Book List @ MindSay

Books
Here's my goal: read and discuss a list of books varying in length, style, genre, and theme. Here's where you come in: If you've read my current book, discuss it with me. Criticize my analysis, add onto it, make any comments you feel like making. Please. :) So. My initial list, plus some justifications.

The List
1. The Harry Potter series...I haven't read them from a critical point of view, and it's a nostalgia thing.
2. The Historian...I've had the book for a year or two now, and still haven't read it.
3. Stardust...loved the movie, heard the book is much better.
4. Fight Club...I'll be reading this with two of my friends sometime in the near future anyway.
5. Pride and Prejudice...one of my favorite stories of all time.
6. The China Garden...really wanna rip apart some parts of this. They just bother me. And the other parts are so steeped in lore that I can mostly overlook the bad parts.

I'll be adding to that when I can think of something else. In the mean time, I've got the first Harry Potter before me, awaiting my attention.

Forever a Sleepwalker....

I received my honors English summer reading list.  The books???  Rocket Boys (the book October Sky is based upon.), in the stone circle (a book about a welsh girl and some ghost or something....),  and Ties that Bind, Ties that Break (about some Chinese girl from a traditional household or something....)   They sound all right, well, at least better than Dicey's Song.  :)  That has to count for something.

End of course for English was today also.  Was it easy?  Yes.  Too easy?  No.  :)    Tests can never be TOO easy.

Just wanted to tell you...

Wuthering Heights is the worst book ever.
...
Or maybe I'm just too young to appreciate it.

It's not my fault I read it.

But it's not very interesting to me.
Sorry folks.

However,
I do like Catcher In the Rye.

lol.

Funny book that.
Started The Remains of the Day...
but sort of forgot about it.

Got new manga and put it on the shelf.
I'll get it out again.

So many books I've been meaning to read.

I should make a list.
But I won't...
because that would be weird.

But I am weird.
Huh.

But not QUITE that nerdy. I think.

Anyway...

Vintage clothes. Think I was talking about that earlier. Best stuff ever.
lol

Why do my blogs always look like this.
Skipping lines.
Very vertical.

Kind of funny actually.

(no subject)

People should be lucky that there are nice people out there like my mom.  So, tonight we're standing outside and we hear someone out on the street and they were talking so we figured it was a couple of people walking down the street.

Not a big deal

So, about half an hour later we go out front.  In our next door neighbor's driveway one of the neighborhood kids is passed out cold, high as a kite.

So, Mom calls 911.  Dad goes over there to investigate and to make sure the kid is breathing etc still.  At that point we didn't know who it was.  We just knew it was probably a kid.  Dad can't get the kid up.  My sister goes over to investigate to see if she knows who it is.

She did.  So, mom called the kid's parents.  This kid has been in trouble before.  So, like five mins later *this kid lives down the street you'd think his parents would have made an effort to make it there quicker* here comes his dad and then like a min after that here comes the ambulance.  His dad's like he's alright and sends the ambulance on.

The kid is lucky someone like me didn't call.  Because I wouldn't have gone over there in case psycho-spaz had a gun or a knife, and then the cops would have had him and, knowing this kid, odds are he had stuff on him.

People like that make me sick

The first thing his dad asked him was "where have you been?"

I'm twenty years old and I live at home with my folks still, but you know what... when I go out I still tell my mom where I'm going.  I think this kid is like 17, and I know my mom would have known where I was at 17 at eight thirty at night.

*shakes head*
