I have these 2 sores - one on each thumb. Today, at the Dermatologist, the doctor told me they are warts caused by a virus similar to the HPV virus. She said the warts are highly contagious. She told me about some treatments and said the best treatment would be to freeze them off. It was recommended that I get a numbing shot first, but I fucking hate anything pricking my fingers, so I said just do it without the shots.
Seriously... it was the most painful experience that I've ever had. On my right thumb, she took an emery board to the wart. On my thumb left, she cut off a couple layers with a razor. This fucking hurt, but I thought the pain couldn't get any worse. Then she said she'd freeze it off and it would take only 20 seconds. The freezing part was absolutely horrible. I was literally biting my fingers to keep from crying or screaming. I had to go through this shit twice! And the next time hurt even more! She said I needed to come back every 3 weeks for six to eight more treatments.
I am still hesitant to get the shots, but I guess I only have 2 choices... either suck it up and get the shot or cringe and bear the painful freezing. I didn't bother to tell her that I had another wart on my knee, but I guess I'll have to next time... or I could just buy some OTC freeze-off and try it. Either way - I'm fucking scared!
