Big Mama @ MindSay
I was a bit taken aback with her nonchalance and I said, "Honey, this is a historic occasion!" She said, "I KNOW Mom!" I gave her a kiss and she bopped out of the house behind her father and went to school. (The kiddo is always bopping along or bouncing.)
Then the thought came to me that in her mind, the first African American president is no big deal because she will be part of a generation where the thought of having one isn't far fetched. When I was growing up it was a possibility, but it just like colonizing the moon was a possibility. It could happen, but it was unlikely it would happen in my lifetime. I know my Big Mama was sure it wouldn't happen in her lifetime. I'm glad I was wrong and I praise God that my Big Mama is alive to see it.
As for the kiddo, I thank God that she is nonchalant about Barack Obama taking the Oath of Office. Maybe she'll grow up in a generation where the first female president doesn't seem unlikely either.
I had a crazy weekend! Friday I went to Bastrop to see my Big Mama and the rest of my enormous family for the Fourth of July. My Big Mama had 12 children and she helped take care of three of my Big Daddy's other children. Most of these 15 children had children and a lot of them have grandchildren, so you can imagine how many folks were down there!
When we came back to Houston around 6:00 p.m. I rested for about an hour and a half and then got ready to meet JustJames his wife Jayme, their friend Richard and Environgirl for some karaoke. It was a bit lame because the DJ was horrible and for some reason people kept singing very low key, or sad songs. James as usual kicked ASS! He sang a song by Rage Against the Machine, Head Like a Hole by Nine Inch Nails and I backed him up when he sang Superfreak by Rick James. I also displayed my dance moves as I backed him up. I sang, Don't Leave Me This Way by Thelma Houston and Immigrant Song by Led Zeppelin. Later, a whole group of us sang Bohemian Rhapsody. None of the people in this group included Richard, Jayme or Environgirl because they are ninnies and never sing. :P When I got home I pretty much collapsed. It seemed like as soon as I closed my eyes I had to get up again and go to work. I barely made it in time!
I will post pics of my weekend later. I'm dog assed tired. Ciao!
This big mama of a praying mantis Cal caught for me! :D:D:D
She's very photogenic!
Look at her in comparison to my hand! I also fed her a cricket :D:D
I'm looking for a male...mantis babies!!
Yay! I'm blogging from a hotel in Bastrop, TX! Andreux loves this little town. My dad was born here and I feel so at peace everytime I visit now. When I was a teenager I hated going. Of course it was because I hated leaving the posh city life and my friends to hang out in the country. Now I love coming here! It's beautiful with thick woods and hills. At night the stars look HUGE and you can hear coyotes and owls singing.
The more west we traveled the stronger I felt. Hmm...maybe it could be because of the full moon, *wink* but ever since last summer I've felt a compulsion to travel west. I have no idea why, but SOMETHING is compelling me to go west. I wanted to go to Vegas during spring break, but finances and problems with the husband prevented that. I have cousins that live in California and I've been wanting to see them, too. Our family reunion in July is in Vegas, but I won't be able to attend because of school.
Anyway, the drive was nice. My daughter was so excited to see her "Big Mama"! As soon as we parked the car she dashed out and started running around the yard shouting "Yay We're at Big Mama's house!" My child has entirely too much energy! I've been trying to calm her down ever since LOL! She's been dying to take off her shoes so she can run around outside like a heathen. I'll have to make sure she doesn't cut her foot on a rock or step on a baby scorpion or something. Good grief.
Here's a picture of the old Bastrop iron bridge. I remember crossing this bridge all the time as a young'in. It crosses over the Colorado river.

Ewww Weeee, I love bacon grease, and I love big asses, but this is a little too much ass even for me. I'd hate to be standing behind her when she farts. I wonder if they make underwear big enough for an ass that size?
I wonder if she farts in bed next to her husband. She probably beats the shit out of him from time to time just to keep him in line........Yeah, I love bacon grease. Give me a few fried eggs cooked in bacon grease with bacon, fried potatoes, and toast smothered in butter.......but no grits.....I hate fucking grits. I'll bet Big Mama in the pic loves grits. I'll bet she eats anything that isn't nailed down.
Big Mama's Friend, "Girlfriend" below
NO YOU FUCKING LARDASS, NOT AT ALL!
