Bible Camp @ MindSay

Week 2

First week of camp. As far as I can tell. I only made 2 mistakes

1) I was a camper

2) I did too many staff like things

I hate being a stamper, or a calf, or whatever you want to call it.

I'm kind of mellow at the moment. I'm listening to too many sad songs.

I'll give you all a rundown on what happened this past week.

I was thinking of doing a day-by-day thing, but that is way too boring, so I’m just going to do a summary.

When I got to camp I expecting it to be like every other year I’ve ever been a camper. But it wasn't. It was one of the most powerful weeks of my life. I realized some things that I’ve been doing that I never noticed before. I also noticed that my walk with the Lord hasn't been that strong. I think most of this is because of the speaker we had this week. His name was Jeremy. Jeremy was one of the most 'real' speakers I have ever heard. He explained things in ways I had never. And he also gave me some ideas on how to lead the rest of my life.

I met a lot of new people, and had a lot of fun. And that was another really hard thing. This past week I think I made the most friends I have ever made anywhere. It was difficult to leave and say goodbye to some of them. Okay, that doesn't help either; I’m currently listening to I'll Be Missing You - P. Diddy ft. Faith Evans. It sounds really corny, but I’m almost gonna cry.

My cabin this year was the best I have ever had in the 9 years I’ve been at camp. They were all fun and I got along with all of them, and it seemed like they got along with me to. I guess part of it was my cabin leaders; they were the best I’ve ever had. Bob brings fun and life into the cabin, Tim brings music and energy, and Daryl just ties everything together. I couldn't have imagined the cabin without any one of them.

I also met someone really special during the week, we decided to stay really good friends, but I feel a lot better every time I talk to her, or see her.

Anyway, the three people that I met this year that were particularly hard to say bye to were Kayla, Max, and Jillian. The four of us were tight. We would always hang out and tell each other everything. And cry on each other’s shoulders.

A good highlight out of the week was something that happened on the last night. I'm not going t o disclose too much information, but it had to do with a guy’s cabin running around in the field in the middle of the night. Guess for yourself.

Back to the sad stuff...

Testimony campfire. I don't think I have ever seen so many tears being shed, or hugs given.

I feel that this past week was a good note to leave off on. I don't think I’ll ever go back as a camper, but I’ll still enjoy camp being staff.

To sum it all up, the best thing that I think happened this week was meeting Jeremy Sawatzky. He is the best advice giver ever.

I don’t know if any of that made sense…

Anyway, I kina have to go to bed now, I might add more tomorrow. But we'll see. I'm defiantly teary eyed.

Peace Out....

(no subject)

Ok get this...I went to a Bible camp retreat this weekend. It was at Crystal Springs Baptist camp, 9-12 grade and i ahve to admit....DAMN!! It was actually a really good time. I think I belive.

Ok, if God created man, whom created God?? And what is nothing. Nothing has to be something. Think of nothing once. You might think of just black or just white, but those are colors. It is so supernatural, everything has no explanation. Sure you may think that like...strawberries taste like (duh) strawberries, but we have nothign to compair it too so how do we know?

we don't

Activate! continues

It's already Thursday here at Dorion Bible Camp and in just one day, the week will be finished and campers will be going home.  Being a younger age group this week, many were expecting a lot of homesick campers, but truth be known that there were only a few.  It's amazing to see how a little Ginger Ale fixes that 'tummy ache' and helps a camper make it through the night.

  • Yesterday was BBQ lunch and the weather was perfect for that.
  • Maija Mania was fun with a rousing game of 'Bunnies"
  • Dam Building is an activity of particular interest for this age group
  • Last night was testimony camp fire
  • Chapel was great!
  • Swim was fun!
  • meals were delicious!
  • The staff had a good time getting together in the chapel last night to have a time of singing and to listen to a devotion led by Chris Vieira
  • "It's like I got my Holy Spirit today!"  (a quote from a camper who got saved this week)
  • tonight is going to be a hoot as we will be having Camp Dorion's weekly Variety Night :)
  • the bottle rockets were painted today and they look great!!!
  • Tumble Out Zipped the Zip Line
  • the kub kars are just about ready for tomorrow's big race
  • And, Dorion Bible Camp will be having a fair tomorrow afternoon!  That's going to be a blast!!!! :) :) :)

That's it for now - thanks for visiting Dorion Bible Camp's Blog.  Don't forget to visit us at www.campdorion.com too.

The Dishwasher Works!!!!

Yes, it’s true!  The dishwasher is up and running.  It was amazing to see how there were so many people working together to get it going for supper.  It was nice to walk through the dining hall and see the tables set for supper, not the big long buffet table.  God is good!

It was another hot one today.  Everyone was glad to get into the water at swim time. They were also excited to play on the ‘slip and slide’.  Our water volleyball set needs a patch job, though before we can use it.

The favorite activity of the day was, by far, the slingshot paintball.  We got the big tires delivered this morning to finish up the course, so stay tuned.

Some other events of today were:

-         A game called Gold Rush

-         Magda got a massage from Carla

-         A rousing game of Pictionary

-         Jenn’s Den was officially opened this evening

-         BBQ lunch

-         A very good spaghetti supper

-         There was also at least one camper who met Jesus today!

Well I gotta go now but stay tuned for more action tomorrow! J

Here it comes!

Well here comes Staff O!  Just a day and a half away and things are rolling right along.  Where has the time gone?

It is so exciting to see the camp coming together and changes taking place.  There are so many things that God has blessed us with for this year!  It is so amazing!

The car wash was a success!  It was a blast and a little crispy as well but it’s all good!  J  A huge thank you to all who helped out.  An even bigger thank you to Pete and Alysha for everything you provided for the crew!

Not much to say today except six more days till camp!!!
