Sitting on my own not by myself...

And so it is that I am sitting here typing away the hours deep into the deepest darkest of nights whilst the world around me sleeps...

This is not quite true for I have been trying for many hours to network my laptop using Linux as its OS. This is proving to an impossibility of a grand magnitude, not that I'm totally ignorant to the ways of the Penguin, but rather my knowledge base is not large enough to get my WiFi card to work under any of the distros I've tried and I lack the time necessary to spend on this quest so I will just have to call it quits and either be satisfied with working with Linux and transferring it to my UberPuter or breaking down and spending money I am currently lacking to buy a WiFi card that has dedicated Linux drivers. And such is my computer life at the moment where I am current typing this with KWrite so that I can transfer it via my ZipDrive to my UberPuter while I wish that I could just simply upload it to the Internet. hhhhmmm, a mental note to my self: check the old boxes I have to see if any have a network card in them for I have at least four old systems in my basement and one just might have a card in it, maybe, hopefully...

It just frustrates me to no end to not be able to accomplish what I want to do especially because I find myself so close where I can detect the card, but I cannot get to drivers to power it up and run it. Alas, Edison would cry for the lights do not illuminate the world...

Funny how it was so long ago when I cursed the name of Apple when they abandoned me and my OS. It is strange to think that I have lived so long in the Computer World. O the marvels of technology! O the joys of monochrome monitors! O the wonders of 5 1/4" floppies that were actually floppy! But I never went to a Mac and at this point I never will for IBM-compatible (hehehehe, I haven't used that term in eons) are far too common and the parts are far too plentiful for someone such as myself who enjoys taking things apart and rearranging them even this laptop that was bought used in '02 has had plenty of tinkering done to it and it still functions though I currently have the WiFi issue, but if I boot to Windows 98 I can do on-line things...

And ssshhhhhhhhh, don't tell anyone that I'm a closet geek - it'll be our little secret, K?

Well, I do believe that I have exceeded my brain capacity for today and I shall go to bed so that I can get a good night sleep and then transfer this to my UberPuter and you get the picture. And then I will place this upon the Internet using a machine that knows how to do WiFi though I could just reboot to Windows and go that route. Alas, far too many options to contemplate at this hour so I will just say, "Night y'all, I'll see ya when I see ya..."
