Accident @ MindSay
Then I heard something ..... a loud screech ..... living on a highway that really isn't anything new ..... but this was different ..... then a huge KABOOM! Loud ..... followed by more screeching and a BANG!
My heart started racing as the dogs across the highway started barking. Jumping out of bed ..... grabbing my bathrobe and slippers, car keys, cell phone and sunglasses I ran out the door to our car. Racing down our long driveway I could see a large dust cloud on the main highway. Upon reaching the highway I didn't see anything but lots of dust at first ..... then the little white car off in the ditch ..... SHIT!
Pedal to the metal across the highway and down to where I could get turned around the right direction .... a jogger running towards me ..... "do you have a phone?" Yes, I replied ..... and dialed 911 as he continued down the road to the little car in the ditch. Pieces of car everywhere ..... then I noticed mail .... a lot of it ..... they had hit the mailboxes ...... taking them out ..... then somehow flipped back across the highway landing upright in the ditch ..... holy cow!
The jogger and another vehicle with a nurse ..... yes, how lucky was that ..... now stopped with the woman in the car. After getting off the phone with 911 I got turned around and parked with the others waiting for help to come.
The woman .... a widowed lady who I know from my waiting table days had fallen asleep at the wheel coming home from her night job at the retirement home in Yreka. She was in shock .... but no blood anywhere .... conscious and alert with some head and neck pain. After about15 minutes .... gotta love rural areas .... help arrives in force ..... three fire rescue units, CHP and an ambulance.
Still in my bathroom and pretty much naked underneath .... it was time for me to come home .... and recount this in here so I can shake it off.
Coffee ..... I need coffee ...... the ambulance just left ..... sirens heading down road.
Whew .....
Now then, where was I ? Hell, think I'll just get up.
Peace. J.
Eventually he does.
Yesterday after the accident, I wanted them to go to the doctor. There is even an emergency room in walking distance of our house, but he said he wanted to wait to see his chiropractor. Which I understand, but it still bothers me.
See, a real doctor won't do anything -- because he can't do anything. A real doctor can take x-rays (which show nothing) and prescribe pain medication. But a chiropractor can fix it. A good one anyway. There are plenty of crappy ones that string you along for the sake of insurance money.
One of the ways you can tell a good one is that they try to get rid of you as a patient. I've never gone to one, but Nelson is big on them. (So was my first husband, but that's another story.) ANYWAY, Nelson and Emma have been in accidents before. I think this is their third. Once was when Emma was very small, and afterward she walked funny. I can still see in my mind the three of us at a park, and Emma playing. As she walked away from us, she was dragging one foot behind her. It broke my heart. But after three sessions with a chiropractor, she was good as new. He said, "Oh, she's little, she doesn't need much help. Three sessions and she'll be done." And so it was.
So the TWO OF THEM want to wait out the long weekend so they can see their man. I hope I can last it. Emma's neck bothers her now and Nelson has taken some ibuprofen and dropped off to sleep. I still haven't gotten the full picture of his injuries. He just wants to bear it until Tuesday. I would strangle him, but that would only make it worse.
Oh dreary me!
Wow, I forgot even why I wanted to post this! What happened is that Nelson and Emma were in a car accident this morning! On a four lane highway, a woman in the third lane wanted to take the exit, cut to the right, changed her mind, cut back into the third lane, and slammed on her brakes. Six cars got into the pile-up, Nelson and Emma being the last.
Someone had to go to where the car was towed and gather up our stuff... the car is being totalled.
Oh, Nelson and Emma are FINE, btw!
They were shaken up, though, so I took off work and went to the car. It was far. I had to take the subway, then a bus, then a long walk in the sun... and then I had to wait.
Oh, the car was crumpled! Inside everything was fine, except for the airbags hanging over everything.
Then the long walk, the bus, the subway. I was so hot, I draink the beers. piuuuuuu
I can't think of a subject title.
This question I am going to ask actually hits close to home for my family. On the side of the shooter. I am going to be up front right off the bat.
Little back ground before I go to my question. Both sides of my family are HUGE hunters but my mom's family does more and does more what the gov't calls big game hunting. Deer. Don't ask my why they considered Deer big game but they do........again gov't idiots! I was in highschool when an incident concerning my Uncle, who is my current landlord happened. My cousins B, and J (Uncle's sons) and my uncle hunt their land and their land only. They also set aside so much of it for the area hunters to hunt and then set aside the real crap land near the hiways and such for the Southern Hunters. Well B, J, and uncle went to a deep field near another farmers fields and friends of theirs. Friends of my family also because we all went to church to gether and there was a girl my age and a girl my sisters age. Now your suppose to wear hunter orange while out especially if your out during hunting season! Saves your ass from being shot! Uncle, B and J took deer stands down in a wash out area and they all spotted what was thought of as a deer, B and J said take the shot Dad. My uncle took the shot. My uncle has never deer hunted since he took that shot and just now one of his brohters mentioned to him to go out with him...........the farmer that had fields next to my uncle's, his son who KNEW it was hunting season was out chasing down something and didn't wear hunters orange and all three of my fmaily memebers thought he was a deer! Shot him in the leg! Now my Uncle took full responsiblity, paid all the medical, paid for all the therapy. They called 911, they called the ambulance, they called the family. The families will be poliet to each other but that is about it because the family whose son was shot was told by their lawyer you can take it to court on a civil matter but you're ten to one going to loose because C (the guy that was shot) wasn't wearing orange, he was trespassing, and he KNEW it was hunting season.
What brought this all on? REmember a few years back that Hmong person shot and killed 3 hunters for no reason at all in WI? Well some dude shot a hmong person for no reason at all and then tried hidding the evidence.
Deep Question: Could you objectively go out hunting again or what ever it was you where doing when something like this happened, and see someone that looks similar or is even the same culture as the person who killed before, and NOT retaliate?
For our friend C who was accidently shot by my Uncle, can and has! It's his parents who still hold the grudge and C was an adult when it happened in the first place! C and B were highschool friends even though they didn't hang out. C has no problem hunting with B and J. And let me tell ya both my cousins with different hair colors, one light brown to blonde and the other with dark brown to black look just like my Uncle! Bult like him also.
Personally I don't think a lot of people can. I ask myself that question and I don't know if I can or not look at someone objectively if they are similar in apperance, behavor, and talk to someone who shot at me or one of my family memebers. I am hoping I never have to find out. Come one who would want to shoot me..........no comments from the peanut gallery!:P
