Moon Man - Voyage dans la Lune w/ Jules, Neil and Michael
Today, 38 years ago, I watched this live on TV. It was the first color-TV we owned.
Afterwards, I ran back outside to steal apples from the neighbors tree.

No Michael Jackson moves in this original.

... was it groovy?

A lot of films today aren't worth watching once let alone twice. But last night we watched a movie that was just as entertaining the second time around: "A Walk On The Moon" from 1999, although the story takes place in the summer of '69, the summer of the moon walk, the summmer of Woodstock. Since we were starting our family in 1969, this film brought back... well... groovy memories.

I understand how some could see the adulterous wife in this story as a real bitch and the hard working tv-repairman husband as a victim (his "was it groovy?" cut to the quick), but they would be missing the point. In the story Pearl tells her husband Marty Kantrowitz, "I couldn't become a different person with you". And he answered, "Who stopped you?"

I'm not an expert on failed marriages or successful marriages. I've only been in one, and I'm still here after 40 years. Sometimes I wonder about the road not taken but I know that if anyone stopped me from being a different person, it was me.
