The Kansas Jayhawks defeated the running and gunning Baylor Bears 100-90 last night. KU hit the 100 point mark despite not hitting a three-pointer for the entire game. Baylor was able to knock down 12 of them which is what kept them in the game.
Baylor came out running and held the lead for most of the first half. Brandon Rush scored a basket while getting fouled with the game tied late in the half. He hit the free throw to give KU a 36-33 lead going into the locker room.
The second half turned into a track meet. KU ended up scoring 64 points in the second half. It was their highest scoring half of the year. Baylor was able to tie the game at 50 until KU finally put the game away.
Darrell Arthur led KU with 23 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocks. Russell Robinson had an outstanding game. He racked up a season-high 22 points. He was 14-15 from the free throw line. KU made 36-46 free throws as a team.
Sherron Collins scored 17 points in the game as he used his quickness to get to the basket. Mario Chalmers played an all around good game by notching 10 points(all in the second half), 7 assists, 5 boards, and 4 steals.
KU is now 23-1 this season. They are 8-1 in conference play. Kansas is now 13-1 all-time against Baylor.
The Jayhawks will take on Texas in Austin on Monday night. The game will be televised on ESPN at 8pm Eastern.
The Kansas Jayhawks improved to 6-0 on the season with a 58-10 stomping of Baylor. KU's 58 points were the most they have ever scored in a Big 12 contest.
Marcus Herford scored the game's first touchdown when he returned a kickoff 88 yards. That made the score 10-3 in KU's favor. The Jayhawks never looked back.
Kansas outgained the Bears 241-48 on the ground. Jake Sharp had 110 of those yards. Four different players scored rushing TDs.
Todd Reesing threw for 186 yards and 2 TDs. KU's defense picked off 4 passes.
KU is 6-0 for the first time since 1995. They are 2-0 in conference play for the first time since 1997.
KU will travel to Colorado next week.
I haven't seen a slaughter like that in Waco since the FBI murdered David Koresh and his friends. Speaking of which, I will be posting something about that situation in the near future.

Waco, Texas -
In a game it led by as many as 28 points, the University of Kansas men's basketball team (17-3, 4-1) defeated Baylor (11-8, 1-5), 82-56, Wednesday night at the Ferrell Center. Sophomore Brandon Rush led KU with 18 points and a team-high eight rebounds while sophomore Julian Wright added 16 points and six boards.
Freshman Sherron Collins was the Jayhawks' other double-digit scorer, pouring in 13 points off the bench, including three three-pointers.
Three other Jayhawks added at least eight points. Junior Russell Robinson scored nine points and dished out four assists. Sophomore guard Mario Chalmers added nine points, including two three-pointers, and freshman Darrell Arthur scored eight points off the bench.
The Jayhawks shot 50 percent both from the field (29-of-58) and from beyond the three-point arc (8-of-16) for the game. The Jayhawk defense continually stymied Baylor's offense, limiting the Bears to just 30 percent shooting from the field (20-of-66) and 18 percent from three-point land (4-of-22) in the contest.
Kansas took a 40-18 lead into halftime as Wright and Rush each had nine points and the team shot 64 percent from the field. The Jayhawks jumped out to a 22-5 lead in the first half. KU's defense limited Baylor to 2-of-19 shooting (11 percent) during the run. A highlight of the frame came when Rush emphatically flushed a missed three-pointer to lengthen the lead to 27-7.
The Jayhawks return home to Allen Fieldhouse Saturday to take on Colorado. Tip-off is slated for 12:45 p.m. and the game is set to air on ESPN Plus.
