Birthstone @ MindSay

9 Days Early

Crossing the line between June and July, fireworks start to pop more frequently at night. M-80's and other large report incindiaries are being set off in the neighborhood. What was once quiet up to the 3rd, at least, now becomes a nightly quest to shatter the silence until the 4th.

July: Named for Julius Caesar, converted into a month after a suggestion from Mark Antony. Originally pronounced like 'Julie'.

For most of the month, the Western Astrological sign of Cancer the Crab rules until July 23rd. Can't think of a worse sign to be born under. With others, you can at least say "I'm a Pisces" or "I'm a Taurus", which nowadays might get you the response of, "You're a car??", but to say that "I'm a Cancer"...

Yeah, I know you can say "I'm a Cancerian", which is better, but not many people have heard of the word 'Cancerian'. Makes you sound like 'Libertarian'. Where Cancerians make up for it, however, is that the symbol for Cancer looks like '69' turned on its side. Score.

July's birthstone is the ruby.

Cancer is a water sign.

Just like the ebb and flow of the Moon that rules Cancer, life ebbs and flows. The pull of others can shift one off balance, or align them just right, or pull them into someone else's life. Even if the source can't be seen, its effects are still felt.

Attraction and repulsion are words that scientists and engineers use to describe unseen forces at work in the magnetic, gravitational, electrical, and atomic fields of study. The same words are used in relationships, with much the same meanings, although the outcomes are less well defined and predicted.

Just like as the Moon swings around to the other side of the Earth, or it takes up a place in Earth's shadow so we can't see it, its presence is still felt by the tides, animals, and the bubble of Earth's magnetic field. Just like people who have come into our lives, and are no longer there, still have an impact to this day because the memories of them persist like so much unseen gravitational pull. Their actions affect how we act, and react. Their inspiration, or cataclysmically painful connection gives us a new path to walk down, either towards a positive source, or running away from it, screaming.

There's nothing we can do. We're programmed to react, and to learn from the outside world.

To adapt.

To survive.

In 9 days, new programming will take effect.

Tides will shift - subtly for most, if not all.

A Cancer will be removed, but there will be no fireworks to celebrate.

Personal Gemstone Chosen & Other Thought's

I have finally found a gemstone that I can call my own. It is the ancient stone of my birth , and my zodiac. I have chosen bloodstone. Feel free to look up its history and meaning. Tell me what you think ?

Also, I want a new screen name. Something that is "me". I am open to suggestions. Or maybe I'll restore an old screen name, if its possiable. The Screen name that will be replaced will be EDMP88.

Although if and when I do, is still up for debate in my mind.

~ Peace

And I'm back...with a new name.

Several months after deleting my first mindsay blog (different name though; first time it was junsui) I am back again at the request of a friend. Just thought I'd post a little something so my blog wasn't a total blank.

I guess I'll just talk about my lovely name change. First time I was on mindsay, as I said, my name was junsui. This is the Japanese translation of the meaning of my nickname in English: pure. It's the nickname my friend and I coined for me in eighth grade. It's still my pen name when I write online on websites like fanfiction.net or fictionpress.com (although I haven't posted anything on the later in years). However, my friend has long since abandoned the original nickname she used (Suki) for one she thought was more creative and cool (Tsukinoshi).

Thus my decision to create a new nickname. Garnet happens to be my birthstone. When I was younger I actually really hated the color red, but now that I'm older I think the blood-red color of the birthstone garnet is really pretty. Also, I am a geology major so it has some real life signifiance to me. Although the most common color of garnet isn't actual red (I think it's green, my favorite color; those are usually the ones I see in lab anyway), it's a mineral (not a rock!) with Moh's hardness scale of 8 (my favorite number! Of the non-symbolic variety anyway. Infinity sideways :P). But besides all that, garnets are pretty nifty symbolically too. And I could go on and on, but I'll spare anyone who does happen to read this unless you claim to be interested. :P

The second half of my new nickname is a play on words with the religious reference "garden of Eden". But besides that Eden has the connotation of somewhere or some state of being happy. Which is my quest at the moment. I could go into more detail here as well, but for now I'm just going to go work on updating my stories and cleaning my apartment. Ciao! I hope I don't spend too much time writing blog entries now, lol.

The Sale Continues: Another Category, Another Product

This week the annual 50% off sale on all counted cross stitch patterns continues at http://www.carouselcharts.com. Kinda fun, this is my first annual 1/2 off sale.

January Birthstone FaerieA new figure "January Birthstone Faerie," with garnet birthstone and snowdrop flower, has been added to the faerie illustrations at the blanket reduced price for the whole site, making it well worth the click trip here. Expect another Faerie chart and the Carousel Bear Birth Record chart later this week if all goes well. All will be introduced at the half off sale price.

The new downloads also come with both the standard size chart and a large-print chart that can both be downloaded from the same page after purchase. Both standard and large versions are easy open .PDF format and print from any color printer. (High quality smooth paper or photo paper and better print settings recommended.)

For a gift your favorite cross stitcher will enjoy, roll charts up with the print on the inside, put the floss and fabric into your loosely rolled "tube" (3 or 4" diameter), wrap with semi-transparent or printed celophane plastic wrap, and tie ends for easy opening on a holiday and waa-laa, you have a great gift. Add in several of the "always free" freebie charts for a bonus.

Each sale of the Faerie chart will result in a charitable donation to the Autoimmunity Research Foundation for continued research on Th1 diseases (Sarcoidosis, RA, SLE, CFS, Lyme, Crones and others fall under this category of chronic disease processes). The Marshall Protocol has definitely been a great help in getting my Sarcoidosis under control and I'm confident that I am on my way to wellness.

That said, it hasn't been easy to start a business between bouts of Jarisch-Herxheimer Reactions (JHR or "Herx"). The day job often got the most attention when I had more energy. That's why the release of the "for sale" version of this chart is pretty exciting for me. I hope you will take a look.
