I may be getting ahead of myself and creating a jinx here but my first night set up for deterring coyotes has been successful - so far. we got rid of the scat- as we always do- but this time i added some surprises:

Jim blocked a passage under the fence in the western corner with some large rocks. I placed sheets of aluminum foil on the ground where the coyote appears to enjoy defecating and then we added some outdoor lights and turned on the large flood lights in the yard.  No scat this morning but more importantly we could sleep with the windows open and Abi didn't wake us at 4 am crying because she smelled the coyote and was afraid.

today I will add more foil and mothballs along the edges of the yard. ever since the terror incident Abi hasn't even wanted to use the dining room deck because she could smell mr c.

jim has finished painting the added library shelves and they look spectacularly sound. it creates an entire built in feeling around the window and gives me more bookshelf space, a place for abs to perch and some room for tchotchkes. in his typical pattern they are sturdy enough to use as a sleeping platform. husbands are quite handy to have.

i guess its time to update again.

I went fishing on sunday. tested out the new (small aluminum) boat. more stable than our canoe, but not by much. of course i always outfish my dad, but since all we caught were two fish, and i caught them both, its not that hard to win. besides, when do sheepshead count as a catch? all they are good for is a good fight. and bending your hook.

other than that its been the same old story. and no, im not telling the trip facts yet kimmy! so stop stalking me! ill probably update that this weekend before i go. ciao
