This is my response to FeatherDawn's  Poetry Challenge...

Upon a distant shoreline...

Upon a distant shoreline
Of some ancient half-forgotten sea,
I sit and watch the tide come in
As the waves crash over me...

Upon a distant shoreline
In a time so very far away,
We sat so close together
And watched the sun rise on a new day...

Upon a distant shoreline
That seems like a lifetime ago,
You left the beach and walked away
Though I begged you not to go...

Upon a distant shoreline,
I remain here still
Maybe you'll come back one day,
How I hope you will...

Upon a distant shoreline,
The end grows ever near
As the waves crash down upon my soul
And break upon every tear...

Re: A poetry for y'all v56.0...
Having sailed upon the seven seas in my youth, the phrase distant shoreline was always a welcoming one to us. For you have not known true isolation until you have looked for miles in each direction and seen nothing but black/green water sometimes hundreds of feet high. Good poem my friend, I look forward to more. Peace...

Thank ya much. I am glad you enjoyed the poem. I haven't spent much time upon the seas, but the Greats Lakes and the rivers Western PA are forever part of my existence. Thank ya much again...

The Great Lakes can be as treacherous as the open ocean my friend and rivers hide their own dangers. Mariners are a breed apart from the rest of society. Peace....
