Quote of the Week
I wish I were dedicated enough to actually do a weekly quote. Maybe I'll try that after my two year anniversary or something. I just love quotes and this is no exception.

Okay, so I am watching reruns of Bones. Which is a great procedural buddy cop show and highly enjoyable. If you've never seen it, I highly recommend it. I have both my parents loving it now. I haven't seen them all yet, but I am getting close. At any rate, I was watching a fourth season episode last night, called "The Passenger in the Oven" and there was this line in there that cracked me up. If you're not familiar, the female lead is a genius, forensic anthropologist who assists the FBI in solving murders. She is scientifically genius but completely clueless when it comes to everyday life. She doesn't understand popular culture at all. She works with an FBI liaison Agent Seeley Booth. Booth is a straight-arrow every man who tries to do the right thing. The best part of the show is watching these two figure how to work with each other because they are such completely different people. It makes for some entertaining moments in a gruesome cop show.

The particular scene went like this:

Dr. Brennan (played by the adorably awkward Emily Deschanel) and Agent Booth find a body while on a flight to China. They have to solve the crime before the plane lands and it is no longer under the FBI's jurisdiction. Dr. Brennan is going to do an autopsy of the body with materials that they've scavenged from other passengers on the plane. One of the things she needed was a magnifying glass. Agent Booth (played by the vampirically delicious David Boreanaz) found her a pair of granny glasses to use instead.

He walks into the autopsy area and she looks up at him with the giant granny glasses perched on her nose. Got the scene?

Booth: Right. What I want you to do is take off your glasses, shake out your hair and say,
"Mr. Booth, do you know what the penalty is for an overdue book?"
Brennan: Why?
Booth: (sighs and steps away) Never mind.

Seriously? I just laughed and laughed then backed it up and watched it again just so I could laugh again. Who doesn't love a good 'sexy librarian' joke? (Especially when it's made by a sexy man....)

Is Bicycling Bad For You?
Perusing the New York Times, I came across an article called "Is Bicycling Bad For Your Bones?"  Studies have shown a correlation between bicycling and brittle bones.  The bone density of 32 male, competitive bike riders, most in their late 20s and early 30s, was compared to that of age-matched controls, men who were active but not competitive athletes. Bone scans showed that almost all of the cyclists had significantly less bone density in the spine than the control group. Some of the racers, young men in their 20s, had osteopenia in their spines, a medical condition only one step below full-blown osteoporosis.

Interesting, to be sure, but I think you'd have to do an awful lot of cycling to have any ill effects.

Bone Yard News

So these movie people have been renting the house below us out for several weeks.  They are filiming a movie (name unknown and I've never heard of this movie company) in town.  There is a taxidermy shop shot and they have borrowed some of our skulls, hides and feathers for a shot.  If it is used, Little Hawk's Bone Yard will be mentioned in the credits.

Needless to say 'The Man' is estatic.  I've a more 'wait and see' approach but still very pleased.

New video to be uploaded soon and as soon as I find out what the name of the movie is and when it is to be released will post.

No place like home
Greetings ! Well, we're (me and Lilli aka omgwtf) back from the Ouachita mountains after four days at our cabin in the woods! We had a great time with the kids hiking, picture taking, relaxing and goofing off.
The first day we were there we were hiking down below the "beaver ponds" east of the horse camp when Lilli took a tumble on the trail ( she's my little George of the jungle) .  She looked up and said '"broke my finger". The look on her face told me it was true so I led us across the mountain to the horse camp to get help.
There happened to be a nurse there who iced Lil's hand and they kindly drove us back to our cabin.
After three hours at the hospital in Poteau Lil was braced and taped up and we were headed back to "pick up where we left off". Her index finger was broke and her whole hand was black and blue but she wasn't going to let it ruin our vacation.
We spent the next few days hiking with the kids (no computers and tv only at night). I drove them up on Talimena drive which is one of the top 10 scenic highways in America. Lilli took a thousand pictures and video with her new camera. We ate burgers and hotdogs and played games with the kids.
Every morning my dog April and I got up early and went for a run! The beautiful scenery and sounds of nature made the runs seem magical in a way!
I must say I thought about you guys as I ran some. I wondered what you were up to and what you were "cussing and discussing"!I hoped I hadn't missed something good!
I'm going back to the cabin next month and taking a couple of friends from kansas City with me. We're going to do a couple of long distance hikes ( 15 - 20 miles). I'm really looking forward it. There's no place like home and cedar Lake will always be mine!
