7 Good Things to Have on Your Computer (expanded)
(the original seven from loveisnicotine )
1. Opera (browser) -- I got it not too long ago (read: two hours ago), and holy Jesus's panties, it's fast as hell! It's about 10 times better than Firefox and 50 times better than explorer.
2. Advanced Windows Care - This solves pretty much all your problems (if you have Windows, that is) -- Viruses, unused junk stored on your computer, the annoying programs that automatically pop up when you start up your computer... etc.
3. Gimp - It's an excellent program, almost exactly like Photoshop (from what I recall of it, what with occasionally using my parents' computer) -- but better in that it's free, and it's much easier to figure out.
4. Soulseek - File-sharing program. I like it because you can find bands on there that never appear in Limewire or Morpheus (another file-sharing program I once tried -- which sucked), and it's all nice and clean in it's design.
5. uTorrent - Another file-sharing program, but much more useful for things like games and movies. It's fairly fast, and much better than the other ones I've tried.
6. Mozilla Firefox (browser) - There are one or two things Opera can't do -- for an example, for some reason it's not showing me blogging options on Mindsay (you know, like Italics and the such) -- so Firefox is good as a backup... Though compared to Opera, it's practically sluggish.
7. Videora iPod Converter - This is for the people who have an iPod; it converts any videos for you into ones you can stick on there.
(expansion by me):
8. Photoshop CS3 - The latest and best version of the professional Adobe program. Has a better layout than CS2 and a much better "Vanishing Point" tool. The haxxorz at bit torrent monster finally made a crack for it and you can download it via .torrent @ btmon.com
9. Ad-Aware 2007 (free version) - Dedicated regular updates on virus definitions and a kick ass system searching engine.
10. Spybot Search and Destroy - Another sweet free adware/spyware scanner. Has a browser immunizer for Explorer and Firefox.
11. Adobe Audition 3.0 - A professional audio recording/editing/mastering program. My favorite and available via torrent @ btmon.com
12. Iconize - A great freeware tool that allows you to take progams that appear on the bottom taskbar and put them in the system tray on the right side of the screen so they take up less space and still accessable via icon, and allows you to hide some software as it works in the background.
13. honestech video editor - I got it from a torrent site but it may be freeware. Simple and fun.
14. AlltoAVI - Freeware. This nifty little program can convert those pesky .mkv and .ogm videos for you to .avi. Many videos have the .mkv and .ogm video codecs and a good lot of people don't have players that have those codecs, so this will help you out there. It's also good for pre-converting videos to be converted using Videora iPod Convertor because Videora doesn't have the codecs to convert directly from .mkv and .ogm.

Photography, recent reflections

These are a few recent photographers that I have taken, I like experimenting especially with nature, I like many types of photography. I feel very artistic with my photography and feel there are no boundaries!

Recently I have been carrying on with my reading for my modules, including on Semiotics and the radio. I have read The Media Studies reader, John Fiske, Sassasure etc also the reading made us apply semiotics theory to powers and influence of advertising. Semiotics in advertising has had much affect upon consumers and the producers have succeeded, such as colour and font use which can establish the target audience and affect our emotional state. Also in Foundation Video we have started filming our Key Drop project, this follows the typical equilibrium, disequilibrium and new equilibrium structure and includes a variety of shots. My group's plot is, where a character gets attacked/mugged (which disrupts the equilibrium), then he trys to find help which leads to the new equilibrium and the climax stage. Editing will take place in Adobe Premiere Pro including, transitions, cuts, fades, background music etc.

In New Media I have produced a brief website using Adobe Dreamweaver about the Lewes Bonfire, it consists of website links, email links, links between pages and the appropriate writing style for the web, as many people do not like reading large amount of text on the internet as they prefer it to be more clear such as bullet points, short paragraphs etc. Also we have started experimenting with Adobe Photoshop.

YouTube Insert Test

Does this work (or show up) for you? If not, go to THIS link for all the information you'll need to make it work for you. It's an Adobe (well respected) runtime plugin. Easy enough!

If you don't see anything above this (probable), then you need to go to the link above if you're interested.

Technical difficulties?
There's something wrong with our software. For some reason it's screwing up on both of our computers. It's kinda working, we had to like record the special guest segment 3-4 times over, it took 3 hours. Anyway. So now it's just like a real damned pain to edit at this rate. It'll be finished hopefully by Monday, I'm spending a lot of time on this... Adobe Audition is FABULOUS. I love all Adobe creations. The sound quality is superb, absolutely unbeatable.
So. If you guys still want to "advertize" anything on the show, we're still editing and recording so feel free to send them in anytime in the next 48 hours.

Cheers,
-THLS
