I enjoyed your theory. There's only one thing wrong with it: the pope didn't die in 1981. John Paul II, having been pope for 3 years, was shot as his car was driving through the streets of Rome. He lost a ton of blood, but he survived to visit his would-be assassin in prison & personally forgive him. The last time a pope had died prior to this year was 1978.
