My first blog entry

A little bit about me:

My name is Eladio and I've lived in San Diego for over three years, althought I'll be moving to Utah in a few days. My wonderful wife and I will be starting college there in the spring. I've been in the U.S. Navy for four years and I'm ready to move on. In 2008, I was deployed to Kuwait in support of OIF/OEF and even got to visit Afghanistan for a few days.

My experience in the military and the time I've had to find myself while serving has led me to become an activist against imperialism, war, and injustice. I hope to finish college and then attend graduate school so one day I can teach at the college level and share my thoughts and experience with young people.

Much more to follow...

A Powerful weapon!
Seems that blogging is quickly changing our world. Many are using this resource as a powerful activists tool. But in some countries bloggers are finding this can be dangerous!

"Bloggers in some nations are being imprisoned for publicizing human rights abuses over the Internet. Organizations in the free world have been coming to their defense." "Activists who run blog sites to protest restrictions to civil rights and human rights in countries from Morocco to Iran are being harassed, even thrown in prison."

Blogging is a great tool for venting, sharing and expressing your views. But it is also a very effective tool in making others aware of social injustice, political atrocities  and human rights violations.
In the United States where"'free speech" is seen as a right and a privilege, the internet blogging communities provide a great place to "get the word out". But because of their effectiveness some countries see them as a threat.

People of all ages can use blogging to call attention to their "causes and concerns". Hopefully, that will never change. But I am sure and have no doubt that our country as well as others monitors the activities of internet blogging. It doesn't take much to be labeled as a "threat" when your willing to stand up and speak out against the "establishment" especially since the advent of the "terrorist act".

Seems those who protest "war" are a particular target of interest or those who oppose a president ( such as those who opposed president Bush). It doesn't take much to be labeled as a "terrorist" these days. According to Wikipedia :Terrorism has been practiced by a broad array of political organizations for furthering their objectives. It has been practiced by both right-wing and left-wing political parties, nationalistic groups, religious groups, revolutionaries, and ruling governments.
So those who speak out against the status quo are seen as potential "trouble makers or possible future terrorists".

America doesn't mind so much those that "speak out" but it fears those willing to step out, march, sit in and protest. Actions speak much louder than words.Tell someone your mad at them and you may not "move them". But stand in their front lawn with sign, bull horns and march around singing "we shall overcome" and your bound to get some action!

IDK&IDFC - Whatever..........

Ah, the revolution begins anew with the invention (I believe) of a sniglet two dear friends coined to explain the mentality of the nation...all nations, actually...in reference to global issues: IDK&IDFC.

IDK&IDFC stands for the instant apathy and ignorant dissmissal that rides in on the tide of "Hope". For example, let's say, our own nation needs petitions and bills to come forward in order for anyone in office to know what we need or want. This is *our* job, as citizens, taxpayers, and possible candidates for any government office should we so choose. Now...

We heard, and we still hear "Yes, we can!" or better yet - "All fired up? Ready to go!" but it's a boldfaced lie. Truth is, we are asked "All fired up?" And what we mean to say is "IDK&IDFC, someone else will do it." Really? Who? Einstein is dead, Socrates wouldn't touch our lifeless useless lumpy brains with a 10 foot skewer. Ghandi would shudder at the sight of so many who care so little while expecting so much, and Aristotle likely knew it'd come to this and much prefer to be left out of the whole sham that is our "patriotism".

IDK&IDFC is, in no clearer terms, "I don't know, & I don't fucking care."

It's true, and you know it. Think to the last time someone told you of something that was a state, city, or national issue, and you thought they said "Wha waa waa wah, bluh blabble bla wa." And you said, aloud, "Um, well I have to do...." (ie.) You Lied. Plain and simple. You don't care, and you don't know about anything in detail aside from what you read from blogs. Guess what - not good enough. Claim liberty and freedom, will you, but lizard forbid you should ever attempt to help the system that carries you and yours safeley from birth to eldercare - you're blowing it.

