2008 Campaign @ MindSay

THESE PEOPLE FRIGHTEN ME
During the first Democratic presidential debate a little known candidate, former Alaska Senator Mike Gravel, ended up with one of the most memorable lines of the evening:  "Some of these people frighten me".

Senator Gravel firmly opposes a military confrontation with Iran and advocates a diplomatic solution to the current situation.

He proposes immediate and orderly withdrawal of troops followed by aggressive diplomacy.

He wants to empower Americans by giving us the mechanism--the National Ballot Initiative--to vote directly on issues which affect our daily lives.  This power is similar to the initiatives used by citizens in 24 states and in over 200 communities.

He knows we must reduce America's carbon footprint in the world by passing legislation that caps emissions and improves energy effiiency while generating energy from low-carbon sources.

He wants a National Health Care Voucher plan which will provide health care for all Americans.

He opposes the Defense of Marriage Act.

Some of the 2008 candidates frighten me, too.  Mike Gravel doesn't.  He's a nice guy.   Why do nice guys always have to finish last?
