amusement and chased after it.

To which came the response from one of the boys, "Can I marry you?"

Over the next couple of weeks I bonded with Selena's little ball of fur and sadly watched it getting thrown around, tossed about like a rag doll by the boys. When he was hurt Selena's brother paid for him to be taken to the vet and on return with a broken leg we nursed him back to health. As our friendship grew stronger and closer and our stupidity of doing random things blossomed.. so did our protection of one another, mostly against Eagle.

The randomity of everything eventually led to Selena moving away.. Which though it was sad, awas the best that could be done for her.. Lucky for she escaped Eagle.

After a period of time I came to be at her old house for dinner with my a friend who had come to adopt me as his little sister and the boy I was told I was seeing.. It is funny how if you hang out with someone for a while and do things with just the two of you you become 'exclusive'.

As I sat in the loungeroom, Eagle came in annoucing the cat was going to a girl I didn't know who just so happened to be Selena's enemy and a cat hater! I called Selena and arranged for Cheeko to come with me. Which alas turned out to be the biggest mistake as I was sick with one working lung and allergic to cats.

After a dreadful time of the cat living with me and me almost dying a friend, who which was the one I was meant to be exclusive with took Cheeko to his house to cat-sit. This cat was protected from animal haters and with much effort looked after... Each of us doing out part.

So the time came when Selena's brother was to bus it to the city and give her little friend back.  When he was handed back, once again his leg was hurt. None of us have bothered to ask how.

So there was Selena's brother had Cheeko hidden in his bag and stood at the bus stop, the bus arrived and the man looked him up and down.

"You'll have to put that bag underneath," the bus driver said, nodding towards the bag in which Cheeko hid..

"Can't I take it on with me, " Selena's brother, Raoul argued.

The bus driver shook his head and the bag was placed under the bus, Raoul paced back and forth watching the bag, with the other bus riders staring at him, convinced he was a mad man.

Pacing back and forth he fidgetted, would Cheeko be alright?

Then suddenly the bag went SMACK to the left and SMACK to the right.. As Cheeko fought about inside. The bag bounced around and the bus driver looked at Raoul.

"Is it a cat or a dog?" he asked with a straight face.

"A cat," Raoul replied hopefully.

"If it was a dog I'd let ya take it but not a cat."

Though we doubt this is true, Raoul took the cat from the bag looked at in disgust and tossed it on the ground, boarding the bus.

So there Cheeko was left, on the side of the road. Alone and soon to be forgotten.

After all our effort, he is gone, no where to be found.

Now That That's Over
So, there's this spot on Highway 101, one of only two ways, and probably the safest and fastest of the two and the only one that Greyhound does, that has mudslides every year. well, last night was the fourth time this year that they've had to shut down that part of 101 to clean up the mess. and last night, i needed to go through that to get to Arcata. so instead, our bus was turned back around to Ukiah, which is like four hours south, and i spent the night at some restaurant/truck stop. on the plus side, i met some really cool people and didn't go to bed until 4:31am, but bed was on the bus and i slept for about an hour, then our new driver showed up, then i slept until 6:36am, and i've pretty much been awake ever since. i took a couple little naps yesterday and today on the bus, but it's obvious i haven't gotten much sleep. really now the only thing i want to do is shower and get really stoned. it sux, though, cuz my phone won't charge AT ALL which means i have to wait for the new one for up to five days, meaning i may not have a phone for the rest of the break. damn that would piss me off. this spring break really fucking sux. at least my hermit crabs all appear to be alive and that was a hell of an experience. i still missed Jimmy and Reanna and I hope that they're safe on the way back up here. that's basically the update. i just really wish that my phone would fucking charge. this sux like you don't even know Smiley

Makes me ashamed to say I grew up in Indiana
I was watching the news tonight and saw a bus driver had slapped a kid and then told him to shut up. He was suspended with pay. That is a crock. He should be fired. A lot of parents trust bus drivers to keep their kids safe not abuse them. Here is an article I found online about what happened.

(no subject)
looking at the yellow school bus in front of me, the numbers of the bus in bold black. i was always stressed out looking for that stupid number. it could have been at the back of the line or not there yet, or worst, at the very front ready to depart for home. that Tim, he'd always be too anxious to go get ice cream or a burger or something, he didn't care if all his riders got home or not.

the orange cones in the parkling lot, and the car circling round again and again trying to wedge it's way between those cones. I'm so glad I am a licensed driver. and the practice....well it got me my license. and I'm not there anymore.

my car was my ticket to freedom. I could escape the craziness with it, eat, sleep, whatever... you name it. I had my car and I could live in it if I had to.....I had already been prepared to. now as I look forward to a new car, I remember when i got this car. I was in a very different place. taking classes, and spinning my hamster wheel, trying so hard to go somewhere, but not knowing where the hell to? I'm glad I am not there anymore.

what a crazy journey it has been, and this is who I am now. of course the journey's not done. but the bleakest darkest hours seem so long ago. there was a turning point. but I always need a reminder when I get insecure again. there's no answer. there's no key. it's just another step completed and mastered.
