American Idol Review @ MindSay
work, homework, and moving work
As I'm sitting here watching American Idol rewind, still haven't touched my homework yet. Tonight we are going over a friend's to make them dinner and do our laundry and play with their baby boy. I really don't know why I am so disinterested in my work. I do enjoy it for the most part. I will enjoy it more when I have more say with what I am doing rather than following specific instructions. But, Review is next week. I am so far behind in my lab work for computer science. I am just so unmotivated, and I have no idea why. I haven't looked at wedding stuff in forever, I'm really not interested in anything on the 5 channels that we have, I'm done with the internet, other than typing right now. I know if I don't pass class and review, I won't be able to move onto my next semester. And yet, here I sit. I want to look for a different job other than the ice company. I thought about it a little more, and decided that if I took the job and worked through September, I wouldn't be able to do any homework. I have photography next semester, and I have to take it, but when would I have time to take the photos? So I don't think I'm going to be able to do it. Which I'm ok with, but where am I going to get a job then?! Steve and I are moving in May to a one bedroom apartment. We are staying in the same complex, so moving shouldn't be hard. I want to be on the second floor, because in the very back, people have had their apartments broken into, and regardless of where on the first floor you are, people go out, and come home late at night and flash their car lights right into the bedroom window! It's so annoying. I am so excited about our one bedroom though! I have been thinking about how nice we are going to keep it, we are going to clean it before we bring anything in, then, we have been planning where everything is going to be placed, and how much better it's going to be with just me and him. Right now, there is mold because before they "fixed" it up, the first floor would always flood, so there is a huge problem with dampness and mold, and bugs. Anyway, I guess I'm going to try and find something to eat..... and then try to work on my homework. Oh, I have a funny story for next time about my spring break.
This week's Idol Chatter 4/17/07
Up first was Phil Stacey…we got a hot one tonight America!!! Phil baby, you have found your niche!!!! Phil was awesome doing his country thang!!! I think it helped he was first.
Jordin Sparks, second only in the line up, beautiful as always (she reminds me of Callie from Grey’s Anatomy), carrying herself with the poise, power, and grace of a thirty year old…she gave me goose pimples!!! This reviewer has said it from the beginning~ this girl has got mad talent. I still think we have not seen her best or what she is fully capable of.
Fourth up was Lakisha…this is the first week I haven’t liked her. It was just a mess. I hated every second. Thank God she has a strong fan base because based on tonight’s performance Miss Kiki would be packing her bags and on the jet home, tucking her kid in personally Wednesday night.
Chris…had an off night…understandable if he was effected by recent events. His performance was…dare I say it (the p word)? It was very “pitchy”…it was pitchy, okay. And I’d still listen to/watch you sing the telephone book.
Melinda…Loved her hair tonight, she looked great! This girl is a born performer!!! She was awesome. Can she suck? Can she be off? Is it even in her? That is my question? I agree that she can’t still be surprised by comments on how great she is. Maybe she really is that sweet…but she seriously needs to stop. It’s O.K. to revel in your awesome self, girl, GO ON!!!
Blake (during commercial break… please let Blake be good, please let Blake be good…) And then Blake was not good, but eh, it’s not his genre…you get a free pass from me this week pal. But next week…you better bring it, BOY!!!
Were Randy and Paula even at the same show?

This week's Idol Chatter
Lakisha, was an awesome way to start of the show, while I still see her as more of a broadway performer than a pop idol, the girl has got crazy talent. She remains in a league of her own.
Chris Sligh, he quite improved and made me remember why I liked him in the first place with toinight's performance, he was off-beat and he readily admitted it with a humble attitude, that was nice to see. Chris you are a great guy with a very good voice, but you won't be around much longer.
Gina Glocksen, my girl from (illinois really) WIsconsin! She did so well I was really happy for her. She is proving that she should be here.
Hayley Scarnato, She looked great, sounded great, I liked how she did the song. Her version was really pretty. But it is one of those songs that you just don't mess with I think, and that is what turned everyone off, She seems to be having a very hard time finding out who she is, and what genre she needs to stick with. I wonder how she would do if she sang more country, she reminds me of Carrie Underwood in some ways.
