You probably have heard the news already: due to the ongoing writers' strike, production has halted on FOX's scripted drama, '24.' While seven episodes are already in the can, the network has decided that it would be best to hold off on airing any of them until they're certain that the entire 24-episode season can air.
And with that news -- I give you an excerpt from: '24 -- The Unaired 1994 Pilot.' (Jack saves the world with AOL 3.0)
Early in the tv season, I posted thoughts each week about 24. Then the show went to crap, my updates stopped, and I even missed an episode along the way while I was out in California. I'm not a quitter, so I reluctantly turned on 24 last night, and for about 45 minutes it was more crap - lame sub-plots, no action, and hell, Bauer was basically taking the show off, just sitting in some detention area of CTU. But the last 15 minutes got back to what the show is all about:
Really uncomfortable and unrealistic yet dramatic situations - the girl the President was sleeping with is now forced into breaking up a major terrorist plot or face treason charges.
Heart pounding action - CTU gets taken over by terrorists. As unlikely it is that there is a sewer entrance to NSA or the CIA in real life, it's pretty scary to see terrorists completely take over a government agency.
Killing off a major character - Mylo took a bullet in the head. Good riddance! Not trying to be mean but he was not my favorite character, and hey it's fictional.
Anyhow, three hours to go, and the writers finally pulled it together to create a little suspense.
