Abbey Road @ MindSay
And so I made a new MP3 CD for socKs's car which includes One, Abbey Road, Sgt. Pepper's, Rubber Soul and both discs of the White Album. Which has broadened his horizons slightly more. He's a smart kid. He knows that Octopus's Garden is Ringo's song. He knows that John sings on The Ballad of John and Yoko. He knows that it's Paul's voice on Hey Jude. (We're not quite sure if he knows that the Walrus was Paul.)
One of the sticking points is that, while I favor music from the Sgt. Pepper through Abbey Road era, he's more into the earlier stuff from the Please Please Me era. but he's still young. We'll see what happens when he gets older. At least he likes Get Back...
So -- I'm picking him up from pre-school the other day. He says he wants to listen to the Beatles. Love Me Do is the first track on One and is one of his favorites. However, I didn't have any Beatles in my car! The horror!
I did, however, have The Beastles, the mash-ups by djBC which cleverly mix together tracks from the Beastie Boys over those from the Beatles. So I played a little of it. Namely "The Ladies Do Love Me," a hybrid of Love Me Do and Hey Ladies. The tempo is much faster than the original Beatles tune, which Av found very silly. And there's a refrain of "Hey!" after each line in the Beatles chorus. (I'd post a link to the audio, but it's no longer available online.)
And now? Av will start singing it, demanding that we add the appropriate "Hey!" at the right place in the song:
Love, Love me do (Hey!)
You know I love you (Hey!)
I'll always be true (Hey!)
So pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease... (Hey Ladies!)
etc.
So -- yes. I've corrupted my son's musical tastes for a while by incorporating the genre of Bastard Pop. But at least he still has some Beatles songs unscathed for his listening pleasure.
For now, at least...
In the meantime, I made an MP3 CD for my car with lots of Beatles albums. And, of course, both Beastles albums as well.

"Run to the hills..."
It's the Flavour, the Flavour of the Week, yeah...
Here we are, and so shall we be until next week. We are now in Week Two of this Grande Experiment of doing the Blog type thing...
And well, Week One wasn't as successful as I had hoped, but then again when I started this thing oh so many years ago, I had only two subscribers for the longest time so a slow start isn't really that unusual...
And for those of you who have read it and who have not signed up for Mindsay, they's good people and will not spam your inbox or any other nasty evil thing so feel free to add your comments and do the Wiki thing, K?
Groovy...
And there was much rejoicing and wearing of party hats, and all were well and content in this little corner of cyberspace...
Amen...
"Run for your lives..."

As was pointed out to your brain-dead Commander-in-Chief...

Of course, I did not think of this...
So now I'm rectifying the situation...
And it gives me an opportunity to use the word "rectifying" in this Flave Thang...
