Sometimes you feel like a nut.
Today was a day of goods and bads:
Good:
  1.  My lesson plans went over well, despite being written in between parent conferences on Friday (can we say half-assed?)
  2.  My chocolate coffee uber-rich brownies are within 5 minutes of being done baking.
  3.  I took a very refreshing 30 min cat nap today.
  4. S came over last night (okay, semi-cheat on the date) and we ate, watched Serenity, and cuddled. Me likey.
Bad:
  1.  I've never had allergies before. Savannah has reduced my nasal passages to one constant snot factory, and my throat feels as if it's coated with a fine lining of sawdust.
  2. Jadenn freaked out today when I brought up the subject of S. Uh...HE'S the one who chose to put LA and 'his career' (snort) before our relationship, not me. Plus, he's the one who kept spouting that "We'll always be friends first" stuff!
  3. I have a crapload of poems left to grade.
  4. My hips totally don't fit in these jeans.
Hmm. I think the good wins out, if only due to the evening entertainments. I like him. We shall see. In the mean time, it's just fantabulous to have someone flirting with me again *grin*.

Happy Birthday, Cyclone!
So, my firstborn is fourteen years old, today.  His birthday dinner?  By his own request, pizza. And Ghirardelli brownies.  He's a teenager, what can I say?

He has received an art kit and cash. Plenty of cash.  Which he spent at Barnes & Noble yesterday. That's my boy!

And now, for your amusement, squirrels. (Utterly unrelated. I just thought it was too cool.)

KILLER BROWNIES
This was just too funny.  Now I'll go get a life... and maybe I'll make some brownies.

Sharing A Recipe - what I'm making for the Pot Luck lunch at work
Thought I'd share the recipe for a fabulous dessert I sometimes serve as a cake and sometimes as brownies.
It's chocolate divine! And best of all it's very easy to make and if you're daring and creative you can serve this treat in a variety of ways. Apparently a favourite among men and children as well as women not currently dieting! It's rich, it's loaded with butter and sugar and eggs - small servings satisfy a chocolate craving but this cake can easily become addicting!!!!

From a book; "The Best of  The Best and more" (Best of Bridge Series - Volume 1 - Best of Bridge Classics)
ingredients;

The Brownie Part

1 Cup Butter
2 Cups sugar
1/4 cup cocoa powder
4 Beaten Eggs
1 Tsp Vanilla
1 Cup Flour
1 Cup Chopped Walnuts or Pecans

The Icing Part

2 Cups Icing Sugar
2 Tbsp Butter
2 Tbsp Cocoa Powder
2 Tbsp Boiling Water
2 Tsp Vanilla

To make the brownies;
Cream together butter sugar and cocoa powder.
Mix in beaten eggs and vanilla. Add Flour and stir. Fold in Nuts. Bake in a greased 9 x 13 Pan at 350 F for 40 - 45 minutes. Top will appear to be underdone (falls in the middle) but don't overcook. Should be moist and chewy.

To make the icing;
Beat all ingredients together while brownies are baking. Pour on top as soon as brownies come out of the oven. It will melt into a shiny glaze.

If your mom loves chocolate - bake one for her for Mother's Day!
Bake it for a sweetie, for a friend, for your self! Enjoy!
I'm baking one to take to work and share in a pot luck lunch we've arranged to send off our store manager who's making a career change.

all we need is just a little patience

hello. i am making brownies cuz i really want chocolate and my parental unit says i can't eat my sister's candy so i am making brownies cuz my mom left. i am the only one in my house right now and my doggy is goin crazy cuz there is a puppy next door and she wants to hang out with her but she can't.  i'm watching baseball and for some reason, i'm gettin really into it. i can't wait for my brownies to be done. i keep talking to them, i don't know why. i heard that if you talk to plants, they grow faster. i wonder if that works with brownies?

no, they are not "special brownies".
