Halo 3: September 25th!!!!
If you didn't know, now you know. Halo 3 is coming out on September 25th. Here's the link to the site:

http://www.halo3.com/

If you want to watch the Halo 3 video for Halo 3, I recommend watch it with headphones, or surround sound (plus I did, and I wasn't disapointed). The sound is just perfect....Story-wise, I just want to know what is going to happen.

BTW, how does "nazi" come from talking about Halo? This is one of the suggested tags, so WTF?

So the Troops Got Something Good For Christmas!
On GameFaqs, not too long ago, a Iraqi soldier said that Bungie gave the troops in Iraq a test run for Halo 3. People thought he was bullshiting, so they flamed him. Today, I just found out he wasn't lying.

Happy New Year Everyone!

A Halo 3 Quote
It's early days yet, but after having a browse on Wikipedia (as you do), I've decided that I absolutely have to share with you this quote, from the E3 announcement trailer.

It's spoken by an AI called Cortana, who is apparently experiencing "rampancy" (Bungie's term for an AI going insane) at the hands of a Flood intelligence called Gravemind. This is all from Halo 2, so I won't go into why's and what for's, but here's that quote:

I have defied gods and demons.
I am your shield; I am your sword.
I know you; your past, your future.
This is how the world ends.

It's a fantastic trailer. Course, Bungie haven't said what the quote means, but it quotes T.S. Eliot's poem The Hollow Man, which says:

This is how the world ends,
Not with a bang, but with a whimper.

What's also of note is that, whilst Halo was still an RTS (Real Time Strategy. See: Command & Conquer) game being made for Macs, Bungie sent emails to a fansite under the name of Cortana. The first one, which was sent in 1999, said this at the end:

Oh, and your poet Eliot had it all wrong:
THIS is how the world ends.

But yeah, Cortana's mini-speech in the H3 Announcement trailer has got me wanting the game so badly. Roll on 2007 :(

Spartans invaded the 360 and we didn't even know it.

At least i didn't know it.   So i'm playing dead or alive 4 and I decide to beat the game with all the charactors and finally do so, beating it with Helena (one of my favorite female charactors).  I get the ending and then the credits.  As i'm watching the credits i get distracted for a moment by something and when i look back i see "Bungie".   Wait a minute i think.... Tecmo.... Bungie?   Something isn't right here.   I start watching intently until I notice more "Special Thanks" to Bungie studios.   Then i notice "Spartan 458".   WTF?  I finish up the credits and i see "Helena Costume unlocked"  "Spartan 458" unlocked.

I couldn't stop laughing giddily as i flip through the instruction manual and look way in the back to find more special thanks to Bungie.   Finally I go to the sparring option and test her out.   Its a blast to play as a spartan.  I then notice an extra stage.  If you have played Halo 2.... it looks very familiar.   You know that one docking bay where you see one of the other Orbital battle platforms explode?  Imageing having a martial arts battle in there... hehehe.

All i gotta say is...   Holy crap.!

Office Applications and Halo 2
I feel after this post that someone will hand me the geek award even though I didn't get linux running on some new device.

One feature of Halo 2 that I absolutely love, but never really found a use for was the ability for stat-saving. Any Halo 2 game you play over Xbox Live is stored in data format on a bungie server. The number of kills, deaths and scores of each game are there for you to view. Did someone kick your butt? Find out how good (or bad) they really are by entering in their Gamertag.

You can also subscribe to this information as an RSS feed. Very neat and cool, but I just hadn't quite understood how to really use the information yet. Well, after messing around with NeoOffice (OpenOffice for Java on a mac.) I finally was able to strip away not needed information in order to create my death database!

That is right! I have a spreadsheet that now can caluate my stats on Halo 2. Of course... I'm not really proud of it since I hardly play the game... but none the less... I have one!

In fact, On April 3, 2005. allaroundpsycho, nomad and myself all played some Halo 2 over Xbox Live. Here are some handy charts that will help you view the results.

Halo2scores

Now... I must say... First, AAP and I haven't played in a long time.  So the first couple of games were me getting the controls down faster then him.  Once we got playing... We are really pretty evenly matched.  Also, "Guest" may or may not be Nomad.  I'm pretty sure it is, but those scores don't represent her talents at Halo 2.  Plus... If AAP and I hadn't played in awhile... she has played less.

So there you have it folks.  The reason that Office applications and Halo 2 stats shouldn't go together.. or else you get charts!