Sanjaya, can you please stop with the hair. He is young, but he reminds me of the Middle school boys I used to work with. It's pretty bad when even Simon is tired of hearing himself tell him that he's just not good enough. And the horrible thing is, I think he can sing, but for whatever reason he's not really trying. You can tell in his song choice. He just doesn't want it as some others do. That's why he won't make it. Maybe all he needs to do is mature a little.
Phil Stacey...WOW... he was my favorite performace of the night. As you know, if you have been reading my AI reviews, I have not been a fan of Stacey since Hollywood, but he was an excellent performer tonight. I was surprised they didn't call his a copy cat preformance, but he was really good...dare I say it? I liked it better than the original.
Blake Lewis...what was that? And he's the front runner? I have said that for a long time now, but based on last night's performance, it was a mess, I hated it. Sounding better than the Cure, isn't much of a feat in my opinion.
Melinda proved yet again she's got crazy amounts of talent. She will be a HUGE R&B singer, HUGE! It would be great if she did some broadway stuff too. My only gripe with her is I would much rather listen to her perform, than watch her. She'll do well on the radio.
Jordin Sparks, last night she was fun and cute but I just didn't get what the judges were so crazy about. Sometimes I think Paula and Randy just reiterate what the Celebrity guest say, but in there own (sometimes confusing) words. And I love her, but this really could have been better. I expect more from Jordin than what she showed last night. She is better than that perfromance.
Chris...I thought you did well, you're my guy. And could he possible be as humble and modest as he seems? Not your best, but still very good, and much better than Blake Lewis

American Idol Review 3/20/07
Tonight's Idol chatter...
Hayley Scarnato was up first with, "Tell Him", she did so well coming off the starting block. She looked great, what a gorgeous girl, lots of personality tonight! While her voice was without, Simon surely can't say America won't remember her. If this was a competition that wasn't about singing, she would have done amazingly well. She is, afterall, much better than many pop stars on the charts today- Ashley Simpson, for one example.
Chris Richardson was second in line with "Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying" He is my boy!! (I'm using my English to "Dawg" Dictionary tonight). Love him! Not crazy about his song choice. But DAMN did he sing the hell out of it! He can sing anything. I'd listen to him sing the phonebook, LOL! And could he BE any cuter? Love, Love, Love him!!!!!
Stephanie Edwards is up next with "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me". As I was watching her I couldn't help but see how uncomfortable she looked on stage. With some confidence she could be comparable to Beyonce.
Blake Lewis, another front runner in my opinion, was next in tonight's line up. He started the song off with his trademark beat-boxing on "Time of the Season." The arrangement was really good, kudos belong to whoever did it! He really modernized this song. He is a true artist.
LaKisha (has proven "Diva-ness" of first name worthiness), with "Diamonds are Forever." She will be so good on Broadway. No worries...you will never have to work a blue collar job again my dear...But I hated, hated, hated the song choice. She should have taken the advice of veteran performer LULU
Phil Stacey brought "Tobacco Road." Who knew this kid could rock? Really good song choice, he really got into it and I actually enjoyed the performance. For once, I whole-heartedly disagreed with Simon. It was a good performance. He gave it his all, he deserves to come back next week.
Jordin Sparks sang "I Who Have Nothing"-I'd actually never heard this song before, I loved it! And Jordin, one word: AMAZING!!! Like I said before, she has just begun to show us what she can do. Oh, and she looked beautiful also.
Sanjaya (has also gained first name status, but for different reasons) 8th up to bat, with "You really got me." There were little pre-teens girls actually screaming and crying in the audience, how funny! I'm just glad he didn't do something crazy stupid to his Ferra Faucet-like hair. I'll leave it there.
Gina Glockson, who is my favorite girl primarily because she was a regular performer at the Brat Stop, a venue in my hometown, also the first place I ever got wasted (while underage). She had a great look tonight, cute hair cut and color. "Paint It Black" was her song choice. I just didn't get it, any of it. I am still rooting for you girl, but Simon was spot on the mark with his review.
Chris Sligh, what first had me rooting for the guy, now has me leaving the room when he sings. He is a great guy, super funny, great personality (off-stage), but a very humble voice. Bold move emerging from the audience at the start of the song, but then again, confidence is something that never appeared to be lacking in Chris. I was just so bored with his performance, I am bored with him period. Pack your bags Chris, you are going home.
Melinda Doolittle sang "As Long As He Needs Me"....What can you say about Melinda? Barbara Streisand caliber. It can be as simply summed up as that.