It's not about being an "activist" or an "extremist" or a "radical". It's about - love, life, happiness, peace, fair wages, equality, support for those who need us, and healthcare - don't even get me started on SSI. Look - just give a damn. You're alive, you have things that in other countries are rare and treasured. We're spoilt to the point we think the world owes us. I think we owe them. Here's a start, just think about it. From now on, I'm putting a link in to something that needs attention, that effects on a large scale, and that honestly, IDK&IDFC can go fly off a damn cliff over. We need to change our world, for if we don't who will....and what will become of our pathetic, lazy, blame-natured species die off, as we deplete and rarify every resource we touch? We are killing ourselves....for nothing. Stupid humans....

And don't freak, it's an easy peasy, no-stress, no-action required deal. Just pick a charity and click...and what do you know, it helps.

Good move for the future link of today: http://www.greatergood.com/

If you ever really want to try making a difference by more than clicking, and by being active, drop me a line and myself and 'nyourfacegrace' will keep you up to date on the major USA wide issues that need attention.

Everybody Scream!

So, President Barak Obama is now in office. He has a dream and a vision I fully support and campaigned for during his election. Many of you supported him too.

But the fight is not over, on the contrary, it has just begun. We raised our voices during the election to let Washington know we were ready for a change, a new direction for America and we were heard. Now we must srceam louder than ever to once more say to Washington "We still stand with Obama, and we still want change and we expect you to back him!"

It is imperative that we continue to march, petition and make calls to Senators, Congressmen and Representatives to get them "onboard" also.

The President needs the support of fellow politicians to pass crucial bills such as "HR676-National healthcare, withdrawal from Iraq, repeal don't ask, don't tell,GLBT equality, stem cell research and many others.

You can help President Obama by voicing your opinion to Washington, organizing local groups and writing local papers. (http://www.usa.gov/Contact/Elected.shtml)

If you are a student ,you have a great opportunity to reach the young adults of America. Remember, this is your country and you have an obligation to help bring about change for the sake of your generation and those that come after.

I was a teen in the 60's and 70's and we stood for peace and an end to the Vietnam war. We marched, petitioned and protested and many spent time in jail for civil disobedience because we were willing to do what ever it took to bring about change we believed in.

I believe in this generation and we need you in the fight for justice and equality. Are you ready? Then on the count of three Everbody Scream!!!One ...two....three!!!!!!!!!!!! Smiley

Sobering humanity: Ignorance is the excuse of the sedated mind.

Whether the world is moving rapidly into global warming or whether it is moving into a period of global cooling, we should be concerned that our activities are not without consequence to outselves, the collective communtiy of humantiy, and the environment in which we live.  The ignorance is amazing, but not surprising ina  global age where capitalism is spreading through the veins of the world like a hypnotic opium.  The excstacy won't last and neither will we.  The sobering of the world would mean a purging of the toxin that has immobilzed and left many commatose.  I do not mean to sound cynical towards capitalism, but capitalsim values the individual or individual group's interests over the good the indivual and collective humanity.  The US has fallen asleep.  Such sedation will only serve to allow for dreams and nightmares removed form the reality of the concious state that is our reality.  How long can we say it doesn't affect me until it does in the most forcefull and terroristic way.  The only terrorists we have to fear is the ego within us that desire to consume relentlessly.  Whether science approves it or disapproves it, we must concern ourselves with how we are responsible for this world and ourselves and be aware that all actions result in concequences(good and bad).  In the end whent he world is swallowed up by its own volition both the liberal and the conservative, the christian and the atheist, the rich and the poor, the white and the nonwhtie will all be victims, engulfed in neglected self-fulfilling prophecy, to such gluttony of power and indiviudal pursuit.  What argument will you extend when the world has been exhausted and sickened by mann that it will it eaither whither or purge man from it inorder to reset time?
