Poverty In America

Poverty in America.

Gee.  I’ve been doing this—although we never have bought organic food—my whole life!

“The last thing Marti Tracy wants to do on a Saturday is clip coupons. But last month the 34-year-old Bowie resident felt she no longer had a choice. She'd already given up organic meat and decided to buy organic milk only for her 2-year-old son, not for the whole family.

Tracy and her partner also stopped buying the cereals they like in favor of whatever was on sale; stopped picking up convenient single-size packs of juice, water or crackers; and, in order to save gas, stopped going to multiple stores. ‘I find the whole thing a huge hassle, but I've reached a tipping point,’ said Tracy, a government human resources specialist who is pregnant with her second child. ‘Clearly, I'm not unable to feed my family. But I just can't feed my family the way I'd like to feed them.’”

ISLAMIC FINANCE IS UNAMERICAN, HURTS INFIDELS

Man I have to tell you Church’s Chicken is one of the best fast food franchises serving good tasting Chicken. Alas, being a confirmed Islamophobe, I may think twice before I patronize Church’s Chicken again.

The End of America

The United States is, as Noam Chomsky has said, a failed state.

The government no longer functions as a democracy, and has become authoritarian and largely chaotic.

In my opinion, there are two main reasons for this: the erosion of separation of powers and the breakdown of journalistic integrity.

On the issue of separation of powers, one could argue convincingly that the United States is run solely and entirely by the executive branch. The Congress has done absolutely nothing to stop the war (and did nothing to prevent it). It has done nothing to help the millions who live in poverty. It has failed to address the healthcare crisis. It has done nothing to ease the housing mess. The judicial branch has also become an idle, useless institution and has done nothing to stop the government's semi-official policies of torture and illegal spying. If anything, recent rulings have served to legitimize the Bush administration's abuse of power.

On the second point, I think the media have become nothing short of cheerleaders for those in power. Few journalists challenged the Bush administration's assertions that Iraq had WMD, and seemingly fewer still are willing to stand up to the administration today. They have failed to hold responsible those who lied to us, took us to war, and who are directly responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Iraqi men, women and children as well as more for American deaths than those caused by the 9/11/01 terrorist attacks. They are just as complacent about issues such global warming, poverty, and human rights violations. The mainstream media outlets are now almost completely controlled by powerful corporations which have profit in mind, rather than an informed and educated public.

I have little hope that things will change even after Bush leaves office. He and his gang of criminals are certainly responsible for much of this, but more than individuals, the problem lies deep within our institutions, as well as the corporate culture of this country. Changing course will entail a long and hard battle against the rich, the powerful, and the misinformed.

Left Wingers and Islamists, watch and know America is blessed by God.

Al-Sadr may restart full-scale fight against US in Iraq

Well so much for the Sadar family dealing Muqtada al-Sadr privately as a family matter. Al-Sadr apparently is gaining confidence from rogue Iran that wishes to carve out a Middle Eastern hegemonic power base in the Middle East.

The Yahoo News source I just read implied al-Sadr is prepared to engage the U.S. military on a full scale basis in order to carve out his own Iraqi mini-state. Let’s see, what that State be called? Perhaps it would be called the Mahdi Republic or perhaps al-Sadr would just proclaim al-Sadr’s fiefdom a new part of the Shi’ite Islamofascist Republic of Iran.

Hello, its another play for oil power in the Middle East. It is somewhat like Saddam Hussein’s invasion of Kuwait to usurp oil for more money to rebuild Iraq after Iraq-Iran War ceased.

This could be another move on the chess board of war preparations between Iran and America: Patraeus was elevated to CentCom Commander so Iran elicits pressure from client terrorist al-Sadr.
