well, okay, you do make some valid points. but i would argue that not everyone can move. and not everyone can get a new job. and not every place has a public transportation system. some people actually are reliant on gas.
though i might just go out on a limb and say that if they've got the time and resources to blog, they aren't one of those people.
as for taxes, you need taxes to run a society. unless you're going to have privately-owned streets all over town, let the real estate agents bulldoze the parks, and tell the poor and disabled and elderly, "fuck you! i ain't providing for you! this is america! fend for yourself!"
Points well taken and because I had no objective when I sat and wrote it, I concede to thee...
Though I never did say eliminate all taxes, they are a necessary evil. What I was objecting to is those folks who wish to add extra taxes above and beyond those already paid to punish the oil companies for making money and that in my mind is what the whole capital gains tax is - punishment for doing business well. To me, there is no difference between this tax and those who wish to tax any overtime moneys I make at a might higher rate than my co-workers because it wasn't fair that I made more money...
hhhmmm, don't know if that made sense, I've been up 28 hours straight to this point in time, hehehe, I should impose a capital gains tax on those who get more sleep than I - it just ain't fair that some folks get more than I do...
Did that whole mess make sense? I am not the one to judge my writing at this time...

yeah, i understand what you're saying, i think. you're down on the whole tax bracketing?? i mean, that's basically it, taxing people who make more, more. but see, i'd disagree on that, too. one of my pastors brought this up in terms of tithing once, how it's a little silly to require a blanket 10% from everyone. i mean, if you make $50, that $5 is really really dear to you. but if you make, like, $5,000 a week, that $500 is a little more dispensible. yeah, it still hurts, but it's a little more reasonable to ask of someone.
get some sleep.
Funny how it is I haven't stopped yet though, but I still feel I haven't stated my point correct though this could be due to the lack of sleep...
The preacher does have a good point, and yet let's say with our tax codes (I'm just going by IRS rules of the game) the person who makes $50 tithes at 1% and the person who makes $5,000 must tithe at 15% (yes, it is tru that every with this example is more painful to the lower tithe bracketed person, but the IRS is not a fair system). Now if the $5,000 dude makes an extra Grand this year, what some Senators would like to institute is for the now $6,000 dude to pay his 15% plus an additional 10% capital gains tax on the addition $1,000 because he has now made far too much money and this has hurt the feelings of others. As I said before, taxes (in this example, tithes) are a necessary evil, but changing the rules in the middle of the game to punish those who are deemed to be making too much money is not the way I feel government should be run. It would be like (using the overtime example) if I had received a speeding ticket for $100 that I must pay or face imprisonment, but the state DOT finds out I worked overtime so they raised the fine to $200...
hhhhhhmmmmm, I don't know if that gets my point across of not. I'm not saying that the oil companies shouldn't pay their fair share in taxes; I'm just saying that because they made a lot of money doesn't not mean the government should impose additional taxes on money that was made under the old rules. Though all of this could be just so many words on a page if the government does NOT impose on a capital gains tax on the oil companies and just allows them to pay the taxes that were already in place under the current tax laws...
Basically I do not agree with any type of capital gains tax because in my mind (hehehehe, sleepy mind at the moment, but there ain't enough hours in my life between 2 jobs and family matters) all such taxes are fines for being successful in what you do or at least it fines you for being lucky...
I though did cross my mind after reading your original reply about the private streets, every couple of years or so I take a vacation to Maine (where I would like to be buried upon a rocky cliff overlooking the ocean, but this is a different matter altogether). A good percentage of the roads from about the middle of the state and northward are private toll roads. I really need to get to Maine sometime soon, 'tis a beautiful place in the summer. I really do need to get to Maine soon, I have nearly come to the maximum allowable time between trips. Alas my dearest, there aren't many things I miss in ths lifetime, one of the few is Maine in the summer...
I have reached my limit for maximum time to be awake, I shall correct this...
¡Adios!

okay, i didn't know about the capital gains tax, and still don't know enough about it, or what the money gained from said tax does for the system to be able to argue one way or the other.
milk is good, though.
May goal is to never agrue with anyone, it may have the lack of sleep of the past two days, and I am very sorry if I seemed argumentative...
A big bowl of ice cream would be better, milk cannot be found in the refrigerator for today is grocery day, wwwwwooooo-hhhhhhhoooo!!!

i don't mind you arguing with me. i like arguing... debating, rather. arguing sounds like i get all pissed and stuff, which i don't normally do.
go food!
Well thank ya ever so muchly, though I do not generally like to debate with folks either for I know that many points of view are just as valid as the way I view things and some even more so...
